Limb Grower, should it be round start?

With the reset changes to medbay, it has become much harder to get functioning organic organs/body parts. Now, I have seen a bit of an outcry recently of this recently as most of the time people would much rather prefer their organic counterparts to the prosthetic parts.

On top of this, I would like to open discussion for organs to be grown from the machine as well as a possible future upgrade.

its more fun to go find for "donors" than click machine and poof all my problems are solved . the limb grower is currently at "ai research biotech 1" , grab a bunch of parts from vendomat and print board away from roundstart i dont see how it needs more hugbox than this

You can also just use cyborg limbs which can be printed dirt cheap in robotics.

are you needing prosthetics or...?

we have cybernetic parts to the critical organs, is there one that's giving you trouble?

Why?

i need a better reason than "people are upset they can't easily get organics" when that's the point, if you don't want to risk losing out on "good" organs consider that in your decision tree.

I dont think organs should have been added to the limb grower at all, it makes them too cheap. Finding a donor or having to settle for cybernetics (which are upgrades if teched at all) would have been fine.

Thank you tlal, very cool.

catatonics, suicidees, monkeys, prisoners (whats the point of their exsistence), traitors and braindeads are an available option before murder

Having to make do with shitty prosthetics early-game is part of the whole tech tree progression. If you don't like that, tide the exofab from tech storage and print borg parts. If the patient wants an organic, then tell them to go find the missing limb. If you don't like that, then...

It is already too easy to get organs with the new round start cybernetics, a sad side effect is that upgraded cybernetic organs never get researched anymore.

Another tactic you can use is buying a few monkey cubes from botany.

Monkey cubes are their own issue, i would love to see them made hard to obtain to nerf the head swap tactic and easy organs.

give monkys their own organs which are like worse than normal, price of getting a heart from a chimp which was in the bar most of its life

Just what are you trying to say about Kat Green

Also can prosthetics of the non-borg variety be printed? I know there's a box of them but I'm never sure if they can be made manually

What if the limb grower were removed, so you need donors for everything?

Yeeeeaaah, not a fan. There's a reason it has to be researched and synthmeat is easy enough to make that this makes dismemberment pretty trivial.

And that reason is...?

Honestly, the surplus prosthetics should be available in the medical lathe, I don't approve of the limb grower as it means there's no consequence to being severely injured. Getting sub-par prosthetics because you *had* to test your luck against the clown with the e-sword should be a consideration. Would be funny if organ rejection was a thing but that'd probably be too mean.
