1404 fixed the crash we were able to reproduce, using the shuttle placer thingy. I was able to confirm this.
So what we need to do is reset, as too much info in related issue threads applies to an old bug.
Bugs relating to hangs on clients that involved mobs that can see all turfs (ais, ghosts, advance camera consoles) have been fixed 3 times since 512 first came out.
What I need is more examples of what is going on when the hangs happen.
What I need is for everybody to list the following info for...

Ever since the recent changes to the dynamic gamemode, lowpop is a complete shitshow. Often, a third of the crew is a traitor or becomes one during the round.
This is hurting science and service players who just want to enjoy the game. Every round, service/science players:
1) have to act concerned about red hardsuit man raiding their workplace/doors to secure areas being doorjacked/blood being everywhere even though this happens every round
2) are distracted too much...
Having a bunch of different medicine with the same back end make them both difficult to mentally distinguish, as well as making them look worse
I very much understand this is to allow people to understand what type a damage a chemical should heal at a glace, but it really doesn't make much since in practice. Inexperienced doctors are going to be taking chems out of kits, which are already handily labeled what type of damage their medicine...
this is stupid. everyone is over this stuff and it's not just goof, his are just by far and above the worst. stop deleting things (entire antags at a time) and making things inaccessible, more difficult and more awful fnr. this game is supposed to be fun with great room for creativity, not for weirdos to force me to bar rp.
but this can't be trolling because it's all been coded and actually done?
Funny hand is currently only good as rust or blade heretic, and only for the utility of trapping people in rooms or breaking walls/borgs. Giving the next cast a significantly lowered CD at the cost of removing the extra effects would let it actually stamcrit people and allow it to compete with stunbatons. When the solo role that is supposed to ambush people needs to powergame security tools to do his job, something is seriously off with the balance.
Honestly, even this buff would probably still result in...
Why did they do this....from my perspective. It must be another one of those cargo bike situations, where it's not meant to be creatable and only exists to catch bug abusers/meta-commers. The worst part is, the simple mob isnt even all that useful for all the jobs you have to do to get it.
Looks simple enough..I wonder what the guide say- OH MY GOODNESS SQUIDWARD
You have to go to >Chemistry > Botany > Bar > Morgue > Lavaland If you don't want to get curb stomped by the game. It's clearly a...
>Delta Alert
>GET in the pods now now now!!
>Go use the pod, escape before the nuke blows up.
>Land in the ice z-level.
>Phew im safe...wait a minute im still on the icebox planet.
>Nuke blows up and you die anyways
Should send you to that hyper-space z-level that the arrivals shuttle stays at indefinitely until someone gets on it. I believe admins can manually send pods there too.
Edit: wait a minute, now that I realize theres no space on this map. So your dead no matter where you go..
Basically, I think those changes were overkill and have created an unhealthy dynamic.
I think they were overkill because an AA leak is not the wildfire it used to be. Someone stealing the spare is much, much less of a deal as it was when everyone could carry an AA ID around.
I believe the unhealthy dynamic is that of mechanically selected acting cap. Personally I believe it is much more interesting for crew to decide themselves who the acting cap is than for a system to do it itself. I think the...
I'm probably not the first person to make this thread.
Normal windows have 50 health and no armor
Reinforced windows have 150 health, 80% damage reduction for all thrown and melee attacks, and has a damage threshold of 11, which means it ignores damage less than 11
Having 3 times the health of a normal window, and being able to ignore blows from non-robust weapons seems completely reasonable to me, but the 80% damage reduction from melee weapons is to much. I understand the intention is to make guns and...
Genpop on Tramstation has been active since early December and there isn't a feedback thread up about it, so I figured I'd make a location to get some general critique now that people have had time to adjust to it whenever it comes up.
Earlier this year I made a pr which made it so that the traumas given by abductors could be cured much more easily, my intention for this was to discourage people rushing to medbay for surgery after being abducted. It was quickly shut down due to everyone but me being cringe, I have decided to reignite this discussion here involving traumas.
The trauma encourages people to rush to medbay to get their brain damage fixed, while under the knife the doctors will just remove the organ as it's obvious they'll...
>be a scientist, doing science
>Go to medbay take a mind restoration pill
>Time Skip
>Get obsessed antag midroll
>Aw heck yeah the games threat system now needs me to make an impact on the ro-
>Suddenly instant lose it due to virus
Pretty sure its designed to be more permanent then that! If not, then it should be because threat just got wasted instantly with no further impact on the round.
