Detective shouldn't have sec headsets or brig access

Post by Zilenan91 » #162879

Causes detectives to validhunt, would move them away from that into a more investigative role.

"Loose cannon detectives who don't follow the rules in pursuit of JUSTICE would be awesome!"
"Wow wtf why is the detective arresting people and going after antags what is this shit"
P.S. Shoot Dr. Allen on sight and dissolve his body in acid. Don't burn it.

They always follow the rules if they're in direct communication with security though

Would be more flavorful if he didn't have a sec headset

Take away his rubber bullets and replace with .357. For self defense only, not to catch grey tide.

Detective should be given an instagib rifle at roundstart so he can more efficiently quell the tide yes

I assume you were being sarcastic...

Without sec comms he wouldn't know the things that security does, so he'd either steal a sec headset, which would fall off shortly after the pr gets merged, or do all the investigating himself in his office, using his powers of vigilantism to bring the criminal to justice like nobody else could.

Without Sec comms, they wouldn't know if a case needs solving. It's not like Security's going to communicate with them.

Det at least needs his gun because crime scenes? The criminal can waltz right back in and try to kill him.

How about if we just return the Detective to "that one investigator that works with Security"? Detectives as in police detectives.

Removing detective's brig access makes him unable to get to his office in metastation
Arthur Thomson says, "Since there are no admins I would loging with another account and kill you"
Caleb Robinson laughs.

Just split the Setective job into a Security Detective and a Civilian Private Investigator.

The Detective remains as is but cannot be a antag. The PI gets a different colour uniform, can be a antag and gets a Donksoft Revolver.

Let's you play out your inane loose gun fantasy while NOT getting rid of a important sec roll.

It used to be written on the wiki that the detective was not a part of the security hierarchy and never actually answered to the HoS. The Detective was said to be a private inspector working directly under the Captain, as he's also expected to act as a watchdog against security.

It never actually worked that way in game back then, but I always liked the idea.

Boo, people should do the right thing and get rid of this antagsec-lite monstrosity that got added for the luls.

Things were pretty fine the way they were, all this antag-Det does is just make sec harder. I blame Kor for merging it.
