No. This is just going to turn into yet another episode of "bus makes a change nobody wanted but them and insults the players for complaining"

Nobody is saying they're better because they're different.
They're better because they're better... they're just better quality sprites.

Actually, the original PR had a positive upvote ratio.
Your next line will be "github circlejerk votes don't count though"

They apparently count more than player votes on the forum. As they always have, for obvious reasons.

I'm looking at these, and I can't see how the Goonsprites could be something that someone made after the sprites we currently use.
Who sees sprites which have a three-dimensional perspective, good for showing the object and says "HOLD MY BEER"?

The new sprites are shaded better but the old sprites are drawn from a slightly different perspective that makes them actually look like toolboxes rather than indistinct oblongs
Danno's new PR fixes that to an extent 'cause the slight tapering at the top around the lid makes it actually look like a three-dimensional object rather than looking like the roboticist literally has a picture of a toolbox on his table.

very nice compromise by our good friend danno that looks much nicer:
(new sprite's on the left)
what do you guys think? it's got single latches and the same size as the original toolbox sprite, i think it is a ton nicer

tbh the slightly large "goon" version looks pretty nice. And not just as a "HURR WE'LL COMPROMISE" thing.

Vast improvement over the super flat goonsprites.

yeah i dont know about you guys but i'm super sold on these new ones, they've got that cleaner perspective and shading of the goon sprite with the size, aesthetic, and general style of the old sprite
danno you shoulda lead with these

Re: Toolbox sprites

The short version is that people going "hurf durf you guys don't like change" when people raise criticisms of the sprites are retards, cramming the first sprite through and cheridan acting all "IT'S CHANGED IT'S FINAL" while plugging his ears at any and all feedback is his single worst attribute, and danno is based as fuck for taking the concerns raised about the first batch of goonsprites and turning them into something better
edit to note that "ree nothing should change ever" is just as retarded as change for change's sake

Cheridan wrote:to those complaining that the new ones are too tiny, it's literally 2px difference on all sides.
also on this
on a sprite as small as 32x32, "only 2 pixels" can make a big fucking difference. 4 pixels is an eighth of the entire width of the tile, which the toolbox didn't fill in the first place - the old sprite is 22x15 pixels, so that "only 2px on all sides" is a
40% reduction in area.
Or you can just open the sprites PK quoted and use your damn eyes to see what difference "literally 2px difference" makes.

Normally I don't mind new sprites, but the toolbox sprite is a legacy from the original SS13. If we're going to keep a single set of sprites the same in the game forever, I'd want it to be toolboxes.

I must say these new toolbox sprites have been a rousing success. Never before have I been motivated to interact with toolboxes more.
Spilling out their innocent contents and feeding these bottom of the toilet loaves to the crusher was an absolute delight.
Depriving others of the harrowing experience of beholding uninspired goon rips was a height of public service and kindness to my fellow crew members.
I advise any other right thinking space dweller to do the same. Don't be afraid to space them if the crusher is out of power the important thing is to remove them from sight.

Change is not synomous for better.
I mean I like the new sprites; but the sheer shit spewing whining that is coming for the baby faced thin skinned children is frankly pathetic; people criticising your art is not the end of the world, put on your big boy panties and remove your butt plug.

See, noone is criticising his art though, they're just throwing their toys out of the pram and shouting buzzwords like "iconic" and "2goon"