Wounds is a system we have, imagine if antags gained the ability to capitalize on it
Sword Holoparasite. He gets a sword, speedy attacks, can do piercing wounds and can shatter limbs, but their damage is pretty low.
Top tier for incapacitating someone and sending them to the surgery room. Useless for the killing and will probably get you killed when the valid hunting crew sees you (but thats all holoparas!)
I've been on a roll today talking about features that feel like they hate the players using them. Fermichems recipes!
Recipes are inaccurate now, upon which all of your chems will turn into useless goop that isn't what it says it is. If you want the right recipe, you gotta know the secret meta combination. Or find a video of how to accurately make it on youtube.
It's understandable that we want more depth in chemistry, but it could really use some easier in-game guidance. So players don't have to build...
Rather than get into too much of the specifics of balance in the game broadly and ops performance wise, I wanted the opinions of exactly is or isn't working in the current uplink. The game mode has been around for a while, and it's almost certaintly gathered some real sore points for equipment. As such:
1. What items are too expensive/not worth the price? Why?
This usually means items that are probably useful but simply poorly priced for what they do.
2. What items are good, but don't work for nukies...
But supermatter delamination is so weak that the only real threats from it are the loss of power and maybe a hull breach that reaches outside of the walls of Engineering.
I genuinely don't really know what happens if you don't bother getting in a locker because sometimes I fail to get into one in time but I've never suffered any apparent penalty for this.
The actual delamination should not be the least dangerous part of...
guns being made bulky means you can barely kill shit with your peashooter, so you need to carry more to prevent yourself from dying, but surprise bulky.
It was made bulky because stuffing 7 guns in your bag, just code a list of guns, like laser and energy guns, and cap the amount that can fit in a bag to 2, Want to carry more on your belt or suit storage? Sacrificing concealability for firepower
Oh, and makes the gun thief who has to steal guns better to play
The topic of revives, medical, and round removals is a pretty controversial issue around here, but its clear that lots of people aren't happy with the current state of it. Therefore in this rambling manifesto I propose that defibrillator revives be limited to only five minutes after death. This is a pretty extreme take, but I think it's worth discussing and could lead to some good conversation. Below I am going to go over what are, in my opinion, the problems with revives, the pros of the five minute...
I think the idea was to make people use operating theatres and operating tables over stasis beds, but... this doesn't seem to have worked. People just only use the basic operations and no-one (except when a med-borg gets upgraded) uses anything other than basic tend wounds.
Add to the fact that more advanced surgeries get researched more rarely now because they're gated behind slime experiments which scientists never do...
Randomized wires between departments means test by hand, get shocked once or twice and you're set is no longer viable for long-distance B&E travel (e.g. when the AI is rogue) - only practicably solvable by getting Insulated Gloves or acquiring the Engineering Skillchips
Reinforced Windows are stupidly strong. For single-facing R-glass, some counts of how much you have to hit them are:
The problem with viruses is that players cannot really counter the virus, beyond going to the medbay and getting the cure.
There was/is a counterplay to the cryosting of Changeling, which was drinking a lot of coffee.
What I would suggest is adding items like cough drops and forehead cooling patches, which can be bought from vending machines. Players knocking down cough drops and coffee to overcome being sick makes intuitive sense, and would make people less angry about virology
This is weird. Ritual sacrifice should murder people. Secret agents sent for corporate espionage, sabotage, and terrorism shouldn't have equipment they can afford restricted upon the basis of time. Both of these are new and unnatural systems, and the discourse and discussion around them is weird, because there's a group pushing this angle and they honestly all sound the same, and frequently discuss these changes and opinions publicly.
This shit is softened up to the point that heretics send you to 'heck'...
Quite possibly the least fun event. It is far too common for the impact it causes. The shuttle gets called almost every single time it occurs, usually giving it more weight to the round than every antagonist combined. It causes so many atmos diffs that the atmos ss slows down to the point where the supermatter engine can reach almost or sometimes over 5GeV from just the default emitter setup.
The impact it occurs is far too high for its frequency, and I'm not sure that a random event that almost...
Respawning as spider is currently only limited by the amount of eggs available. If the spiders responsible for creating eggs are on their game, then the supply almost never runs out and dead spiders can respawn almost immediately. This leads to spiders easily overrunning the station. I suggest putting a cooldown on spider respawns, so after dying they can't respawn immediately. I have never had a good round with spiders and they feel incredibly cheap if you aren't eager to join the bandwagon and stomp the...
