Pirates Cargo Pad.

Post by Shadowflame909 » #491894

If you wanna know if this is Im Dead. Yes, it is. But I think this is a really lame I'm Dead, that shouldn't happen. Otherwise I wouldn't be trying to incite a thread over this.

>We kill pirates.

>Person presses the cargo pad im standing on.

>Never see it used, so dont think much of it.

>IT LITERALLY DELETES ME AND ALL THE GEAR I'VE BEEN WORKING FOR THE ENTIRE ROUND

That is the worst feeling, all your effort gone without a satisfying conclusion. Just DELETED.

Why do the pirates even have an objective to literally DELETE crew.

The farthest we should go is gibbing. Deleting people is literally saved for an admin only antag, that's there to remove adolf hitler. An antag that got removed from rotation because deleting is unfun, and does not make for good gameplay.

Another antagonist has a hostage button. But instead of deleting crew, it sends them to the space ninja den.

Would you be down for this Delete button actually turning into a real transfer button, that doesn't delete people?

At least it's better than being instant deleted.

Also if you were an antagonist, it automatically checks off "Escaping alive" so it's not bad at all.

Also to address the rest of rocks argument

>Chasms.

Lavaland only. In exchange for all those rewards, one of the risks is deletion. I think it's fair when more then a handful of the items on Lavaland will literally grant antag status.

>Xenomorphs.

A round-ender on the same level as the singularity. They're meant to be better than everything.

Also, it has another feature, to vent-crawl with your target.

I also think canonically, since Xenomorphs are supposed to be the most superior genetic predator. Then them having gibbers for stomachs, would, in fact, make them a sentient weakness to Lings.

I think getting bones by space pirates is also a round ender

Why am I arguing with shadowflame he’s just like me he’ll do anything under the sun to avoid losing the argument even if he contradicts himself in the process

seems more like an coding oversight than an actual mechanic. I mean the cargo shuttle doesnt allow organics on it, why should a pirate cargo pad? It is supposed to send things to the pirate's base, not murder them.

Its really the first time I've heard of a body being deleted by the pad anyway. The normal function is you put a corpse on it and it rips all of the sellable loot off the body.

Yeah ok. Agree to disagree. My bias comes from the fact that I think the space net is the best tool in the Ninja's set, and I also think deletion with no tell tale signs is horrible as an objective.

Apparently when I asked about it Dr. Bee. The people they take as hostages (Delete) gets added to the pirates round end total.

They get a delete button and are encouraged to use it.

I didn't get killed by a pirate. I got deleted accidentally because no one knew pirates have a delete pad.

The "hostage" objective is nearly the same as the space Ninja's. Except you actually get sent somewhere

pirate pad only deletes people if they're alive.

to get permakilled while alive you either need to 1) be as dumb as shadowflame or 2) be subdued by pirates and good as dead anyways, at which point they can behead you and space the brain or whatever.

I'm going to suggest maybe a lore-related reason for teleporting people to the ninja den instead of just deleting them? Maybe not the best reason but better than nothing.

The purpose of the pirate pad working on live people is that the pirates, a faction of independents making money through theft and kidnap, are kidnapping crewmen and ransoming them back to their respective employers. That being the case, the people kidnapped would be kept alive until such time as the random is paid, yes?

An antagonist with a "escape on the shuttle" objective would obviously fail if they were imprisoned in pirate jail, but for example a wizard or survivalist, anyone with a "survive until the end" objective ought to still get their green, since they are in fact alive, but imprisoned.

Also and this is more just a meme, but pirates and ninjas! They're already two of the most awesome historical archetypes, may as well share a prison.
