Nuke Op Weapon Values

Post by WJohnston » #479517

As a nuclear operative, have you ever wondered how good your weapon is relative to others? How much damage output you're really buying with your telecrystals? If it's really even worth it to buy another magazine, or even what bundles you should consider relative to others? Don't worry about that last one, this list won't help you there.

But for everything else, this should give you some great insight! It's also very interesting to see how weapons are balanced relative to eachother from this point of view, which I don't think has been heavily considered before.
Spoiler:
(Magazines x Bullets x Damage) / TC Cost = Tele Crystal Value (TCV)
Point Blank will be referred to as (PB) as buckshot damage drops off dramatically at range. This list assumes that every shot is optimal for all weapons, getting the most possible value out of them without ever missing.

NOTE THAT TCV IS NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF ACTUAL COMBAT EFFECTIVENESS, ONLY THE RATIO OF DAMAGE POTENTIAL PER TC SPENT!*
*A higher TCV means higher efficiency of (potential) damage output for telecrystals spent.

Stetchkin 10mm Pistol:

JUST THE WEAPON, (8x30)/7 = 34.29 TCV (You start with one anyway as a nuke op)
standard mag, (8x30)/1 = 240 TCV
armor piercing, (8x27)/2 = 108 TCV
hollow point, (8x40)/3 = 80 TCV
incendiary, (8x15)/2 = 60 TCV (Immediate extinguish) (8x~104)/2 = ~416 (One shot, untreated)

84mm Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher

JUST THE WEAPON, (1x105)/8 = 13.125 TCV (Low end) (1x124)/8 = 15.5 TCV (High end)
84mm HE Rocket, (1x105)/4 = 26.25 TCV (Low end) (1x124)/4 = 31 TCV (High end)
84mm HEDP Rocket, (1x~296.3)/6 = 49.38 TCV (Expect 45 to 55 TCV)

HEDP Damage varies heavily! It is consistently an instakill, however.
218+104 322
210+100 310
233.3+94.2 327.5
139+120.5 259.5
135+120 255
214.1+89.9 304

Average of ~296.3

Bulldog 12g Shotgun

JUST THE WEAPON, (8x75)/8 = 75 TCV (PB)
12g Buckshot, (8x75)/2 = 300 TCV (PB)
12g Dragon's Breath, (8x20)/2 = 80 TCV (PB, Insta Extinguish) (8x200)/2 = 800 TCV (PB, untreated)
12g Meteorslug, (8x20)/2 = 80 TCV
12g Slug, (8x60)/3 = 160 TCV
12g Stunslug, (8x5)/2 = 20 TCV (Stuns are very powerful, this only measures raw damage which is not their purpose)
12g Dufflebag, ((6x8x75)+(1x8x5)+(1x8x60)+(1x8x20))/12 = 356 TCV (PB, Insta Extinguish) ((4120)+(1x8x200))/12 = 476.67 TCV (PB, untreated)
^Purchased Individually,(4280)/19 = 225.26 TCV (PB, Insta Extinguish) ((4120)+(1600))/19 = 301.05 TCV (PB, untreated)
Bulldog Bundle, ((2x8x75)+(8x5))/13 = 95.38 TCV (Buying individually would cost 103.3 without thermals, 77.5 with thermals)
Bulldog + 11 Magazines, (12x8x75)/30 = 240 TCV (PB)
Bulldog + Duffle + 5 Mag((4280)+(6x8x75))/30 = 262.67 TCV (PB, Insta Extinguish) ((4120)+(1600)+(6x8x75))/30 = 310.67 TCV (PB, untreated)

C-20r Submachine Gun

JUST THE WEAPON, (24x30)/10 = 72 TCV
.45 SMG Magazine, (24x30)/3 = 240 TCV
.45 Ammo Duffelbag, (9x24x30)/20 = 324 TCV
C-20r Bundle, (3x24x30)/14 = 154 TCV (Buying individually would cost 135 without suppressor, 113 with suppressor)
C-20r + Ammo Dufflebag, (10x24x30)/30 = 240 TCV

L6 SAW

JUST THE WEAPON, (50x45)/18 = 125 TCV
7.12x82mm Magazine, (50x45)/6 = 375 TCV
7.12x82mm AP Magazine, (50x40)/9 = 222 TCV
7.12x82mm HP Magazine, (50x60)/6 = 500 TCV
7.12x82mm Incendiary, (50x20)/6 = 166.7 TCV (Insta Extinguish) (50x200)/6 = 1666.7 TCV (untreated)
L6 + 2 Mags, (3x50x45)/30 = 225 TCV
L6 + 2 HP Mags, ((50x45)+(2x50x60))/30 = 275 TCV

M-90gl Carbine

JUST THE WEAPON, (30x35)/18 = 58.33 TCV (No grenade) ((30x35)+(124.2)/18 = 65.23 TCV (With grenade)
5.56 Magazine, (30x35)/4 = 262.5 TCV
40mm Grenade, (1x124.2)/2 = 62.1 TCV
Weapon + 3 magazines ((4x30x35)+(124.2))/30 = 144.14 TCV

Grenade Damage
(154+140+104+94+120+135+135+90+135+135)/10
AVG of 124.2

.357 Revolver

JUST THE WEAPON, (7x60)/13 = 32.31 TCV (Roughly comparable to the stetchkin)
.357 Speedloader, (7x60)/4 = 105 TCV (Significantly worse than 10mm in value, but a clear example for combat effectiveness. You trade TC efficiency for much faster kill times which is worth considering!)

Sniper Rifle

JUST THE WEAPON, (6x70)/16 = 26.25 TCV
.50 Magazine, (6x70)/4 = 105 TCV
.50 Penetrator, (6x60)/5 = 72 TCV
.50 Soporific, (3x0)/6 = N/A TCV (Not sure why you'd use this for the instant knockout. Standard sniper rifle rounds have a super powerful knockdown)
Sniper Bundle, ((6x70)+(2x3x0))/20 = 21 TCV (Contains two soporific mags and those have their own value)
^Bought individually, ((6x70)+(2x3x0))/31 = 13.55 TCV (Why would you ever do this?)

Surplus Rifle

JUST THE WEAPON, (5x60)/2 = 150 TCV (The highest TCV out of any gun, but obviously not an actually combat effective weapon)
Surplus Rifle Clip, (5x60)/1 = 300 TCV

I think it should be fairly clear from this that the L6 saw is pretty obscenely good, as everyone should obviously know by now. The bulldog and c20r are shockingly close contenders, and the m90gl is a bit of a disappointment compared to the other guns, but has very respectable magazines. A price increase of the l6 could perhaps help the m90 see more use.
Apparently I was an director or something.

Suspicious deck of cards

52 card * 10 damage each / 1 tc = 520 TCV

Super interesting post btw, not sure why people don't talk about how crazy the SAW with AP is.

prolly cuz people prefer gimmicks or melee, eswords don’t need to reload and cqc is cqc, meteor shot can blow down doors and stun, and while the saw is 18 tc(far cheaper than I recall, wasn’t it once like 60?), running up to the cap with a stimpack and detonating a syndiebomb you drag is priceless.

people talked about how crazy the SAW with AP ammo is for months, there's an entire thread in this very forum about how it's OP.

that being said I think this is a weak approach to analyzing nuke op gear because you're only considering damage when there are a lot of other factors that matter, like how portable the gun is and if it has projectiles that stun, just to give two examples. an m90 with an eshield is a very, very formidable opponent, in some ways that even the SAW can't be useful. the SAW has to make up for its' two handedness by spamming it out of view range, but it's also somewhat inaccurate.
