Ain't easy mining with no fucking gear. Until you let us smash rock and collect ore with our bare hands anyone getting swapped to miner is getting screwed over.

There are three extra lockers at mining with the essentials.

I'm an ex-coder for /tg/. I made the original versions of clockcult, shadowlings, revenants, His Grace, and other stuff.
I don't play, code, or participate in the community, but I occasionally post dumb stuff in the hut.

Actually pick axes are useful, dig a 1x1 channel, then switch to the off hand and just move forward then press side to side quick and you can chew out a 3 across tunnel really fast with them.

take the mining tool into your offhand and walk into the rock, it will start the mining.

3 extra lockers in the back of outpost. (6slots essentially).
No clothing needed* whatsoever.
No vouchers from hop.
Pickaxes are beast mining tools.
Ka's are* for combat strictly pretty much.
I enjoy meme'ing Kor's precious 'tough' bosses and just laughing and facetanking them all besides bubblegum. Fuck him.

Honestly Kor I think you're kinda missing the point. The reason people like mining is because of the gradual gain in power they gain over the course of a round. Without a suit a great amount of that power, and that enjoyment, is missing.

The main problem is access to lavaland itself being the shuttle and the airlocks in the way. What I think should be done is remove the shuttle and use the gateway instead, just redesign the shuttle landing spot into a gateway room. Make the doors leading out to lavaland all access, but keep part of the mining outpost locked to the mining ID so miners can still manage to do shit without asshats getting involved.

My problem with making mining more accessible is that it'd encourage more people to just fuck off to mining leaving the station pretty empty. It'd be like with gateways where you'd have pretty much the entire crew storm through it hoping to score syndie gear and what'd you end up with was a shit ton of corpses rotting in the away mission with a few people who either didn't go on the away mission and maybe a couple who did and survived back on the station playing with their new toys. I'd imagine the same would happen with lavalands because let's face it, everyone wants the fun toys on Lavalands.

Lavaland isn't usually deadly enough to wipe a station a tourist with just internals could get around a fair bit behind the miners without dying.

The problem is if you have a ton of people in lavaland, then suddenly all the difficulty of lavaland is gone. Also, instead of being a sideshow it becomes basically a main focus, with another ten or so people effectively out of the round. Then you have to compete with everyone for loot.

The rounds where they sent a shuttle filled with people to lavaland were awful.
