Hello, tg players and other forum-goers! Did you know that March into Mapness has started? Did you know further that means you can submit a mapping pr (fixes, features, changes, whatever) and the first one you submit will get you an ANTAG TOKEN? Until april, we're having a drive to recruit people who have never contributed more into the world of mapping, presenting resources guides, and even a channel just for supporting new mappers to make it as easy as possible to become a...

Currently, we treat the Regal Rat like it's just a regular antagonist instead of a ghost spawner role--but let's face it, it is just a ghost spawner role, and it should be treated as such. You click the funny rat as an observer and you take the role. You even get flavortext!
If you take the role just to murderbone or rush down the engine,...
As I'm sure most people familiar with Sybil are aware, security on Sybil tends to use lethals far more often than nonlethals. So, this leads to a question: can an Asimov AI refuse to reveal the name of a human traitor to security based on that trend and law 1? There's an argument that it would be considered metaknowledge, but players are allowed to know the precise details of game mechanics, including things like antags, so why would this be any different?
So. This is admittedly anecdotal, but it's reaching the point where I wanna try and do something about it, and I'm pretty sure spawn rates are config.
Blob's is way too high. It's reaching the point where I'm starting to see one every second shift, including on Low Pop when the crew's like, 15 people. For a Round-ending antag, that's far too high. Especially for one that actively requires a large crew size to combat it.
Blobs are fine in small doses, but when you see them every second round, they grow...
Disposals trapping (making a 2x2 loop with a chute going into it) is being heavily abused lately and should absolutely be noteable and bannable (repeated offences) if done by a non-antag regardless of the reasoning (because guess what, antags dont want to be instantly round removed by a disposals chute)
reasons why i think this: (no, i did not make a powerpoint presentation)
1. Its basically a round removal unless you get freed, which isnt very likely, and if you're a known antag (wizard, nukies,...
Here's something interesting I never really pondered until it happened today. A hypothetical for you:
Mime joins the round and there's no command structure. They volunteer to take over as HoP and do so silently up until an antagonist kills them. When they come back, they speak, thus breaking their oath. Under the current rules, this makes them valid to attack, but here's where things get weird: Are they still a mime despite having a new job? Do they continue to be open to valids if they talk even if...
this is just an idea but its arguably better in every way than whatever HRP shit is going on with the other naming policy draft (perhaps stolen from bee's naming policy but reworked for TG and not be aids)
Human: Normal human names, the kind that won’t raise an eyebrow if you chose to name your child, although references or names that mention real people are more restricted (e.g. names like Carl Marks are not allowed). This applies to all other races that reference human names. Human names can include...
The naming policy in my opinion, makes zero sense. It disallows silly names and as such, names like Average Joe have been bwoinked/noted, and forced to change, along with some of my own previous characters, Fat Joe Larry Queefmeister , which are understandably silly names. However, we had been playing as these characters for months with no input from any admins, and others with very similar names in the past/present, receiving no such warning/note. I recently inquired whether the name Heisen Berg would be...
Naming policy is a complete joke at the moment, as things stand its entirely based upon the admin's opinion on whether or not said name is acceptable which leads to some names that seem passable being banned while outright meme names being allowed because they don't cross the line enough.
Who could forget 'Pizza Parker', 'John Luck Picknerd' 'Wayne Kingoff' and 'John C Denton'. These very acceptable and not at all references to movies/videogames/rule 8 violations that all exist on MRP of all places where...
People that have broken into the shuttle cockpit or attempting to break into it should be valid to get executed on the spot. There isn't really a good reason to break into the cockpit (aside from NRP I want to be in special place! ), only really terrible reasons such as hijacking. It's quite an obvious and major threat if someone tries to break in the cockpit, so it should be treated that way. The cockpit getting flooded and tided EVERY single round is getting repetitive and tiresome.
I must have forgotten to add this when the filter was expanded, I can't think of any legitimate IC use cases for the term. Additionally, validhunting, validhunter, validhunters and validhunted are already filtered. Might as well add validhunts onto the filter as well.
What the title says, increases the number of roundstart borgs to three.
Pros:
Robos wont need to eat entire station's worth of iron at the start of the round
Silicon players wont need to wait until half of the round to actually play
Cons:
None
As you see this is a clear improvement, please execute immediately.
