I'm the guy who refactored hunger and I didn't realise it was off, lol. I noticed that it was slower than usual but had no clue it wasn't working at all.
The main reason is that hunger is indeed pretty slow. When the refactor was introduced I had to nerf it big because of all the people complaining it would ruin their round. So what we've had ever since is a watered down hunger system.

I'll just go and say it, tgs resistance to any kind of chef/hunger changes (for ages now) is one of the reasons I play elsewhere too now. The kitchen is shit here. Has been shit. Still is shit. I go to GOON to have a fun chef. Think about that. Where, stamina is a bad mechanic and hunger doesn't do shit. And guess what? Bar has visitors nonetheless (and is appropriately bombed but thats something hilariously else). I seriously don't know what the hell is up some peoples ass about having to take two bites of a burger or something in 30-50 minutes into a round here.

It was an interesting mechanic, meaning people from cloning/cryo often had to chow down afterward, which... made sense to me. Which is also good because then you can feed someone a burger of their former body, thanks to the lack of cloning memory shit.
