Yes, make sure that the lings, despite being, you know, hivemind creatures, have incentive and ability to easily murder other lings.
Why not just make it double agents but lings and remove hivemind at this point?

Lings are not a team antag so there's no issue with them killing each other

Lings are not, and have never been, a team antag. Consider being more careful who you trust next time.