In the name of balancing, players have lost agency for the sake of balance.
In genetics, cloning has been removed entirely, space adaptaton has been nerfed into 2 powers. X-ray vision is gone. Thermal vision makes you go blind. Hulk causes you to break your arms if you destroy walls, and kill yourself. In its place, we've gotten new powers, like Webbing, or Transcendent Olfaction. Powers people clamor for every day I am sure. A bunch of disruptive powers wouldn't be typically distributed, so if you look...
first of all, gambler's fallacy is not a fallacy and every thief roll is a wasted roll for a real antag (for you, yes, YOU, the player)
second of all, thieves represent a well that will never end, and its refreshing waters are the antags that were never rolled because thief hogs threat and ANYTHING buying threat decreases the chance of other antags in general. while intending to give people something to do, in a sort of, antag-lite way, all that ends up happening is one robust person steals every gun from...
Now that both of my species-inspired food PRs (see here: and have had time to marinate, I think it's about time I gathered some concrete feedback. Ideally this should focus on the code side of stuff (recipes, nutritional value, ease of access, variety, flavour, etc). I can't personally do much about sprites.
As an additional prompt: I know that there are issues with the recipes, nutriment values and the overall value of the food received versus the inputs- but I'm not sure of specifics. So please, let me...
Without GoonStation's full Ant Chem support, you can't do anything with ants and ants can't do anything with you
Nobody(?) wants to take charge of making them Do Something in a way that doesn't step on GoonChem's toes
Ants are a nuisance, but not (or barely) a meaningful one
They have no real interactable RP implication (and it's unrealistic that food on the station rots and gets swarmed by ants so quickly anyway)
You can still have food rot away if you think it's really important to not leave food...
Non-traitor melee weapons are pretty unbalanced. Now that combat knives are removed, we are in a weird situation where surgery and engineering tools are the best non-traitor melee weapons in the game.
The strongest is by far the surgical drill. It fits in a bag, does 15 brute, has an extremely high chance of giving open puncture pierce wounds (bloodloss) and eye damage. Most of all, can be printed dirt cheap en masse from the medbay protolathe. Anyone who walks into medbay storage can acquire one.
At the moment, there is no real reason to use these machines when it comes to fruits and veggies, as they will not inherit the stats of whatever you are putting through them. This makes the effort of using plants with decent stats counterproductive; why make soy dopes with 1/1 nutriment/protein when your soybeans have 5/5 nutriment/vitamin?
The preserve_materials var for the food processor is meant to amend this by keeping the stats of the inputted item, but it seems to do nothing, which is a shame.
As we can see, the post-Revs experience hasn’t been that great from an administration point of view (Dear god the triangle), and from a players point of view it isn’t that great either. Granted I don’t have the data on hand, but a majority of rev victory shifts, the station is in poor shape, you have quite a few round removed players, and the threat regenerated from the revs win doesn’t end up getting used. The shuttle ends up getting called, and then we have 10 minutes of just waiting to leave. What I...
pretty much all the anti-stun abilities that some antags can buy/unlock do essentially nothing to protect you from stuns, with the worst offender being the ling-ability (i forgor what its called) that just straight up does nothing. These items are described in-game and on the wiki as protecting you from stuns, which is often very confusing to new and longtime players who will buy them, assume they cannot be stunned, get batoned then die.
The first problem is combat mode and time has somewhat mangled it away from the way it was originally envisioned. Originally you could move around while you had someone held up, which is a much more robust ability as it allowed you to stand back in case they tried anything, as well as giving you some more freedom and generally feeling better. Currently, due to bugs rather than intentional design, you must be in melee to hold someone up, and if you move at all it is broken. This...
As an occasional maintenance rat, ill tell you why.
It's the TAPE. Tape is needed in 2-3 parts while creating the musket, 1 for the stock, 1 for the receiver (if you don't make one at cargo), 1 for the final construction. It was the author's original intention that rats would go to maint to find tape that spawns randomly. But it is so unbelievably rare that you can easily go rounds without any tape ever spawning. Tape is considered a common misc catagoy item but appears misleadingly infrequently due to the...
I was browsing old github PRs, and saw a PR for making the monkey variant of lizards get denied. Multiple times in the comments, it was stated that the maintainers do not want more sub-species, and just wanted it to be a reskin. Ultimately, the PR got shutdown because it was deemed valueless.
This reminded me of another PR, where cat-girls would have gotten wolverine claws, but that as a mutation was too shutdown because catgirls should be a reskin only, and not an actual race.
