While no one likes newcult for extremely obvious reasons 'old cult' is a really broad term considering how radically it was changes, more than once.

For the purposes of this poll, I'm concerned with the general concepts behind each. If you have to nail it down I would say the iteration immediately before it was removed.

"oldcult" is the thing we had right after xhuis did some tweaks and before what we have now came in
note that while not perfect, it was, IMO, worlds better than what we now have

"newcult" is what we now have

i honestly don't believe that it's salvageable without essentially making it a completely different mode, at which point it's less "salvaging" and more "replacing"
nuke ops does everything newcult does gameplay-wise but better
oldcult does everything newcult does theme-wise (and fun-wise) but better

I would improve it by reverting it to the oldcult. I'm one of the few people who enjoy playing newcult, I enjoy playing it, but oldcult is simply more enjoyable. Conversion rune, stun paper, 10000 people needed to summon Nar-Nar are all much more fun than "sac a few people, summon shell".

Kor. Why remove conversation from cult though....when it was one of the two original ones, and one which was actually fun. Well, it did get less fun though and people kept changing cult and doing overhauls with no general direction.

It's not fun anymore. Not at all.

I would rather see the mode finally given up on honestly. It has been hated for 5 years now.

Calling oldcult a "conversion" mode in the same vein as rev or gang is extremely disingenuous. Those two modes require conversion, cults can sacrifice too or choose to stay small and discreet. Even if it is a conversion antag, why the fuck is that a bad thing? Re-add oldcult, restore research, remove stunpaper. I'd be cool with the shell defense mechanic being added as an endgame in oldcult if it's tweaked to be more flavorful (no delta message, tons of supernatural shit happens the closer you to to the shell such as hallucinations and EMPs).

Non-universal runes is only one of many issues that newcult has. I don't think the mode is salvagable, at least as a replacement for oldcult.

Neither are good if I'm honest. Cult really just needs to be removed pending a full rework of the core gameplay. It was never "good" after it was abandoned during development.

Personally I don't think Oldcult was great.

But its a hell of a lot better than Newcult, say what you will about the older iteration of cult but at least they worked as a game mode and they gave both factions a reasonable chance of success without giving either faction a undetectable, undodgeable, insanly long duration and free stun.

Literally, yes. Whining about something constantly until it's changed is the only way to do anything here. I was the guy who screamed about bombing the blob so much that someone removed it, and I was also one of the guys who screamed about stun paper until it got removed. It gives results.

It is perfectly fucking fixable. You just don't want it to be fixed now because you don't want to admit that your version of cult is terribly unpopular. Most of the gripes with oldcult can be fixed without gutting the mode. The poll is proof of that. Your solution is just garbage.

Eh, I think that conversion was fine in cult. In fact, cult was the best conversion mode in my opinion. Unlike rev and gang where it's instantaneous, you actually have to abduct somebody, drag them to a remote area, and convert them with 3 cultists all while keeping them from screaming over radio
