This is a list of coding suggestions that have been approved conceptually and if implemented correctly will be added into the game.
Make passing through spilled fuel increase fire_stacks and consume fuel amount.
Allow bodyblock while on timed actions, on non-help-intents
Make the decapitation surgery a bit more complicated than just sawing off to avoid mistakes.
Tactical reload by clicking with empty pistol on pistol ammo belt/pouch, as long as pistol is empty and reload option for pouch/belt is...
anyone that played old TGMC knows that there were something like corupted xenos aka greenos and in the future they were removed but i want to bring them back but i want to balanced them first beside brinig the old machanick when xeno had to spawn thier eggs and planting them when the marines would just yoint them but i got a better idea beside researchers waiting for the egg to come to them when the egg can wait for the researcher what i mean is xenos will still have the todays egg planting mechanick but...
i think melee marine is one of the more interesting fun playstyles, i've especially taken a liking to robot heavy armor tyr shield machete and just tanking insane amounts of damage while dishing out consistent damage with the blade - but has anybody else found success being tanky with some other sort of playstyle? the shield really limits your options because onehanded but i'm curious specifically if anybody's found a good way to use a gun mainly while still being heavy tyr and shield it really seems like...
What if new gamemode where marines have to clear a map of NPC Xenos? Currently I am thinking of an altered Research Outpost made to look like a hive and filled with 50 or so xenos of pyramidal composition. Lore wise; a Research outpost experimenting on xenos suffers a containment breach and is overrun.
As an engineering main, I've found that the prevailing strategy among my wrench-based peers in the game is to spend the preponderance of engineering assets on the FOB.
My basic argument is this: a quickly assembled base at the front line is going to be far more helpful ensuring a marine win than a super FOB entirely removed from the fighting.
Super FOBs almost never make a large difference in the course of the game. For one thing, when the fighting reaches the FOB, the marine team usually isn't large...
So today was an interesting day in CM for me.
It was my FIRST ESCAPE AS SURVIVOR. So far it was already a win in my book, so how can I make something more fucked up?
After boarding the USS Almayer and geting check out by MP i started to rebuild the chapel than stole a gun and gated the chapel door. I planed to just shot the gun and make noise until somebody came and I can play the deranged crazed survivor but that never happened. Soo i built myself a cozy litle coffin got in and shot myself in the head...
Every EORD has become a playground for admins just to spam AI or nukes, which gets annoying when you just want to shoot things. Simple fix is to disallow admins from spamming AI or nukes unless polled, though I see no reason why Aheals should be banned. This is a opinion and would like to see others voice their opinion on it.
0. Spend all your game time as fast as possible to print modules until all the Printing points ar spent (0 points left). Otherwise someone will spend it and a tank build will be crippled.
1. After spawn fast rush to north of Alamo in a hanger. Press small orange button. It will open tank shutters.
DO NOT PRINT ANY AMMO
ORDER ALL AMMO IN REQ. AMMO COST 40 POINTS IN REQ. (Tnk ammo crates are majorly cheap=40 points (example: spec weapons cost 100 points) and 1 ammo crate point amount regenerates every 5...

2543: Finally, the source of the incredibly valuable Plasma has been discovered, Sector Zera-311, a system with hundreds of planets and moons orbiting a binary set of plasma-stars.
Eager to shore up their dwindling treasury and support their vast empire, Nanotrasen sets about mining the resource on every plasma-rich planet and moon it can land on. Colonies and mining/research facilities are established, but before long a threat...

Where may we post our crappy ideas about server balance and places where we can dump out more fluff to add into the game. We need a forum thread topic! To promote a healthy, and beautiful place where we may all laugh and cry as we throw ideas onto walls and wait for devs to shovel it into the bin of death or the code of life.
...cough cough, i miss yelling out informal ideas, and i dont think the github is exactly the place to place uncooked halfbaked ideas, since most of the github ideas are mostly fully...
Truly I want to play DMCA, but I can't, cause it's never up. Even at weekends sometimes it comes up at 8pm muh time, sometimes at 10pm. Isn't it running on Terry? Terry is not that crowded to not be able to spare the processing power, no? What is the plan here fellow operatives?
