I mean I like the new sprites; but the sheer shit spewing whining that is coming for the baby faced thin skinned children is frankly pathetic; people criticising your art is not the end of the world, put on your big boy panties and remove your butt plug.
See, noone is criticising his art though, they're just throwing their toys out of the pram and shouting buzzwords like "iconic" and "2goon"

This game is 100% fueled by the players, the fact that some of them are disliking it because they think it is not part of the SS13 look for this player base is criticism; criticism does not have to be based on technical structure. They do look like copy and pasted goon sprites, I don't see an issue with that because I like them. But screeching and stamping your feet is the most fantastically childish thing you can do and is remarkably unproffessional. If a monkey launches shit at you the proper response is not to then take a dump on your hand and throw it back.

So tell that to the side that don't want change.
Come on now, you can't think its so one sided.

They gave the toolbox fucking depth which most items in this game have.

We shoudl just start a kickstarter for ausops to resprite the entire game maybe then you fucks will stop

Toolboxes ARE iconic, though. The item has a strong association with the game, even the buzzword "robust" that everyone knows as meaning "excelling at combat" is a thing that originated from toolboxes.

The toolbox sprite is one of the very few items that has not changed since the inception of SS13, and primarily for the sole reason that the toolbox is a symbolic item embodying the virtues of Space Station 13.

The reason most people hate this change is that you're not just respriting any object, you're respriting an object that has a legacy in its own right. The toolbox sprite is a reminder of an older, simpler time of spacemans, and is a direct reference to the original game art, just like how we have a ruin using old SS13 sprites, and the direlect, which is one of the original station designs.

The toolbox and the security cameras are the only two sprites I know of that have remained all but unchanged since the inception of SS13, more or less.

The fact its a iconic sprite, grandfathered if you will, is a legitimate complaint.

I also like the fact that a lot of the people supporting this aren't doing anything to refute the reasoning given for reverting the change, they're just calling everyone names and likening us to autistic screaming manchildren.

It almost seems sort of ironic, like dealing with 10 goofballs at once.

I prefer the old sprites. I mean 'cleaner perspective' or whatever nonsense that is only really works if you do a goddamn top to bottom overhaul of every sprite ever. Plus the poor :tile: will look stupid if you change the sprite, think of the floorbots.

I seriously dislike the new sprites. It, honestly, looks ugly compared to our old ones, and I generally dislike most of the sprites on Goonstation. They have some cool ones, sure, but I have played it recently, and its art style is barely bearable.

Single latch is superior

Keep double latch sprites as toolbox mimics that lurk in maintenance and nibble on grays.

jumpsuits are sort of on the side but I'll come back to them
I'm working on turfs and machines right now because that should have logically been the first thing to change, if you change the environment then the things inside it will feel more at home

I don't know what you mean by "fix"
I thought the red was cool but if you don't like it, you can change it

two red lines

completely unneeded change, it's already going to be bloody. I just hope that joan can fix it because he merged it anyways, but my god those lines just look ugly

If we're in the midst of a massive sprite revamp project, a general "new" and "old" pref actually isn't a bad compromise

It is actually.
We can drip feed people changes one sprite/itemtype at a time.

Where as if we allowed people to stay on the old sprites until the overhaul was done (at which point we'd remove the option to show old sprites), they'd immediately be confused.

Make new the default, and make a classic option. It'll make the autists shut up, I promise.
