It's stupid. And I hate it.

It serves no purpose other than to fuck you over. It prevents you from helping others too.

Here's a quest for you.

You want to set up singularity, but you also want to minimize any sparking, so you want to remove all tesla hardware and move it inside. Good luck.

Wrench all the tesla stuff down? Does that not work?

EDIT: or put down tiles, pop a can and make it safe to walk out in engine containment and then just walk out with them, doesn't take any longer than 2-3 minutes if you work fast.

Okay, take 3 minutes to pop down some tiles, open a cannister to equalise pressure and then take them out that way.

You're missing the point of the quest. And the point is that space wind is too strong.

No I get the point, space wind yanks shit and that's annoying, but my point is that there are workarounds to stop that from being such a big issue.

They're all boring though. You shouldn't have to fill up singulo containment with air and tiles every round to set up the engine. It's just really shitty and not fun.

also true, however IIRC Kor said that the reason that space wind has become like this is because he fixed the way in which atmos works on the lavaland; so the change was a performance thing rather than them messing directly with how much is pushes you back and how often? That sounds (no coding experience at all) hard to fix.

That's what I said. MSO stopped all of lavaland from processing atmos and slowing it down. This resulted in atmos being over twice as fast as before.

That's hilarious. Are you saying Lavaland ruined another thing on station for everyone else?

Is now the time to start building proper airlocks? All of the ones designed for EVA (ie: not shuttle docks) are just Door <-> Tile <-> Door and literally no way to handle cycling/repressurizing.

Yeah you cannot arbitrarily decide what the term means.

If we go around removing danger and padding all the corners that is as much a H U G B O X as anything else

I don't think the idea of atmos draining quickly is bad, don't want a Hugbox. But space wind is just a pain in the ass because you'll spend 5 minutes trying to move 3 tiles. Maybe it should be faster, and not give the illusion of hope. I seem to recall the last time I was on Paradise or some other server if you exposed a room to vacuum, you got sucked through very fast and it knocked you down. Air was gone in a matter of seconds. You didn't have to spend minutes walking against space wind aimlessly, you were just sucked out immediately. We should go that direction.

I guess I agree to a point. I don't have problems with air itself. You should get punished for carelessly leaving airlocks open, and atmos shouldn't get complacent without optimizing distro loop.

It's the wind I hate. Case and point: you want to close airlock behind you to not drain the room, but good luck clicking on open airlock itty bitty sprite while the cock sucking wind is blowing you out.

Here's a tip
Spam click exactly a tile beneath you/to the side of you/above you at the bottom/top/idgaf.

You'll close it.

I wonder if we could set airlocks to close faster if they detect a significant difference in pressure on both sides? I know cutting the timing wire makes them close faster.

I remember a fun round yesterday or so. Me versus an Artificer, me being one of the few station defenders left. His MM ends up hitting me. Oh, look, a tiny little breach into space. He barely drags me into it before I manage to get up. Guess what? I was barely pulled into said breach and still at full health. It was impossible for me to get back onto the station, due to fucking spacewind.