OwO
Make it clearly defined that In any case where two laws would conflict, the higher-priority law overrules the lower-priority law part of silicon policy means that Definitions and commands contained in laws of higher priority override those in lower priority laws , so there is no possibility to interpret it as permission to invalidate the entire law which contains the conflicting part.
Reduction in ambiguity would help people who aren't used to the apparently unwritten current system not get confused, and...
When making a monkey sentient with a mind-magnification helmet the monkey isn't bound to you or made your slave, so is it valid to kill said monkey if it doesn't follow your orders?
Killing a player that you brought into the round is fair enough, especially if they're not doing the one thing you wanted them to do. But currently the monkey has no obligation to help you, so it's a little iffy.
Additionally, if a fight does occur can the monkey follow normal escalation rules? Or should they act with...
Currently appealing timed bans is almost always completely useless. Someone gets a 3 day ban. Goes into appeals to show it is complete nonsense. Admins write 5 essays worth of text and after 2 weeks headmins finally reply and they go lol yeah this shouldn't have been a ban .
Suspend the bans while the appeal is running so players aren't punished for admin tardiness. Resume the ban if it was actually legit.
What is talk/type baiting?
Talk/type baiting is the act of baiting someone to open the chat window before stunning/attacking them. An example, The HoS walks over to a station engineer, he asks the station engineer Why did I see you walking around medbay maint? . The station engineer goes to respond by opening the talk menu. As soon as the HoS sees the typing indicator he draws his stun baton and stuns the engineer. This gives the HoS a massive advantage in the fight making the engineer's chances of...
Tech storage gets a wall replaced with a false wall every round at roundstart. Some shit keeps opening EVA shutters or asking AI to do so, and sometimes even teleporter shutters. I think this kind of roundstart tiding is just NRP shittery, and should be discouraged.
Roundstart tiding and breaking into areas (including asking AI to open) to get gear for no reason should be considered playing to win, as it ruins the roleplaying experience and gives a shitty repetitive play to win atmosphere at the expense...
being a team antagonist at roundstart requires you to have good game knowledge, skill and etc to begin the snowball
the issue with this comes when a new player decides that picking cult is a good idea.
for all intents and purposes, this is a wasted slot & the new player will have no idea what the fuck they're doing when they're thrust with the expectations of a cultist, and either 1. get caught and throw, or 2. do nothing and throw
example: mime with 5 hours gets roundstart cult, other cultist dies (ME....
Part 1 in a series of new RP-rules focused policy posts aiming to re-assess the RP rules in light of changes to the codebase such as nu-Heretics, Prog Traitors and a change in how players, coders and admins approach round progress.
It is often said that the codebase targets MRP, while our and our .
A big part of comes from the way our RP rules restrict and restrain players. Forming the eye of that storm are our murderboning rules.
I would disagree with a blanket notion that our MRP server is HRP. To...
I've basically thought of SS13 as a perfect game to stream, as someone who used to stream and watch streams of Town of Salem (imagine my shock when someone named john willard talks about town of salem).
Town of Salem and Space Station 13 are pretty similar games in terms of social deduction with different factions, so I thought I would compare the two, for the sake of example.
Town of Salem would generally be called 'NRP' to 'LRP, there's no rules to act like anyone, as long as you do your job (role...
Refer to the title, generally getting fresh blood up in the upper echelons is good for preventing the feared headmin brainworms and burnout.
In terms of actual concrete numbers, I don’t really care. I would just recommend something along the lines of maybe no more than two consecutive terms?
I don’t know it’s early late in the morning and I can’t sleep.
I've raised this proposal a couple times in admin channels, and it's generally approved of there, so I'm gonna post it out here to get more feedback on what the wider Manuel audience thinks of it.
Manuel's been having consistent issues for months centred around low energy rounds where nothing really happens, and I think a large part of the reason for this is the massive negative interaction between the murderbone rules as written and any attempt to engage in large-scale station sabotage. Under the current...
I don't want to make this dumb thread but someone got noted for this. I want it to be perfectly clear if throwing a pie at someone is considered grief. I don't want this to hang in some dumb limbo because of a precedent.
01:02:30: Ticket Opened by-sightld2: You've been spoken to before about repeatedly griefing this exact person. There's no reason for you as an assistant to randomly pie anyone to begin with.
01:03:14: Reply from-ferrolocus: I threw a pie into someone's face how is that griefing...
So I'm going to bring up two things that fall under the title that I think it would be beneficial to discuss and potentially consider, currently OOC in IC is only allowed for teaching players game mechanics, but I think there are some other use cases where it should be allowed.