So, it's been a bit since we started and we are getting slowly more stable and settled. There's still a long way to go, though.
This project started as a mix of memes, when CM's code got leaked, and of a little seed a few people saw potential in for the long-term. MSO, ninjanomnom and Rustled come to my mind foremost, but not only.
It became known as DMCA (Digital Marines ; Colonel/Colonial Aliens) after SLC's funny rant, but after a while memes go stale and the people who were in to make fun of CM or...
Recently one of our very talented artist contributors has been working on a new set of antagonists in his spare time, including creating a whole design document regarding them. Right now they are called the Cimex and are a zerg-like race that could be an alternative to the xenos, especially for lowpop because fighting xenos there really sucks. This also means some use of the simple mobs so marines have something to fight and players serving more as a commanders rather than each individual unit.
1) we're not officially adopting this project into our own governance structure, maintainers and contributors who wish to join this codebase are free to do so at their own will and can work on either as they feel. While I personally feel some Schadenfreude at the whole thing our codebase is committed to extending CM the same courtesy we afforded goon when they were leaked, if they want to go open source they should do so of their own volition, previous license arguments not...
Hello, everyone. Some of you are not aware, but have recently lost a friend and contributor.
Quoting our headmin's announcement in our discord:
I'm pretty sad to announce this, but a friend, contributor and member of our community, Austin Valmoric Philips has passed away in his sleep on the 6th of November, 2018 at the age of 22.
Even though he joined the community quite recently, he was pretty active, helpful and motivated. He was extremely positive an eager to help, with an obvious desire to improve...
I suggest adding lizards, moths, and catpeople as a playable race WITH A CATCH
A new squad, Echo (or whatever flavor name you want it to be), is formed. All non-human marines are assigned to this squad. Human's cannot be in this squad except as a squad leader.
I repeat, a squad which other races are forcefully segregated into.
The lore behind this is that other races are inferior/subjugated so they can't serve in human squads. A human can be the squad lead to keep the weirdo races in check.
Nanotrasen's elite had always known that they were descendants of settlers on a terraformed world, brought there nearly a millennia ago. That world, New Eden, had been settled for around a generation when some terrible error caused every gateway in the network to start wildly connecting to every known destination, including creating two way bridges to worlds with dangerous alien life forms. This calamity, the Gatecrash, nearly brought the people of New Eden to their doom. The subsequent loss of access to...
Time has passed and we are a bit more settled. I had made another topic about a name change but the truth is that we first need to build a proper lore before we can decide on a new name. We are provisionally using both Rustled's DMCA and MSO's /tg/Marines. We'll see what we'll keep.
That said, at least two players are interested in writing the new lore, and I had my own plans as well which I'm setting aside to let them and others work on it.
In the interest of transparency and to give everyone an...
We are looking for something different from both /tg/ and CM, though we draw heavy inspiration from both.
The base is on /tg/ rules with some modifications, and a shift of focus from antag-paranoia to factions-conflict.
Hello there, sorry this has been late due to my stay in hospital but better late than never I guess.
Here you will post your application to be a mentor at DM;CA which is, as you know by now, the /tg/-run CM-code server. In your position as Mentor you are expected to only answer mechanical questions to help new, returning or perhaps players who are just trying out a different role. You are not expected to deal with any administrative matters or any instances of rule breaking. These will be handled by...
The server is new, unfamiliar to most tg players and only up 2 nights a week. Do we really need to waste entire rounds on that stupid zombie mode or other meme badmin modes that depart so much from the core gameplay of CM? And what's up with that zombie virus? I was bitten and was still up and running after 30 minutes when I killed myself out of boredom (I found out later that you're supposed to let your team mates kill you as soon as you realize you're infected because there's no cure, dunno why since it...
I feel like people are getting ahead of themselves, trying to figure what changes would we make to the formula, in terms of mechanics, jobs, pacing and general gameplay. Maybe let's just play the CM, maybe with more lax rules. And then see what happens, what people don't like, what they do.
