The animation I've noticed when I tried it a few times on some objects actually looks nice now because it doesn't shake. It just goes directly onto you.

i think we did it, guys.

1441 crashes too though, doesn't it? what's the new version that doesn't crash

there's also this bug https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/issues/39267 that makes it so if you take an emag out of your storage implant it does a dance on your character roughly the size of it being on the ground

Cool feature. This makes the game feel a lot more polished, adding more feedback, but this should have a config behind it, along with all the other visual upgrades (sans lighting, for gameplay reasons). Parallax, attack anims, this, and ambient occlusion could all be in their own separate visual options grouping in the preferences. The weird thing is the game options are in the character setup menu when they should really be an entirely different options menu, with only antag preferences/pda colors being tied to your character.

Lots of people really love the original goon leak look & feel, but forcing visual improvements (again, that aren't big things like lighting) onto people isn't that great.

I haven't played in a while and came back to this being in the game

I don't know why anyone would want to revert it, it's pretty neat, it's useful to see if someone grabs something from a big pile of things

It is a good change, provides visual feedback to people picking up items or taking items out of their backpack/toolbelt, but not items out of their pocket.

It should be clear when someone grabs something, I dont know why people are complaining.

The main problem is that it ruins the tiny bit of stealth SS13 has. There are a lot of cool moments when you grab something in front of security and they don't notice its missing till its too late and you are out of the area. Now there is a massive animation basically shouting- LOOK AT ME I STOLE SOMETHING PLEASE KILL ME-.

By removing some of the cool stealthier things you are pushing the development to a specific play-style when SS13 should be a multiplayer sandbox with multiple play styles. The argument that well it works that way in real life shouldn't be a factor either because this is a game that is supposed to be for fun. Adding unfun mechanics that add nothing but make the game closer to real life is the hight of stupidity. It is the same reason why TG station players mock baystation players. Of course in a massive corporate space-station they would require paper forms for every little thing or that a bullet would most likely kill/disable you for the rest of the round but that isn't fun which is why we don't push for those type of mechanics/play styles because realistic DOES NOT equal fun.

The only way such a mechanic would work in this game while also keeping the steathly moments would be if a line of sight mechanic was added to the game with infrequent blinking. This way you could time your thefts for when either their back is turned or when they blink. The only issue with this is that it has been tried in the past and the playerbase as a whole hated it so it was removed which is the proper move for such a widely hated change that adds nothing to the health of the game as a whole. This brings me to my third point of which the people of spoken. Even if you are kind and combine the people who like the change and people who dislike it not but are willing to like it with some changes there is STILL a vast majority of people who dislike this change. By creating a poll and then coming out and saying -YOUR OPINIONS DON'T MATTER BECAUSE THIS FEATURE IS GOOD AND YOU ARE DUMB FOR NOT LIKING IT (I'm looking at you goofball and orange)- that is just an insult to the playerbase. If you don't want our opinions or are not willing to remove this feature then you should have either not allowed this forum thread or locked it down and deleted it a long time ago because it is clear that this entire fucking thread if worthless.

That is why I'm complaining Dr.bee and the many people i talk to agree with my opinions. I'm sorry for such a massive post but i wasn't sure how to condense it and still get all my points across. Have a good day

It's hard to take this kind of feedback seriously when it's mixed in with hyperbolic nonsense such as
Pizzatiger wrote:Now there is a massive animation basically shouting- LOOK AT ME I STOLE SOMETHING PLEASE KILL ME-.
Being able to steal stuff in plain sight because the item is buried under a pile of stuff that obscures its sprite isn't stealth, it's abusing the terrible lack of visual feedback and you should try a little harder going forward

I wasn't really talking about situations where it buried in a pile of stuff. I was talking about any situation where you nab something and security doesn't notice it being gone. Those are cool moments for me and i feel like they are ruined because of this change. Stealth is really hard to do in this game by the way it is designed and i feel like this change is another step away from stealth

Make the animation speed up varying on the size of the item. Tiny is practically instant, small is very fast, normal is normal, bulky is slow. Bam stealth's back.

Nope. Weight != sprite size.

Stand still with walk on for X seconds, to enable pickpocket mode. It could hide the chat messages as well.

would it be possible to make the animation only show up to yourself and people within a tile of you when you pick a tiny item up, three tiles for small, and everyone can see normal up?

I haven't actively been trying to exploit this bug but you can see people taking stuff through walls with mesons on atm.