1: AFK , I think AFK should be removed from the word filter, we have an IC equivalent term SSD however this is already borderline OOC in its use-case and is very unfriendly terminology to new players. While AFK might be immersion...
If someone you are arresting yells out over common that sec is killing them when they are not, they become valid.
If someone falsely yells sec is beating them, they can be beaten to the point of having blunt wounds.
If they want to cry wolf over comms that sec is treating them unfairly, they can actually face whatever abuse they're falsely accusing sec of just to stir shit.
3. For arrested players, timed sentences up to a total of 10 minutes, buckle-cuffing, and stripping, are considered IC issues and are not actionable by admins.
Brig sentences totaling more than 10 minutes can be adminhelped, as can be gulag or perma sentences or a pattern of illegitimate punishment. However, security should refrain from confiscating items not related to any crimes, especially important department-specific items like hard suits. Obvious exceptions to...
With a new upcoming feature by our loved and hated Oranges/optimumtact a new feature is coming making stun batons only stun while in red alert PR being this one:
The new topic of discussion in policy within LRP rules being:
Is it agains't the rules to set the station's alert to Red round start for security officers to be able to use batons?
Hello everyone, Yeah this another policy discussion about silicons joy...
So this policy Thread is about roboticist making one or more ais for no reason other than lolz !
Why is it bad:
-It ruins the gameplay of the main AI(Robbing the main AI of their gameplay of opening doors feels like a dick move to the ai).
-Ghost can metagame (knowing that the ai is malf) by becoming Positronic Brain and asking to be AI.
How can this be fixed.
Making another AI without any ic justification like (Ai is malf, Ai is...
So, a part of silicon policy in regard to asimov states that:
When given an order likely to cause you grief if completed, you can announce it as loudly and in whatever terms you like except for explicitly asking that it be overridden. You can say you don't like the order, that you don't want to follow it, etc., you can say that you sure would like it and it would be awfully convenient if someone ordered you not to do it, and you can ask if anyone would like to make you not do it. However, you cannot...
I've had this opinion for a while, that this change has backfired. The reason we made the shift to Asiimov++ was because it was intended to reduce the stress of Silicon Policy.
Currently, we have a ban appeal where the defense of the banning admin is that the borg couldn't immediately know when the harm becomes non-voluntary . To quickly summarize the situation for anyone not caring about reading it, the banned wanted to be borged, the Roboticist said he couldn't, and then the Banned was table slammed to...
My coworker died to a tider that we mutually fought right outside science. As a scientist on lowishpop I borged him. The admin (Richie99) requested that in the future I take them to medbay instead.
I quote
In the future, do try to give bodies the ol' revive if ya can. After all borging someone does dramatically change the round for them (10 seconds post borging)
Also, if you get bwoinked for forcibly borging someone that ain't a tot/criminal etc I'd suggest taking it on yourself to undo said borgning...
If we trust a person with game permissions why not let them handle forum and discord thingies?
Presumably it'll be less work for the headmins as they wont need to appoint or regulate forum-admins or discordmins....
I just want to ask this because I'm not 100% sure of the reasoning behind it but I am pretty sure that there are better options to solving whatever that problem is.
Latejoin revs sucks. Hamfisting revs in 60 minutes into a round, or 5 minutes before the shuttle arrives delaying the round for 30 minutes that it really should not go for is less than ideal. Either because everyone is too busy dying to something else, or the round has gone on for 30 hours and the friendly blob and friendly xenos are singing kumbayas while the friendly space dragon beatboxes in the background, and the revs sneeze in a slightly socialist manner and get collapsed on by the equivalent force...
I was playing a round as AI today (#195985) in which a human round-start prisoner law 2'd one of my cyborgs to let them free.
The cyborg had, out of curiosity, previously checked for what crimes the prisoner was apprehended for (if you don't know, if you check a perma prisoner's file on a security console, it tells you their IC crime), and it was uploading disruptive laws to the AI .
Anyways to get to the point, the cyborg refused to let the prisoner free as requested. Their reasoning was that by proxy...
I was playing as a while a while ago, and got HOGAN lawset. Anyway, a bit later the RD walks into upload for what I could see, no reason, and I lethal them. Anyway, a admin (who was very nice and no complaints here) contacts me and after a bit of back and forth, explains how murdering a RD while not Asimov is not based without prior interaction, and say next time just say like 'Ayo?' . They explained how murdering somebody without any prior interaction is not cool, and how shoot first ask questions later...
