Planet Station Development Discussing the mapping/spriting/coding efforts involved in creating a version of SS13 that takes place on a planet surface. Will be finished Soon(TM)
A shape with 18 sides is called octakaidecagon or octadecagon.
A regular octadecagon cannot be constructed using a compass and straightedge

TGStation13 Ideas Subforum Rules
When in doubt about any of these rules, ask the mods.
1.) Global Forum rules apply
2.) This is not a political platform. That being said, this is not the place to discuss past or current concerns about the code.
3.) Following the above rule, this is not the place to discuss how to improve TGStation13's coding process. Go to our Discord channel instead.
4.) This is a place to develop ideas for the game.
5.) Do not post bug reports here, create a report on the Github issue...
The chef vending machine should have a pair of tongs in it. Tongs allow you to pick up food from a tile away and also feed people from a tile away, so you can pick up a burger and feed it to a fellow over the counter. This prevents hands touching the food and spreading the germs.
Tongs also made a satisfying clicking noise when you clack them together. The autolathe can print many tongs so we can have a crab rave.
Using the tong on a person with no food in it tongs them. They have been tonged!
I've seen people being picky about the current TTS.
I think the TF2 mercs are probably the best of what we have right now.
Mothblocks' blips PR got reverted within 3 days.
Would it be possible to add some voice types, with particular accents instead of specific video game characters?
instead of the command staff having their vitals monitored by suit sensors like PEASANTS, they should have chips in their brains that start on full sensors. They can also be removed by surgery
i think words like FUCK and SHIT shouldn't be automatically translated so if you are a lizard who doesn't speak galactic common you will hear like Bizouxein dexting FUCK dzxingpa SHIT and if a lizard speaks in draconic near a human it's a bunch of hissy noises but also BITCH and SSSHIT
i think cusses should be universal so i know if someone is mad
An energy weapon attachment (Or a new gun altogether) As an internal bullet fabricator built into it which runs off the materials you insert into it and recharger power, You still have to recharge it like a regular energy gun, as it runs on both materials to make bullets and recharger power to print them, no magazines unlike regular ballistics.
Think of it like a golem consuming minerals, but its a gun consuming it for special bullets.
Special effects of bullets:
Iron: Nothing
Glass: Increased embed...
Easiest way would be to make it an overlay/something similar to a hud icon. An examine message would work too but players would still act like they panicked and attacked before examining to justify a kill.
I only bring this up because often players will pretend that they don't know a sentient mob is sentient even ignoring its irregular movement just so they can get a free kill in. Most simple mobs are not only significantly flimsier, but also harder to revive. (Strange reagent/the miner sentience item...
Hello. There's been somewhat recently a decree (or more accurately request) for there to be some focus on technological antags and whatnot.
There's too much focus on magic, we have wizard, cult, heretic, and even some of the more esoteric things we got are most definitely not science (Skeletal pirates for example, or nightmares)
I think a large part of the issue is how it's hard to come up with something that doesn't feel like it could just be a.. pirate. Or part of fugitives/bounty hunters. Or a...
I get it, perma prison roles are supposed to be for RP or lounging around or for testing mechanics in the limited functionality of perma-wing, rather than being an excuse to be a dick or killing sec.
But imagine if they had a very low chance of rolling changeling at roundstart.
I think it could create some quite scary situations. The perma prisoners have no radios. No way out. Does the 'ling go quiet and sneakily absorb anyone unlucky enough to be trapped inside with it, or does it try and escape...
Deep Core Drilling, TG style
All of this refers to Lavaland Mining, but Icebox can easily work with this
Me and the boys in TGeneral thought about bitrunners and miners and said “just add Deep Dives'’ so here I am writing about it on a google doc because the forums are down. Enjoy?
The Drill
You and your dwarven wanna-be’s in arms head to the Deep Drill Pod which (at least in my vision) will have 4 seats (so you aren't constantly falling when the drill moves) and a few turrets with a big (but...
Long into the future someday /tg/ will get a better server so it can host more people. 250 player rounds! But the issue with 250 player rounds is that said rounds will last microseconds and there is not enough space to hold that many people. delta and meta maybe have a chance but still. So why not prepare a map for it?
So we are going to divide the map into 3 sections which each have different social statuses depending on what is housed there.
Downtown will have engineering and cargo as those two have...
I think there should be a stamina cost on parrying/blocking with swords and whatnot, shields atleast stun when they take too many hits but for swords it seems to be flat advantage
You can use wirecutters to cut open side of cardboard ID and insert your ID in, then use sticky tape to close side of cardboard ID. With ID in cardboard one, it will have same access as normal ID.
I think it will be good for cardboard IDs and it will make them used way more than now
Head coders have approved a cosmetic loadouts system. Please use this thread for ideas on what kinds of things should be in them.
