What happened?
Why can't we hop into the trash, where we belong, to escape THE LAW?

Disposal binning away from security was a great feature and watching unrobust security lose people to disposal bins was one of the easiest ways to tell if someone was bad along with talking in all lower case.

I miss when it was a thing
I liked to imagine a handcuffed assistant doing a squat to pull the disposal handle down and tumbling backwards into the bin with a shit eating grin.

That was a thing?
Why was it removed, then?
Get onto the disposal handle, push off it, quickly get into disposal bin.

It was never that fluid, you would have to wait for the unit to auto-push you down, which required a lot of luck on your part and a lot of stupidity on the officers part.

tumbling ass over teakettle out a disposal bin while you're handcuffed should injure you, however

At least we don't have damage from riding in disposals like some servers, that shit is lame. First time I played on a server like that I tried to take the underground railroad away from the police and I came out in cargo as a shower of gore.

This was a problem when jumping in the trashcan was super fast, and there was no good way to actually stop it, Once I pressed eject and tried to baton someone immediately after to prevent them from escaping, microseconds after he got in, I clicked, putting my baton in the trash with him, and they both got flushed.
we met in maintenance, no sec maint at the time, so there was enough delay for him to actually get loose from the cuffs and enjoy his new baton, and he charged me, during the ensuing shoving match I got super lucky and he stunned himself, I tried to brig him, and some chuckle-cuck stole him and ran off, I shot both, and while I was cuffing his would be rescuer he skittered to another fucking trashcan in tool storage, and the only way to effectively stop him was to wrestle with the auto pump button and eject eject eject eject until I could table the motherfucker.
Point being, even with the trashcan not flushing him, just getting the little bastard out of the trashcan was bullshit.
but with the delay of "So-and-So climbs into the trashcan" this is all solved and fine. So if someone manages to climb into the trashcan while being pursued, and wait for it to decide to flush, they deserve to get away.

Long story short: it's fine as is unless you're a cuck and manage to flush your baton.

Doesn't Bay have lethal disposals?

As a sec player this is a bad change.
It robs you of that glorious moment where you beeline to cargo or hop down a different disposal chute yourself to pop out and baton the crap out of the escapee who is now valid for being an escapee.
Glorious.

Learn to read you dirty ligger this used to lead to unwinnable situations.
Back before this was fixed, you'd have to somehow open hand click the trashcan, click eject contents, swap back to the baton, and click the enemy, all before the escapee could s just click drag back into the trashcan in one simple move, three steps to one, the pursuer is doomed to fail without luck, and repeating the steps ups your odds of flushing your shit, which is why I started using tabling instead, but without a table by the trashcan you can't do that.
Hell, It used to be a fairly common tactic by a particular individual that reminded me of another incident along the same lines, this struggle can go on long enough that the trashcan can flush, recharge, and flush again if there isn't a third party to assist you, remember burer? He did that.
So no, not me being shitty, It's fine as is, it's a last ditch effort, and when you win it, you deserve to win it.

It happened more than a year ago, and this change was not intended. The problem lies in the fact that we use the do_mob() proc for many things, including stuffing mob in bins, and for most of these things it makes sense to prevent the action for handcuffed people so the proc was standardized by me to fail when handcuffed (
https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/ ... 6b689aR779), not knowing some places in the code used do_mob for actions that should be possible even while handcuffed. I did the same standardization for do_after() but this caused bugs (
https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/pull/8287) (because again do_after() instances are used inconsistently, some actions should work while cuffed while some shouldn't).
A fix to this would be to add a new argument to the do_mob() (and probably also for do_after()) to handle both situations (
https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/ ... bs.dm#L183)

It is a little silly to not be to do some actions you could do with your hands cuffed behind your back.

Cuffs are ridiculously good, being able to disposal yourself isn't the end of the world and a funny/clever sec officer can hop right in behind you.
Never really liked how cuffs/cables/zips stop you from doing anything to include defending yourself

There's nothing so glorious as when the assistant dives into the bin and instead of dumping him out sec dive in after him.

It does and it's fucking hilarious when some shitter that's used to harmless disposals tries to disposaldive to escape from sec after tiding and they just calmly say "medic to cargo bay" over the radio and let him get flushed