These are rampant in the Admin Complaints forum right now; people will post admin complaints specifically because an admin did not server ban the opposing party in an ahelp.
There are THREE open as of the posting of this thread.
Ban Requests were terrible drama farms that were generally unhelpful for the community, so why are we still allowing them to exist? They contribute to admin burnout by making people slug it out on the forums, and for what? Because a player disagrees with the punishment the admin...
Terry struggles with 80-90 pop rounds. Most subsystems are slowed significantly, and it becomes extremely obvious. I don't think there's a point in letting Terry reach 90 pop when we have Campbell.
Hello admin team, I've got a question for you.
What should your role be in managing the meta of the game?
I've run into problems where literally everyone agrees a group of players are ruining the game by abusing some niche X or Y, but none is willing to ban them because of rule 4.
I'm talking about singlecaps here but this is a problem we have more generally. Everyone playing the game will agree that doing X constantly is bad, but the admin team is unwilling to take any direct action on it, because of...
im not the only person that agrees luxury shuttle is a massive change to game balance as a whole: if you have an ID you have to go out of your way to make sure you have enough money by the time the shuttle arrives, if you dont have an ID or cant have one you're pretty much fucked over as the main bulk of the luxury shuttle is surrounded by invincible walls/windows
this has only become a problem as a certain someone has been buying it every single round, and majority of players get pissed about it from...
ok apparently you can kick shitcuritys shit in (or just ahelp them), who wouldve guessed, apparently just no one ever ahelps and just complains, also good information in the thread, actually let me quote some good stuff
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If a security officer crits and kills a botanist for literally growing weed, how is the conflict “over”? The botanist can absolutely retaliate and...
I have seen an excessive amount of NRP shuttle votes where they ask people to say Y or N as an answer, and quite a lot of people mindlessly say Y or N . It's just so frequent and the volume of infractions that occur is just too much to include in an ahelp. I think adding these to the word filter will make those events more manageable, as well as reminding people that they are failing the bare minimum of RP.
So it was recently brought up to me that despite people saying that it was against the rules. Randomly checking traitors for implants with no evidence of their existence is apparently not covered at all in policy (Maybe RP Rule 8? Hence why the MRP tag here). Personally I'm under the impression that its always been against the rules considering you're not allowed to use the MMI method on lings at all. And without evidence beforehand it really can seem like power gaming, some clarification would at least...
This is a thought I've had kicking around in my mind for the last month or so, making all permanent role bans show up on Permanent Role Bans encompass any job bans, any antagonist bans, and bans from stuff like OOC and AHELPs that do not have any expiration date. Here's a why I think it's a good idea:
The very first reason is that all permanent role bans, if the player wants to get it lifted, must be appealed. All ban appeals are public, and all ban appeals must include the reason for the ban....
Currently it is very unclear whether or not killing conversion antagonists in situations where there is no danger present and deconversion is readily available is actionable.
While I do not think killing conversion antagonists should be against the rules entirely, in situations where it is completely safe and hardly an inconvenience I believe it should be a breach of rule 12.
I saw a scenario where this happened the other day and after asking an admin this question today I was met with an answer saying...
There is a somewhat informal approach to administration that I follow as an admin:
If a non-sec is acting as if they are station security, I hold them to the same standards as security.
I apply this principle the same across LRP and MRP. I believe this should be formally written policy.
Why?
It doesn't make sense to roll non-sec and then bypass all the expectations of sec officers. At that point, there's no reason to join the sec team except for the RP and banter. If you just want to hunt valids, then...
On Lrp the instant gib rifle often leads to mass murder. Instead of having having to fear that you'll catch a ban for using it as intended (mass murder). Holding the instant gib rifle should grant you antagonist status as long as you have it in your possession.
As of the outdated head admin ruling was archived on the head admin rulings page however it was not replaced with the more recent ruling made in
I've had to go searching for this ruling to cite it recently and I think its important enough that it should be included in the head admin ruling page.
We've not seen these used since my term, we should bring them back.
Policybus allowed for fast paced policy discussion with more back and fourth that served as a great compliment for the forums. They also helped improve transparency of policy discussion by having headmins show their thought process in full view.
We currently have policy threads falling onto page 2, an active discussion of these policy threads that involves the headmins might help to actually get responses on them if the headmins don't...
