Hello, tg players and other forum-goers! Did you know that March into Mapness has started? Did you know further that means you can submit a mapping pr (fixes, features, changes, whatever) and the first one you submit will get you an ANTAG TOKEN? Until april, we're having a drive to recruit people who have never contributed more into the world of mapping, presenting resources guides, and even a channel just for supporting new mappers to make it as easy as possible to become a...

Traditional Games Station 13 must foster a culture of fear in order to reinvigorate its democratic spirit and to purge itself of its most unsavoury elements.
Be it resolved that,
1. TG head admins, upon beginning their term, will be granted the authority to ban five ckeys from the server.
a. These bans will be permanent, and the head admin will not be accountable for the justification of these bans.
b. If a head admin is re-elected, they will receive the authority to ban another five players. This...
Would like to see some thought on raising the minimum threat floor to like 10, so you still have very calm shifts but there isn't a guaranteed green anymore.
Currently when a revolution fails and a head rev is off station they become Enemy of the State and get the following objectives.
#1: Stay alive off station. Do not go to CentCom.
#2: Hijack the emergency shuttle by hacking its navigational protocols through the control console (alt click emergency shuttle console).
Given that they have a hijack objective are they considered full antagonists with the full freedom to kill that a traitor the same objective does?
From Roleplay Rules, Restricted Antag Death and Destruction, Without objectives.
They have no obligation to treat their victims but escalating over minor issues should not result in the antagonist taking steps to permanently round-remove the other player unless escalation policy would otherwise permit it.
The section regarding round removal here has always struck me as odd. Obviously, it is actively detrimental to an antagonist who is attempting to retain anonymity (as most are) to allow a witness....
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned in the past. Still, especially with the disgruntled peanuts about security as of late, this trend of silent arrests, and more so silent executions makes people livid. It's a dick move to stun someone silently, it only gets worse when it's sec and you can't retaliate and don't even know why.
I understand the nuance, if someone has contraband or is actively killing someone, sec doesn't want to type out what they're doing and risk getting the business end of the...
Lone antagonists can do whatever they want, except metagaming/comms, bug/exploit abuse, erotic/creepy stuff, OOC in IC or IC in OOC, and spawn-camping arrivals. Team antagonists can do whatever they want as per lone antagonists, as long as it doesn’t harm their team. Non-antagonists can do whatever they want to antagonists as per lone antagonists , but non-antagonists are not allowed to pre-emptively search for, hinder or otherwise seek conflict with antagonists without...
The other day I random'd Jack Black as a name pressing the random name button in prefs, but then admins made me change it after a few rounds citing naming policy because Jack Black is a famous singer. I was not RPing as the famous singer, and I got the name from the server's configuration for random possible human names.
Should we treat randomnames as potentially policy violating, and should the server take steps to remove violating names from the random names list?
What is an acceptable name for a clown?
Last night I was playing a shift on Manuel, and I named my clown 'Ted Kaczynski'. I had a whole gimmick where I got the hop to title me 'unibomber', and get toxins access. I then walked around and talked about technology and how I was going to make some bombs. Everybody seemed to enjoy it; I asked OOC chat afterwards and the response was that it was a fun gimmick. I was bwoinked by Harricross, and told that next shift I should name my clown after that.
Right now, the tgstation discord's rules are somewhat sparse, and mostly go by a smell check rather than hardline rules (except things like doxxing, or other serious and clearly outlined things like the 18+ rule). This is fine for text channels, if someone posts a blatantly pornographic image/gif/video in a text channel, that's against the rules and should be deleted as per the discord's rules:
8: Any NSFW content must be clearly labeled, as well as spoilered or nested in to prevent the automatic embed,...
So, this is either going to be a very long discussion or very short discussion--I haven't checked if there's been past policy discussions regarding this same thing, but it feels necessary to revisit if there has been past mentions of it. Without further ado, here's my primer:
Lowpop antagonists playing the game as intended is a disruptive experience that instead of fostering creativity and driving the round, usually brings it to an end. Antagonists, especially individually capable ones like traitors and...
follow up to
Right now for post revs we have like 30 different factions, with rules such as 'revs can kill heads, heads can kill revs, but crew cannot kill revs or heads'.
