Smuggler's Satchel - The idea is fantastic. Store items between one round to the next. The execution has issues. If it gets removed it's no longer there. That was great before the station getting nuked actually nuked the station (wait is this even still a thing?)

Power Beacon - 14 TC to summon engine types that no longer exist. Feels like a giant fuck you every time you get one out of a surplus crate.

Radioactive Microlaser - Gives the player a message that you scanned them. Doesn't take effect in any timely manner. If you're using it in medbay you may as well just sleeper morphine them. If you use it anywhere else they have a good minute to cry out or get somewhere safe. The role restricted comment was a good one.

The Suppressor? - I feel like I should look for the how often is this purchased stat, but it seems bad since it makes it into a larger item after.

I feel like we could do without the weapons, or at least those like the ebow/esword that never run out and are vastly better than any obtainable station counterpart.

I don't know shit but here we go

- Powerfist
Never seen this used, and according to the wiki it's bugged anyways. Falls under the just another muderbone tool category

- Various 10mm ammo
I've heard in ghost chat this is bugged/broken? If so it should be removed, or fixed and re-added. Armor piercing rounds is a cool idea for hardsuit wearing targets.

- Martial Arts Scroll
So expensive, never seen used maybe it's secret op?

- Box of Throwing Weapons
Bad/neverused

- Toy Gun with Riot Darts
Probably unpopular opinion, but I'm not a fan of this item. Turning a fake-traitor weapon back into a real traitor weapon is a weird concept, and it's too strong for it's cost. Also off tone for a terrorist organization.

- Pizza Bomb
Dumb gimmick/never used

- Universal Suppressor
Maybe turn into suppressed 10mm gun?

- Dehydrated Space Carp
Never used/shit

- Syndicate Surgery Duffelbag
Should only be an option if your task requires it (de-brain etc.)

- Artificial Intelligence Detector
Never used. It does fill a niche though, so maybe keep it.

- Power Beacon
Things it effects aren't in game regularly. Remove until they are.

- Radioactive Microlaser
Shit/never used

- Codespeak Manual
Obvious valid, should just use Syndicate Encryption Key for collaboration costs the same and is less detectable.

- His Grace
People hate it but it's job locked so meh.

- Syndicate Briefcase Full of Cash
Wish this was used more, but it isn't and never will be, so it's just bloat

Nabski wrote: The Suppressor? - I feel like I should look for the how often is this purchased stat, but it seems bad since it makes it into a larger item after.
The suppressor is underrated. I buy it a lot and the the sounds difference + no messages on fire is good. It could just be made into a suppressed pistol item though.

it's an air powered esword, better if you can get them to hit walls but worse in other cases, eeeeeh

fix it then this is okay

yeah no bueno
- Pizza Bomb
Dumb gimmick/never used
i saw it used yesterday it's hilarious when it actually fucking happens, should probably limit it to the chef though to be safe
- Universal Suppressor
Maybe turn into suppressed 10mm gun?
keep it for tacticool nerds
- Dehydrated Space Carp
Never used/shit
yep its shit
- Syndicate Surgery Duffelbag

it should come with a syndicate shell
- Artificial Intelligence Detector

keep it

remove it

You might dislike the idea, but almost everybody in this thread agrees with the basic idea that some items should be removed, and there's a loose consensus on which ones they are even.

I've gone through the Traitor item list and here's a quick list of the bare few items I think could be removed and have little impact overall on Traitor gameplay.
  • Powerfist - Critically underused, essentially a worse version of a Energy Sword.
  • Martial Arts Scroll - I personally dislike this item since its a hard counter to any ranged attack, could be kept in but I think it toes the line between useful and murderboning aid tool
  • Poison Kit - How to instantly kill anyone within one second. Enough poison to kill anyone instantly with no need for outside help or at least risk. There's a difference between shooting someone which is loud versus stabbing them with a insta-death cocktail.
  • Pizza Bomb - Almost useless, at best a Chef only item.
  • Stimpack - Useless.
  • Fake Nuke Disk - Either needs a utter rework to make it viable, or just gut it as its a waste of space.
  • Power Beacon - Best either removed or made a Engineering traitor item only. Most of the time you won't get a Sing or Tesla to use this with unless you expend a lot of effort to sabotage the SM Engine in the correct way.
  • Radioactive Microlaser - Never seen it used, and from what I can tell its pretty bad as a weapon.
  • His Grace - See above posts as to why this is bad.

