Nerf Disposals

Yeah, this thread. Fun times ahead.

Paging Dr. Papsmear, requesting a nerf

Buildable disposals need to be reworked or balanced, because it shouldn't be "set it and forget it" to build disposal -> space traps on the station. Make it so you have a way to leave a damn disposals trap before it automatically grabs you and fucks you, or make it so it needs to be connected to the disposal systems "magic" air supply rather than being able to generate its own infinitely.

Alternatively, make the disposal chute have to pressurize before it can launch again.

Also, it shouldn't be launching you with the speed of a fucking mass driver into wherever you're going, because you literally can't help yourself at that point, not even throwing anything will help, so you're better off to just succumb.

This would make traitor a lot more interesting if they can toss stuff into the trash and not worry about it going anywhere, particularly if no one ever checks the cans for bodies/bloody evidence/guns

My favorite part of disposals traps is making a wall of flying floor tilesCASTING BLADE BARRIER! Take 15D6 damage fools!

Seriously though, avoiding a disposals trap is as simple as not walking into it. Although if said trap had space lube in front of it, I can understand how there might be an issue, but honestly, if the traitor has put in that much time and effort, they should be rewarded for it. And disposals traps are hilarious.

Nerf also disposal outlets without/with power being nearly unnoticeably different.

Antag dunks you, turns off nearby disposal outlet, stuffs your body inside, say goodbye to anyone ever finding your body again.

Make "resist" stop you inside the pipe, clawing and pushing against it?

I remember one time, when four people got stuck in disposal pipe below atmos, somehow, and I had to dismantle it to get them out.

So what, you'd start to go backwards or be able to control movement inside the pipe?

no, youd just stop and resist out like when youre in a locker
i dont think thats a good idea since shitlers will just go through the pipes and purposefully resist out to break down the whole system
plus it makes escape via disposals too easy, you can just pop out in maint somewhere and never be found

Fuck no. For so many reasons.

1. Disposals traps take one weld and one wrench to remove entirely, whereas it takes multitudes that of very obvious, conspicuous work that is only really readily accessible to 2 jobs (atmos, CE). Also, one bomb most anywhere in maintenance, will destroy many disposal traps entirely.

2. They aren't unfair, you can see them coming from halfway across the screen unless you have a mile-long lube slide, and even then they've gone to the effort of getting chemistry ingredients AND did extraordinarily conspicuous work in public.

3. There's nothing about them that prevents telling others about them after or before falling victim to one.

For these reasons, if anything, they need a buff.

Yeah seriously, shit like this takes a lot of time and effort to do, and anyone that actually knows what they're doing will be able to see pretty easy that it's sus as shit.
Creative shit like this should be promoted, not nerfed into the ground. Sure, IF you run into it blindly after 20 minutes of setting up, and it's not damaged at all, it's ggnore. But guess what, stun'n'space is more ggnore and requires zero effort and time to pull off.