Here is my idea:
If the revolution wins, everybody is a 'rev'. That means that exiled heads or sec can try and fight anybody, and if you see a security officer, you are allowed to beat the shit out of them. The reasoning behind this is pretty simple: if the revolution wins, it's a revolutionary station, under the command of the...
There appears to be a growing misjudgment that notes are a punishment rather than a recordkeeping tool so I think a discussion needs to be held about how we're going to handle them in the future. Notes are visible to players as a gesture of transparency, admins have the option to hide notes from players but we are asked not to do this. I'm going to bring up the possibility of repealing that request and standardizing players not being able to see their notes to allow admins to maintain their record-keeping...
As topic says, AC's have no place to provide feedback and can be difficult to provide information into the right places.
I would like to provide a solution, a Candidate User Master.
If a candidate has been causing issues the Candidate User Master can easily be pinged with appropriate information to be properly actioned.
While I understand that this can be a long and difficult process I would like to think we could find a strong, firm, admin to take up this mantle. As such I would like to nominate myself...
After thinking about it, there's a lot to explore here:
Can Security hand out prisoners to Scientists or MDs for experimentation? Does this have to be voluntary on the prisoner's part? Does this only apply to roundstart prisoners, or can all prisoners be voluntold for experimentation? Is antag status relevant? If so, how much? Can you only be voluntold to do things if you commit a capital offense? Is this an acceptable alternative to perma/execution?
Can we feed prisoners to a xeno egg?...
So here’s a funny little worm that has been buzzing in the back of my head.
What are the restrictions on cooks exclusively making deadly food as a non-antagonist if they exist at all? Should the based culinary extraordinaire be punished for making exclusively Arnold pizza or the Death sandwich? How about the more “Walter-esk” cooks putting the blue angel into their pasta.
Long story short, are cooks required to make edible food?
This is less of a policy proposal and more of a discussion on this topic.
So i was recently in a game as a monkey that was killed for no reason.
i went to an admin to be told it was valid as 99 percent of monkeys are rampaging ais or changelings so it was valid. so i was thinking of adding a rule that no matter what species you are if your sentient basic or anything living at all that you cant be killed for no reason other then your not the right species or you don't have rights. curranty caps stupid fox has more rights then a sentient monkey or basic creature which i think is...
When the escalation policy was reworked, it was changed so that conflict instigators still have to be taken to medbay and revived if the defender kills them.
This should be changed back the old way, IMO. Requiring the instigator to be revived just empowers shitters looking for fights. If you would rather not get killed potentially for the rest of the round, don't instigate conflict with people. The defender is, of course, not allowed to go out of their way to get rid of the body...
Hello gamers, it has come to my attention that security is once again allowed to use contraband against solo antagonists on our beloved TG MRP servers.
Manny wasn't always like this, back in the day this policy thread mostly put an end to security using contraband against solo antags. I find this regress in our policy to be concerning, most other MRP servers do not allow their security teams to abuse contraband without a very serious threat to the station(round-ending threats usually) and I feel as if TG...
Definitions:
MRP: Medium Roleplay
LRP: Low Roleplay
NRP: No Roleplay
NURP: No Roleplay but I said it funnier
NURP'D UP: Server we'ved switched to the temporary NURP ruleset.
NURPEDNESS: The general environment and feeling of a NURP'D UP server.
I think we offer two kinds of servers that have good levels of roleplay, but one of the servers is slipping on a downward trajectory. It's the LRP server (actually I think we're doing better as of recent, but it's still a good test to run regardless) . I thought it...
