Lights are a nonissue for mech, you have 20+ mins of power with lights and air nonstop mining. Real problems are getting fucked by hivelords and needing an advanced scanner to mine with it. I've always found welding masks to be a pain in the ass to find apart from as science and engineering. Hardsuit helms put a bit of a damper on it, but still not teeeerribly common.

As we discussed in the other thread, make it cause welding eye damage when used unless you are wearing welding goggles, limiting your vision. Or just making you go fucking blind if you can't find any. This way I can not only cosplay as the hulk, but as Cyclops.

A cooldown would be prudent as well.

Never played with it myself, but I have watched science play with it through the chemistry window on eff3. Every round, they end up with radium all over the floor, 2 explosions and a few gas releases. Never heard them yelling from the rooftops about big breakthroughs either.

Making it useful as a cultist objective doesn't really help make the desk useful outside of cult rounds.
