Wires shocking on contact

Yes this is another "I ded" thread. This isn't about nerfing or balancing as much as fixing an unintuitive and unfun bug.

Right now if you click on a wire in maintenance while holding anything (or nothing) and not wearing insulated gloves... you will be shocked and take massive burn damage.

This has gotten me killed 3 times this week.

The wires are insulated, the box I'm carrying does not conduct electricity... so why the does bopping a wire with a box act like I shoved 2 live wires into my eye sockets. Fighting in maintenance isn't really uncommon and I just feel really fucking stupid when I'm engaging in "BYOND combat" spam clicking someone else and suddenly you're dead because you punched a piece of plastic containing a live current.

I don't see any positive benefit to wires continuing to function like this.

It's a little silly, I have to agree. But I think this has to do with ninja absorbing energy from wires maybe.

The Ninja can only draw power from wires with "Special Interaction" on, and many other items can be drawn from that don't shock you on touch. I think the wires do need to NOT shock you if you touch them, if you try and remove it without insulated gloves then fine.

and take massive burn damage.
Damage dealt is dependent on the amount of energy in the powernet. Yell at engineering for maxing out their output. Same thing with shocked doors.

There is a limit though, because getting shocked by things hurts your limbs, which have a damage cap of 75.

Shouldn't this only happen with wirecutters? I mean damn it isn't like these items can CUT THE WIRES.

Wirecutters have insulated rubber grips for cutting cables. It doesn't work with doors/apcs/machines though because the machines actually spit electricity out when you cut the wrong wires and can shock your hands. Don't ask, it's for balance.

This is NT quality we are talking about, our grips are just iron painted a different colour. Iron age of the future!

Only NT. Seriously.

Same with the wires. No insulation, except a thin film of it on the floor.

Hell with the mining underwhelm we don't even smelt STEEL anymore! You could turn the station into a hill fort and no one would notice the difference, well the captain might like his new crown.

They're insulated. They shouldn't hurt you unless you cut or pulse them.