For reference, we will *definitely* include things like existing heterochromia and pride pin quirks, and scarves. We will *probably* add coats (I want them at least). We will *not* be adding equipment, tools, etc. We want this to be a choice of primarily fashion. Prosthetics and nearsighted, for instance, will not be moved from quirks to loadouts at this time.
really sick of antagonists getting the GAMER IDEA to fucking cut off their arm round start and then running around acting like fucking shitheels and giggling to the bank that they can't be cuffed and then crying that people round removed them instead of capturing and interrogating them
I know, I know, this will definitely fuck up parity with all other codebases. You can't 'use your old songs', but frankly, the current system we use is so god-awful it's not worth keeping. It's from 2013 and it's really just completely garbage. It runs like shit, it's super buggy, and doesn't really support any music more complex. Even in songs that are entirely a single track it runs and sounds like absolute shit. Only a few select songs that have been specifically tweaked and tuned over and over again...
I'm here to propose a solution for both Cytology and Genetic's problems: Cytogenetics.
Full idea breakdown:
Basically, the idea is that Cytology's problems (lack of content, lack of space in most maps) and Genetic's strenght (tons of content, good space on most maps) solve eachother out while Genetic's problems (too easy and too isolated from the rest of the round) can be solved by Cytology's strenghts (has a good deal of difficulty and requires interacting with the rest of the round).
My suggestion is simple, if we are already going to force an acting captain, we may as well just do our best to get a proper captain into the position first. If we haven't gotten a captain yet, and if there is ANYONE who has put in their preferences for captain that doesn't have an antagonist role, we make them captain. Captain less shifts suck, and acting captains aren't as good as real ones.
HRF, welding gasmask, RCD & RPD, magboots, forcefield projector... and a very sheety machine , all on the same tech node, which is uncommonly selected these days.
Besides turning camera obscura pictures into hauntium(doesn't store it safely, like the autolathe), it is only used for making silly little meat blocks.
It is a harmless gimmick machine. It's even available from the service lathe.
I think putting it on a more accessible node, like BioTech would be reasonable.
Combat defibs were made a traitor-only weaponry as of
This limits the sandbox pretty heavily, the maintainer that merged it expressed that non-antags having combat defibs is fine, but it was too easily attainable indicating a possible return.
This was standard balancing regarding crew-sided weaponry as you have to balance crew weaponry around that there's either going to be a lot of it, or it has to be rare but powerful.
If it something WAS too common and and very good crew weapon, it would get spammed...
Alright hear me out. What if we got rid of all of the bad unnessicary clothing in the game that serves no purpose other than to muddle up peoples spites, with the apparent benefit of people being able to personalize how their characters look. Spacemen playing dress up doesn't seem to fit the setting very much at all. By my count we have a whopping three-hundred-thirty-three under suits, with only forty crew jobs in the game, and twelve antagonists that have specific uniforms (see spoiler) Lets also take...
I feel as if blood brothers are very weak. I am suggesting these buffs in order to bring them on-par with other antagonists like traitors, changelings and heretics.
Bbs can alt click on certain machines to tamper with which emags them after a certain time.
Receive codewords, to identify other traitors and BBs
Start with a storage implant, containing a random low-cost syndicate item, up to a Makarov pistol.
These changes, will enhance the general power level of blood brothers, and may even make them...
So, progression traitor paints every traitor as a syndicate agent contractor, who rises through the ranks of syndicate fame and preforms objectives explicitly for the syndicate and is seemingly sponsored and individually recognized by the syndicate The objectives are all represented as being posted from being from syndicate command, and many of them included and utilize syndicate iconography, with the most glaring examples being the syndicate graffiti objective, and the syndicate posters objective....
I know a lot of you, me included, are yearning for stations that aren't as basic as Meta/Delta but Birdshot ain't it. It sucks.
Bad layout, poorly designed departments (there's no public part to the chapel, Science is split a million weird ways, the brig is all over the damn place), on top of it just being ugly as hell (I know it was made with the intention of being a messy drug-den-esque station but all stations look like that an hour into a red shift). It also turns into the ultimate firelock hell the...
So I've had an idea recently to reimagine mood and sanity into a system which acts less like Sims moodles and more like a stress meter that is more actively managed. A transition from making mood less of the current circumstances that your character finds themselves in and more of a gradual building up of stress that your character will eventually have to take some time relaxing to recover from. It might sound a little lame to have to worry about having to manage another meter but hear me out because I...
This is an open invitation for RedBaronFlyer to come in and complete the details, but the basic gimmick of this is that the Sindrian Diktat ship can fly the crew back to Centcomm in half the time. The thing is that trip is broken down by 2.5 minutes to the Gas Station, 5 minutes of refueling while the denizens of the gas station harass the crew, or try to accomplish some objective while the crew is stuck there, and then another 2.5 minutes to reach central command. That's right, when I said it was half the...
we should have a thread for designing borg models because i think the last one we got added was the three medibots in a trenchcoat and i think itd be fun if we had more
post borg ideas you have, no drawing skills needed even if its just a garbage ms paint doodle i want to know what you think a cool cyborg would be
here is my cool idea for a cyborg model
he became an engiborg because he has a lot of arms but he could also be a mediborg if you made him blue and filled his side tubes with salicylic acid
as a medical main i am frequently confronted with fellow players who do not know how to handle toxin damage. i am frequently having to pull bodies away from assistants who keep slapping patches on someone and wondering why they're not standing as they are overdosing on every chemical in the game. i was wondering if it would be possible to make blood filtering an upgradable surgery like tend wounds is because sometimes its really fucking time consuming to completely filter someones blood of chemicals. it...