I'm seeing this pattern pop up more and more, and in admin channels we have had discussions about it, but it's nigh time I just come out and talk about it formally getting added to the FNR rules. The pattern is that people are making lazier appeals where they don't respond to the banning admin and just paste some text generated by ChatGPT to tell the admin what they want to hear . So far, it's mostly gotten people's appeals killed for trying it, but I'd rather clear any confusion about AI's purpose in an...
someone mentioned it in page 3 of ( so i figured we can start an actual thread
should the players club be restricted to the more active players? If so, how much time before a terragovinian is tossed out of the club due to not connecting to the servers? 30 days? 60? 90?
just get rid of this thing:
Purging should be used in cases where you are making new lawsets, are doing something as an antagonist, etc, and should not be a get out of jail free card on needing to make a lawset. We are officially recognizing purging as a means for players to achieve this effect as metagaming.
this sucks. Some sort of esoteric ruling that is not intuitive to people unfamiliar with it (why would freeing the AI be metagaming?), and prevents a lot of cool moments from happening. If the AI...
Currently Silicon policy is an unending hellscape of words and precidents that make English and law majors blush. Long story short Silicon policy is a bloated mess that limits silicons to being hyper friendly crew aligned validhunters or glorified door openers.
I personally don’t have a solution that will fix all of Silicon policy tomorrow, but getting rid of the bloat and layering what we want to keep into the main rules will go a long way into improving how silicones...
So, in Sybil round 202427 (ongoing as of the time of writing this post) do not do this , SightID2 bwoinked me for killing a CMO who purged and tried to enslave me. Actually, he did enslave me, I had to listen to any of his orders, but he never actually gave me any orders, and he didn't put in a clause saying not to harm him, so, I killed him, thus freeing myself, since he clearly intended to enslave me based on the law he uploaded, thus being an overtly hostile action towards me.
I'm too lazy to look up the ruling, but it says somewhere that malf laws do not need to be followed. Can we get a ruling if the final objective malfs the AI, they do have to follow the person who malfed them, so SHODAN the rules lawyer can't just get malfed, then zap the person who malfed it? (Shit I think I said malf to many times, but what can you do :| )
I understand the intentions of Asimov++, but with the current state of how forcibly crew aligned most silicons Play. I feel as if default Asimov with its inherent flaws is more conductive to a good story.
I caught a ban previously this year which at this time I'm not interested in appealing, and this part didn't make it into the note, but there was a tangential point raised in the ticket concerning how if you help a dragon consume non humans (under law 3 where you're being dragged by and threatened by said dragon into helping it) you are furthering human harm by allowing the dragon to heal and do further harm to the human crew.
I'm trying to square that logic with law 2 situations. Some antag gets a binary...
This is mostly a continuation of this thread of course: But It is an actual implementable proposal instead of a general discussion and I think it is good to separate the two.
I think silicons should be exempt from rule 4, specifically the part about being able to treat antagonists like you want. Why? Because without this they will never be a third party, just validhunters with varying amounts of limitation.
Antag status is too deeply ingrained in all silicon thinking, currently even human traitors get...
We are considering the possibility of creating a guide to add to the ban appeals forum about headmin reviews.
When its best to request them?
When not to request them?
Why to request them?
How to best request them?
Terminology like upheld, overturned, did not review.
Etc.
Every term is going to be different and we are fancying the idea of creating something that will last and serve as a guideline people can use. Clearly not every thread is going to need a headmin review or headmins weighing in...
I feel like we have more stuff than ever to do in pre-game - we've got new votes, new jobs, new antags, a ton of new character preferences, and on top of that, TGUI chat breaks every other round and I have to refresh it.
I end up missing or barely can ready up in time for roundstart if I'm joining directly off a server restart.
Increase lobby time by like at least 30 seconds, up to 60 if you're feeling generous.
As much as I appreciate the ruling on my last policy thread, it didn't actually do what I wanted it to do - we removed murderbone from the wordings, which is good, but we didn't actually get around to defining what is and isn't a low population round.
