The transparent part in the middle looks really ugly when it's on top of a grille. (Well, it looks ugly in general...) A clean open square would be nicer.

One assistant with fire axe can decompress all those public hallways.

Sure, it can be done now, but with three times as many hits.

You.. haven't been paying attention, have you?

The full windows are going to have the same health as two side windows. Same amount of hits.

Also, assistants that do that should be arrested and/or banned.

You.. have no idea what you're talking about, are you?

Let me enlighten you.

Code: Select all

/obj/item/weapon/twohanded/fireaxe/afterattack(atom/A as mob|obj|turf|area, mob/user as mob, proximity)
	if(!proximity) return
	if(A && wielded && (istype(A,/obj/structure/window) || istype(A,/obj/structure/grille))) //destroys windows and grilles in one hit
		if(istype(A,/obj/structure/window)) //should just make a window.Break() proc but couldn't bother with it
			var/obj/structure/window/W = A

			new /obj/item/weapon/shard( W.loc )
			if(W.reinf) new /obj/item/stack/rods( W.loc)

			if (W.dir == SOUTHWEST)
				new /obj/item/weapon/shard( W.loc )
				if(W.reinf) new /obj/item/stack/rods( W.loc)
		qdel(A)
In case you didn't notice

Code: Select all

//destroys windows and grilles in one hit

So? That's a FIREAXE. Only on the bridge and Atmos.
Which a assistant (Which is what you said, not atmos techs) SHOULDN'T have access to. And as said, Assistants that do that should be arrested and/or banned.
I admit that I missed that you specified Fireaxe the first time, but the point still stands.

Anyone with fireaxe then.

Gee. That was kind of my point.

What point stands? That nobody will ever get a fire axe without being caught? That a laughable point.

Anyway, it's not a huge deal, especially considering that doing this now would also be pretty easy, but this change would make it three times easier and harder to repair properly (because grilles would still be there). Oh and with slow space it could become a nightmare.

wow there is a single powerful item in the game and thus fulltile windows suck

in case you didnt notice, the fireaxe is a large item, has to be wielded, theres only two of them etc
repairing that window really isnt that hard.

I'll just nerf fire axes if people are being dicks with them and using them for nothing but insta breaches.

Until then, I'd like to remind you all that intentionally causing breaches to space is a capital offense (grand sabotage) and worthy of permabrig, or if authorized; execution/borging.

https://tgstation13.org/wiki/Space_law#Capital_Crimes

No, I'm not kidding, it's just that breaches have been harder to make until now so it was rarely punished. Have fun security. Obviously this doesn't include breaching into space to get onto the shuttle when the doors are electrified so don't think you won't get jobbanned for lasering someone to death for that.

At no point did I say that fulltile windows suck. I just pointed out a potential problem.

And yeah, apparently clicking on the grille with glass will now produce a fulltile window under the grille, so repairing is all right.

Too opaque, I think. The fact that they conceal more of the grille makes them look stronger or thicker than the reinforced kind. The old sprites are very transparent, giving them a thinner weaker appearance.

Supposed to make fixing windows easier, right?

I like how he just gave up and started walling it off.

He could've literally just grabbed some reinforced glass and slapped it on the grilles.
That being said, I am enjoying how much easier it is to undo windows in the central halls now. No need to cut grilles or deconstruct multiple windows, just screwdriver/crowbar/screwdriver once and shove. Do this as an atmos tech and turn off the vents in the central hallways for hilarity. (only as an antag though)

Well, eventually the area behind the grilles would've been so filled up with glass that he wouldn't be able to push them out anymore!

Please make reinforced window deconstruction take about the same time it would to break it with a common weapon.

Thanks pap you promised to do it thanks.

I think that's already the case, though? You can't just click + switch + click + switch + click + pull the way you used to be able to. There's a pretty significant time lag for each step in the deconstruction.

But it's not instant any more, it takes some time.

I miss directional windows. They had the added bonus of being useful for making inset tunnels away from deliberate breaches, so that you can wind around and not immediately drain all the air from the room you needed to get into.

They weren't even hard to make you just had to click with reinforced glass on a grill.

Personally I dislike the delay with securing/unsecuring windows for the same reason I disliked the big table construction delays. It makes building stuff and building projects much, much more annoying.

You can still make directional windows, just click the glass in hand.

But it doesn't fix windows that are already part of the station. I remember a time when you could shatter the outer pane of the escape shuttle's cockpit and hide away from spess in there without risking the shuttle's atmosphere.