As it stands, CM round last for quite a while and tend to take a while to ramp up. Going forward, what's our goal for round length and pace? Personally, I feel that DMCA should be sped up a tad but still remain much slower paced and more strategic than TG, while TG is where you go for the fast paced mayhem. RP changes alone might speed things up a tad, so I'd be fairly conservative with mechanical changes.
This was mainly sparked by a chat Ninja and I had on discord in relation to a proposal -- and given I'm planning on suggesting further reworks to req after that, well, it's probably a good idea to pop the bonnet and check the engine, as it were. I certainly have my own experiences playing in requisitions, but instead of letting that rule direction, better to ask, right?
We all know requisitions is a pretty core part of the marine's mechanics, but how do people feel about actually playing as a CT or RO?...
I'm sure everyone could suggest improvements and tweaks to the CM gameplay. Let's name them.
I'll start,
-Replace the pilot role with a bot that pushes all the buttons on the dropships, and sends automated messages on its status over comms. This eliminates a repetitive job and allows people to plan around reliable dropship schedules. Add a manual override to handle edge scenarios.
-Expand the vendor point system to PFC vendors, and re-balance requisition stockpiles to compensate. This allows marines to...
Sticky says that the new race is going to be zerg inspired so I decided to engage the autism and channel my many hours in Starcraft 2 into something potentially useful. Here are some assorted zerg units, and the types of xenos they roughly correspond to in aesthetic and/or function. Obviously I'm not suggesting (and would even discourage) that these get ripped for 1:1 like CM's xenomorphs, but these would be great starting points to build off of if a zerg style is your goal. Hope this proves useful to...
So far we've settled on The Cimex as an alien race name (Thanks AIIA). It means insect in latin, it sounds cool and alien, it's simple, spooky and not trademarked.
If you have any suggestions definitely bring them up. I haven't heard anything better after a #dmca-lorebus session
We're still looking for sector names, planet names, star names, anything like that.
Contribute a list or come to #dmca-lorebus if you have some ideas.
One time during the test, I was the Chief MP (some things never change). Early on, the corporate liaison went on his usual spiel about professionalism and doing things by the book. The CO and I both mocked him, called him a faggot, etc. 'Twas a good time. Later on, I accept a stim implant from the CL. He asks me to come to his office, where he informs me that it was actually an explosive implant. I was to kill and replace the CO, or else he would detonate it. Naturally, I quickly informed the CO when the...
I am eager to play as a synth, but beyond promises of de-whitelisting I have not seen any specifics mentioned for how they will function. I would like some clarity on this issue, and so excuse me while this relative newcomer takes a plunge into discussing a topic they have zero first-hand experience in. The foremost question I would like to ask is what exactly do we want out of synths? Lets break this down into several specfics:
Should synths remain unable to use guns? If no, what guns would be allowed?...
Is it a plan to port goonchat? I used to crash on tg a whenever I messed with the chat box and it seems to happen occasionally on CM as well- the issues on tg were resolved with goonchat, would be nice to have it on DMCA too
I'm making this thread as a central place to write down stuff you've found while code diving that isn't marked on the CM wiki.
Here's what seems to be the xeno health regen code. It seems that regen is composed of a flat portion plus a percent of max health, plus another percent of max health if recovery pheremones are nearby. Fire damage also seems to heal quicker than brute.
Hi, I'm functionally the design lead for now during this beginning period. Feel free to ask any questions of me in the various chats.
During this setup phase at least I'm going to try to keep the gameplay mostly similar and focus on code and performance improvements. Don't treat this as something like a freeze though, if you have some big change you want just discuss it first.
I'll be trying to maintain a list of refactors here which people can port. Let people know if you want to work on one.
StonedMC...
I know a lot of you were told the next text was likely to be today.
The reasons for delaying it till today were twofold, one to focus on the charity event and two we hoped the server would have it's cores upgraded by today. Unfortunately the latter has not happened. Don't worry we still plan to test as soon as possible when the cores are upgraded. When I have a timeframe for that I will say so.