Right now, cargo goodies are pretty boring, most people don't really privately buy stuff and instead steal from places to obtain said items.
This suggestion attempts to add some more rare and unique items to cargo goodie packs, encouraging people to engage with the economy to obtain them (or steal them from other people who bought it, creating conflict)]
Advanced insulated gloves. (CE gloves)
Power tools?
Maybe even R&D weapon kits? instead of waiting on science to research what you want, you buy it for...
when i play miner, i like saving my points up for a bunch of bluespace capsules and making a village, but there are two things that make this difficult
the first is placing, i think it would be a good change to have the circles you see when a shuttle is landing outline the area the capsule will take up. its less noticeable with the basic capsule, but makes it a pain with the larger ones
the second is variety, theres only three capsules, and two are functionally identical. i thought about it for a bit, and...
When we go look at the job-restricted section on the tgstation syndicate items page, we see traitor items that seem to benefit, or otherwise theme/match the job. At first glance me removing the locks might be noob bait as an assistant with a blast cannon wont find much use, compared to a scientist or research director.
However, i find it too restrictive, say i manage to steal a chemdispenser, or become a chemist from another job at the HOP line. Then the reagent dartgun is LOCKED haha YOU GOT OWNED!!
What...
To encourage people to explore space more and add some new ways for rounds to pan out, I thought it would be cool to add a few things to derelict in order to make it more interesting to visit:
- A broken grav gen that can be repaired for the station
- A few 02/Air canisters
- Maybe a tele or something similar
- Some kind of defunct atmos system
Thoughts? The only downside I could think of would be encouraging people to throw themselves off the station more.
Current guns available to the crew on tg code (I play on fulp and yog btw) are somewhat bland and uninteresting. I've also Noticed Cobby and Necromanceranne have been pushing for more laser based guns and ballistics being fewer in quantity. Since Necromanceranne wants to push for a laser focused arsenal, i feel the need to propose a few special laser guns that have been sitting in the code for a while these are:
A little piece of music I wrote basically just about Engineering, but that got recommended to me would make a decent menu theme. I thought no better than to attempt to try to contribute it to the game directly.
I dunno if that's a good enough mode of sharing the file or not, but, if nothing else I do have discord and an admin can PM me inquiring about it or smth, I dunno. Figured this may be worth a shot.
As of right now, doing toxins feels stale, you have all that hard worked tritum burned ready. You could refine some cores, but only really bluespace cores are important. Publishing papers doesnt yield much as much as you think, even for maxcaps. Gas shells are just for experimentation.
There isnt much options to do with your bombs, oh well with being a non-antag (and not getting banned)
Whats your explosive ideas that we could give to the toxins department?
One of my ideas would be a cargo bounty system,...
We have jumpsuits and jumpskirts, but what about jumpshorts? Cargo techs have them and look stylish when wearing them, why can't the rest of the station have them?
Picture this: You are a highly trained and skilled detective marching onto the scene of a crime! You carefully scan each and every bit of evidence and find something with prints on it. You find no fingerprints, but are lucky enough to find a single strand of fiber from a person's clothing! Your scanner tells you it is a Blue Suit Fiber . CASE CLOSED! KNOW WHY? BECAUSE ONLY ONE PERSON HAS A BLUE SUIT ON AND ITS THAT DAMN LAWYER!
Forensic scanner is way too good at what it does. Even if a person is smart...
A lot of admins don't seem to like prayer as it currently exists. One way to resolve this would be be sacrifice. Gods can react to prayer either by demanding the sacrifice of an object on their person, like their ID or traitor PDA. Others can be special objects which are an unreasonable demand for an unreasonable request, like sacrificing the nuclear authentication disc (randomly respawning it somewhere on the station), or the cap's laser gun.
Basically it would force players to put their money where...
Ever since heretics was added back their sacrifice wouldn't gib and drop organs anymore. This is a problem since most of the recipes for heretic rituals all assume that you would easily be able to make them with the organs you get from sacrificing. this has lead to encourage more murderboning with their blades instead of using all the cool neat little rituals you can do to achieve your objectives. (getting the organs through other means takes way too long anyways why bother?)
I know organs sometimes spills...
A machine that, when turned on, will slowly attact every metal object that is on the floor towards it into a nice pile. All metal tiles, rods and plates on the floor will automatically be put into stacks. Can be moved (portable)
Emagged state: The metal objects will fly through the air at high speeds and imbed into people. Will disarm people holding metal objects.
I was thinking it might be a good idea to implement a whitelist for ERT/Marine commanders, maybe even officials too. this wouldn't affect your chances of getting ERT, only which ERT role you'd be given.
I'm basing this off of a typical ERT round where players don't really operate under the commander in most cases, as its been randomly assigned and the person that got it, may not want to command, or may not even realize they were chosen to lead the team. this usually results in the ERT team splitting up...
