Help I just got crit by a traitor in Medbay Maint!

Post by Oldman Robustin » #331703

So uh, crit got changed. Now you can whine on radio even after taking 100 damage.

I like making the thresholds softer but this feature needs some work.

- Vision should drop while in "Crit lite", think "welding mask" level of vision

- You should only be able to whisper in "crit lite", whispering will either not be picked up on radio or it will be mostly unintelligible (like when you hear a whisper from a few tiles away)

- People should be able to identify who is in "crit lite" upon examination "Jack Meoff's breathing is shallow and labored" or some shit like that.

You aren't supposed to be able to use the radio, just whisper. Pretty sure it's just buggy right now.

Your vision is supposed to get the blind overlay too.

Even if you fix the headset bug this could be done with a station bounced radio with the mic on, easy peasy.

Also is it me or do you actually move faster in soft crit as opposed to having 99 damage?

My last ban was a half-day ban for critting a clown who instantly succumbed when I tried bringing him to medbay. I just stop playing from time to time.

It's hard to tell what's a bug though, given that this change was being proposed like 3 months ago - it's kind of funny that nothing about it works when it finally gets implemented.

Is speaking in soft crit that bad? Goon has it.

of course they also have lossbreath removing speech, so it isnt crit that causes silence, it is the lossbreath oxy damage that does it, so you end up with a short period where you can scream into the mic as you lay dying before you bleed out enough to silence you.

moving silencing from crit to lossbreath would also better simulate airless environments, as you cant really talk without air to speak with.

There should really be a visual indication that someone is in soft crit instead of hard crit.

Someone laying sideways suddenly moving away from you also looks very unnatural.

We got a new softcrit system now, so yelling about it on radio is no longer an issue.

But I agree that there should be a better way to tell when someone is in hard crit.

I feel the softcrit implementation has been somewhat of a let down.

It's mostly still the movement looks completely unnatural.

Also xenos also go into soft crit and it looks ridiculous when they move over the floor.

Latter is a bug I believe.

I think letting people move in softcrit was a mistake, not because I think its a bad concept but simply because of the huge number of issues it can cause.

There also still needs to be a way to easily identify when someone is in softcrit v. knocked down. I push people into hard crit simply because I don't want to take the chance of them getting up. A visual would be even better.
