Bottom post of the previous page:

So... what exactly prevents anyone from making donks behave like all other food? This always seemed like the obvious thing to me.

Option 3: Leave it the fuck alone, taking zero time and also not pissing everyone off.

I.E - put [food\donkpocket_cold] in microwave, get [food\donkpocket_hot] back

This is more or less exactly the same way Ramen cups work.
Out of the vendors you get a cup with reagent [ramen], add water and a reagent_reaction turns the [ramen] into [hot_ramen]
IIRC theres no BS cooling system attached with that.

Of course the bottom line of the problem is that upgraded microwaves break the first law of alchemy :)

Would it really take a week to remove warm donk pockets and add 5 units of tricord to normal ones? i doubt it. But im no coder.

you know recipe code is the same shit over and over with the paths changed right
it would take less than 2 minutes
its actually different for hot pockets tho, since those have weird stuff with cooling down and stuff while other stuff just has ingredients deleted and become a finished product
yes thats what im saying.
make it like all the other recipes.
and i'm not doing it myself because i don't have git installed right now.

It also doesn't help that "Because I am lazy" generally means that you shouldn't have responsibility, not that you should be allowed to get away with being lazy. I find the arguments about snowflake healing status to be much more persuasive, as well as the idea of just adding more medical supplies.

The fix is really minor though. If someone fixed it, would it be possible to add the tricord back? It wouldn't really hurt any game balance as it is a lot less efficient to make a ton of donk pockets than it is to make a lot of doctor's delight.

DD is a huge pain in the ass to make most of the time (without harvesting syndiecakes), tricord takes a chemist (or knowing MD) about 3 seconds to make with two bottles and a beaker. Treating tricord like some sort of mystical elixir is really silly.

Even DD isn't that hard to get, you just need barkeep to part with the required bottles of juice, and between those and the infinite tricord you can make as a chemist in seconds, you can get literally 500 units of DD from 20 seconds of talking with barkeep.

Hell, as chemist, I am in the habit of pumping that out and making DD smoke grenades, putting it in the cryo tubes, AND having a huge pile of pills left over.

Letting miners have access to 5 tricord donk pockets is not the end of the world, and coders DELETING DP because of it is completely retarded. But that is the coderbus for you.

I was more talking about old DD which required only juices, which was removed because it was a better source of healing than doctors.

Yea there are two kinds of Doctor Delight. The drink which is called "The Doctors Delight" and the chemical "Doctors Delight" which is found in some food and the CMOs Hypospray. I imagine you could combine the two along with tricord to make some kind of super fast healing pill, if all 3 healing effects stack.

The drink and tricord both stack, I didn't even know that there was a seperate chemical.

Those should be the same reagent. If not that's an oversight since they do literally the same thing and are made the same way.

Just remove the tricord since it apparently won't dupe reagents that already spawn in them?

Or you could remove the snowflake cooling down mechanic and keep the tricord.

make them like cold/hot ramen

microwave + cold donk = hot donk, which has tricord
super hella microwave + cold donk = many hot donk, each of which has tricord

don't bother with the cooling down thing, muh immersions are ruined less by unheatable donkpockets than they are by eternal warmth

This shit right here. I don't understand why this couldn't have been done from the get-go instead of rushing to remove more content.

What else do you want us to say? There have already been plenty of suggestions, but coders would rather focus on the insults and flaming than actually discussing the issue.

Was a subtle hint to keep things on track.

Re: Bullshit Removals and Coder Complaints.

It was as subtle as a hammer to the head.

Delete the offending inflamatory comments rather than threatening to censor another discussion because specific coders have figured out how to consistently get forum mods to lock threads for them by deliberately starting fights.

People contributing to a good discussion shouldn't be locked down because jerks are starting fights here.

I mean I agree the topic did not set a good tone but people, including coders, decided to treat this thread as an area for legitimate discussion. Threating to lock the thread isn't a subtle call to be on track, it makes people even more resentful and hostile because most of the insults flying are flying because people already feel locked out of the decision making process.

I actually have little to no communication with the coders, fun fact.

If we delete posts, we're censoring. If we lock a thread, we're censoring. Everyone needs to just learn to control themselves.

Enough with this coderbus conspiracy crap already.

He wasn't implying conspiracy, he was implying that coders purposely pick fights knowing that it'll get them locked.

I am glad I am not the only one who picked up on that. This really shouldn't be the place to bring this up but the last place anyone tried to talk about that got locked and deleted, and it has become more and more overt a problem.

I am all for trying to limit historonis. Please actually do that, and lock down the people who repeatedly do them, without locking down a discussion unrelated to these, for lack of a better word, tantrums. Consistently locking threads does not make the underlying problem go away, it makes it worse.

You know, wouldn't be that hard to leave donk pockets unnukable, but have tricord in them by default. Here, have some code.
Spoiler:
/obj/item/weapon/reagent_containers/food/snacks/donkpocket
name = "\improper Donk-pocket"
desc = "The food of choice for the seasoned traitor."
icon_state = "donkpocket"

/obj/item/weapon/reagent_containers/food/snacks/donkpocket/New()
..()
reagents.add_reagent("nutriment", 4)
reagents.add_reagent("tricordrazine", 5)
I ain't even a coder, took me longer to find donk pockets in the code than it did to do this. Problem fixed, no more duping reagents, mining has easy healing. Everyone's happy.

One has to ask, regarding the donk pockets

If it was so easy to change, why did we have to go through all the drama in the first place of having them removed and then re-added instead of just changing them in the first place

I believe someone did say it was easier to outright remove them than make the necessary balancing change, but, clearly, that was wrong?

Right, but more to the point, deleting something blatantly inflammatory is censoring pretty worthless and distracting information, where as locking the entire thread is censoring absolutely everyone because individuals could not handle the forum rules. It is pretty clear which is superior if you had to do any. While it does involve deleting a lot more the result is a lot more precise and is much better at keeping people on topic and mellow and a lot less of value is lost or suppressed.