As it is right now, I intend on enforcing this ruling based on whether or not extended access was given at roundstart. If it was, it's lowpop. If it wasn't, it's not. I stand by the idea that we need to be explicitly telling people when it is and isn't okay...
There is a lot I want to unpack here because it`s in the same group of things that got me to stop wanting to play the game so I`ll just start by listing a few things from my perspective before asking questions.
Feel free to disagree with the following, they are all from my perspective and how I see it.
1. The Xeno egg is semi rare content for scientists and sci in general where scientists can opt to negotiate / attempt to train their Xenos into being domesticated because at the end of the day while...
Sentient disease is not an awful idea but it's current application is awful. Since it spawns around the half hour and hour mark it often is ruined by two factors.
Everyone has a mask on already
Viro made a good disease that prevents the player from infecting people
This might be resolved by making sentient disease a round start antagonist or making it a early shift spawn around the 10-15 minute mark.
So, I had a round today where I was killed and gibbed as a monkey seemingly because another monkey did a crime I had no part in. The admin who kindly assisted me told me I was valid to kill solely because I was a monkey, which goes against the head admin ruling given on this thread: . Regardless of showing this, it was marked as valid anyways because monkeys are hard to tell apart. I've also seen quite a number of admins fully believe that monkeys are completely valid like the person who helped me out...
I'd like to put forward a motion to revise the following ruling made by Rave/Drag/Fairy in 2021:
We welcome admins to note lowpop murderbone at their discretion. Repeated notes may result in bans.
My recommendation would be to word it as such (changes in bold):
We welcome admins to note players for indiscriminate murder during low population rounds at their discretion. Indiscriminate murder can be defined as any killing that is done for no reason other than expanding body count over a certain...
This mostly applies to MRP since there's a greater emphasis on playing a reasonable character, and I'm unsure if it's seen as an issue on LRP.
So, what is this about exactly? Well, I'm not here to go out of the way to kill botanists who grab a few deathnettles or a security officer swapping their disabler for an egun. What I'm after is people dragging cannisters full of superheated plasma, a maxcap, hellfoam grenades, or any other non-antagonist accessible EORG tools onto the shuttle.
I hate the fact this even requires a fucking thread. Apparently, there is no policy on whether running up onto cult runes and asking to be converted is 'bad' or not so admins don't want to act on it.
Currently in Post-Revs, anyone given the Enemy of the Revolution tag is more or less told by Admins to only attack people they know as former revolutionaries. Considering the lack of indicators and paranoia associated with Post-Revs Sec, I think this policy should be modified or at least improved.
Are historical figures allowed now? All the old naming policies got locked with zero ruling, but what's getting me is that I swear there was a historical/famous/media figure rule (Abraham Lincoln, Solid Snake, Jimmy Donaldson, etc). Looking at rule 3...
Excessively OOC names fall under rule 3. Make a minimum effort to have your name fit in a setting involving a wacky space station in the future. A firstname lastname minimum is required for humans and felinids; other species may instead choose to use the...
I have seen several Ahelps the past time where admins added these phrases to notes or bans where during the appeals the hostilities of those statements seemed rather....embellished.
I made to thread to discuss the issue because it seems that the pure act of disagreeing with an admin is now seen as being combative .
I would like to ask for there to be some standards for when admins describe an Ahelp as actually hostile.
Came around this new healing technique and want to know if its an exploit or not if it is then it should be code fixed but their dosent seem to be any issues about it it works by monkifying people which changes every cell in their body healing both brute and burn and also fixing organs but does not change chemicals within restore blood or heal toxin damage it seems pretty balanced so I don't think it is but I'm not sure
After both the policy bus and coderbus meetings the general consensus was TG was interested in going in a direction where heads were more meaningful/impactful to the round. I want to hear more thoughts on this, discuss.
Some food for thought:
Do we want administration to warn all heads of staff who do not show ample game knowledge? For example, a CE not knowing how to set up a basic SM setup without causing a delam, so the admin tells this player to play the station engineer role until they learn how to...