It's more that it's buggy and it does not fit in with the themes of the other items (tacticool spying, etc). If we ever do traitor factions it might fit with the Animal Rights Consortium

Energy Dagger is a nice item, its a more stealthy item that is very unlikely to be detected through a search.

My suggestions were more to prune fluff, useless, pure murderboning or inconsistent items.

dont remove anything add more stuff instead, seriously just because something isint used often isint grounds for it to be removed, gimmick items are fun.

Weapons for murderbone also need to exist considering it's part of the game and literally part of the TRAITOR objectives - escape the shuttle alive alone. Things being a "worse esword" like power fist simply adds variety to the game. I literally dont see why people think martial arts scroll and power fist needs to be removed (or even his grace) considering they have pretty easy counters and they are worse than the top murderbone weapon which is the double esword. So why remove them? They are fun to use when a traitor wants to mix things up.

Players will always use the best option, unless there is a very good reason not to. Many of the items mentioned do not have a good enough reason to use them. Using the power first as an example, the only difference from the Esword is pushing people away and doing a little less damage, both of which are a negative. Neither of those differences are a good enough reason to use the power first over the esword. It doesn't create any new situations, it's just a different item to hit someone with.

So if they arent a balance issue, if they arent overpowered and dont cause problems, why the fuck do they need to be removed? Seriously, just because Y weapon is better than X in most cases doesnt mean X needs to be removed. The powerfist has several advantages over the esword, and pushing people away isint useless, you can push people into disposal pipes, walls, space, electrified doors and grilles. All items have a niche use and are fun whenever they get used. Sure, most traitors opt for the standart shit, but when someone buys something unusual, IT BECOMES MORE INTERESTING.

>players will always use the "best option"

So why are we arguing for powergaming and play2win now? Seriously? Gimmick items should be removed because they arent as good as the normal gear? I know people do use these items, including myself. Many of these items have been attacked for being useless and that they should be removed in this thread by many people. Literally why? The reason traitor is so fun and is the best gamemode is because while most gamemodes have 1 or 2-3 playstyles traitor has so many, because there are so many items and SO many ways to play traitor. And now people want to gut it...

Thank god there is a feature freeze ongoing right now so hopefully this garbage shit idea gets forgotten and thrown in the trash bin.

Well, sorry but if you are unable to navigate the menu you have other problems, because the menu itself is quite simple and i am able to navigate it very well. I just gave an idea of how to use the power fist for interesting purposes, the fact that you dont want to pull it off doesnt mean other people should be prevented from using this item. Infact next time im traitor im going to use the power fist to push people into disposal pipes just to prove you wrong specifically.

The traitor uplink is poorly organized and difficult to find items quickly. This is an indisputable fact. Just because you have used it enough to get used to it does not mean it is well designed or easy to use. This is a common misconception of UX design.

If your only reason to use an item is to prove that someone uses it, then that's a clear indicator the item is not a good traitor item. You should be using to powerfist because it's a fun and interesting item, not because a feedback thread reminded you it existed.

Why dont we add a search feature to the uplink instead? Or buff the powerfist? Not all traitor items have to be good. Some are ok with being mediocre. You arent familiar with good game design arent you? There will always be a top choice in the meta for powergamers no matter what. I really dont why variety needs to be removed from the game.

Nothing deserves removal under the pretense of it being unused. Everything in it has some use or niche it can fulfill. However, there are things that should be removed for OTHER reasons though, like the aforementioned syndie bombs.

We should remove the all around better items instead, gimmick items or tools with more specific uses fit the idea of a custom toolkit much better.

Using the power first as an example, the only difference from the Esword is pushing people away and doing a little less damage, both of which are a negative. Neither of those differences are a good enough reason to use the power first over the esword. It doesn't create any new situations, it's just a different item to hit someone with.
Powerfist can reliably 1 hit stun people. Like seriously, the thing is fucking OP if used correctly, if anything.
And on top of insta stun/2-3 hit crit, the sprite isn't very obvious like the e-sword, and it's seen so little most people don't even KNOW what the sprite is.

I was in the 'powerfist is shit' boat too, until I saw some cheeky fisterman utterly rape me as a fully geared captain and then run around falcon punching people in the nuts.
