I heard that bombs are pretty cool.

honestly i would like to see the AI moved back to the station. at the moment it's not super bad since it's not infallible but it's really stupid that you need a space suit just to participate in killing the AI

that was because the PR that moved it was only testmerged, then the guy who made it quit /tg/ for unrelated reasons before it was finished

Mostly because moving it on station buffed loyal AI and nerfed Traitor AI hard. Loyal AIs were much easier to repair and more likely to be spotted being broken into while traitor AIs were easier to break into since you didn't need any specialised equipment beyond wire cutters, screwdriver, crowbar and wrench. The AI core only had one r-wall of protection, on the secondary AI bases housing, and AI turrets are really easy to get around as long as you have an RPD/sheets of metal/smoke grenade/chameleon projector/anything that blocks projectiles. Plus EMPs are hilariously cheap nowadays and if you stand in the right spots when you EMP at the right times, you can kill the AI via power loss and it can only call for help via VOX without ever entering it's chamber.

Not that I'd be against putting the AI on the station, but you have to give a bit more protection, at least a space moat and making much harder to kill the AI EMPs alone without at least coordinating with someone. It's like getting a chloral hydrate OD through a wall that you can't really defend against, except tell your borgs (and if you don't have one you're buggered) to wire your core to the main grid and hope to outlast them or spend the rest of the round shunted and hope nobody is tracking your APCs.

If you want my opinion, the AI core should be along a lesser used part of the station so people are less likely to get spotted breaking in and keep the motion cameras to the AI's front entrance and internal core only. On the flipside, the AI should have good firing angles for it's turrets, good coverage with the slip defenses, a space moat (no visual on it by default if they're non-malf), an isolated powernet with two SMES' on opposite sides (to avoid the two EMP gg no re) and door shutters on the internal core itself. I'd say look to Asteroidstation for inspiration as it has an on board AI though I'd advise against using their internal chamber design since it's butt fuck ugly.

you can effortlessly kill the AI with like 5 metal or like 5 tc of gear though

it takes like a minute or two tops

you can use the tube btw you don't need a space suit

i think all the people that complain about how """""invincible"""""" the AI is have never played it and gotten GGnore'd with 100% success rate with a pitiful expenditure of resources by anyone with any knowledge of how to circumvent the defenses

the only way it's remotely defensible is if you have an army of cyborgs played by above average players, or if you have like 30 minutes to build up malf points and then manage to start a plasma flood and burn the whole station out before anyone suspects a thing

even then you often get killed by one or two vengeful assistants in easy to access spacesuits with a tiny amount of gear that blocks 100% of turret shots

i mean really, the AI has been getting easier to kill over time since i started playing (back when EVA was off-limits)

back then
-EVA off limits
-EMP far, far harder to access
-secborgs actually provide reasonably effective satellite defense
-less spacesuits generally
-turrets less circumventable
-like one RCD per station

now
-everyone and their mother knows how to get past turrets
-RCDs everywhere
-explosives powerful, extraordinarily cheap, blow through 3-strong R-walls in 20s tops
-EMP kit gives you 6 EMP grenades, enough to kill the AI through the wall, plus a multi-use undetectable ranged battery-draining essential permastun implant that allows you to one shot GGNORE any cyborg. ion rifle far better than it used to be
-every cyborg you have is vulnerable to a common, easy to procure instant death button (flash) no ranged option means one rambo with ion rifle can kill an army of borgs
-no ranged options
-EVA common access, spacesuits everywhere
-your lair is actually far away from security, meaning you will be dead five times before any of them arrive, if they ever do
-everytime singulo or tesla goes rogue, you die since you're right next to it and they're way more lethal than they used to be
-lings easily ventcrawl in and ggnore you in 30 seconds and you can't call for help or save yourself in any way
-emagging borgs is trivial and any engiborg walks into core and kills you in 15s. essentially impossible to defend against
-permanently spacing the AI is trivial so you'll never be revived, if anyone notices you are actually dead. this is not true of a central core as you'd have to have a card or walk through hallway etc
-lavaland miners holy shit, even if you kill the station there's still these fucking guys running around with horseshit demigod weapons waiting to leap out of the darkness of space and lava staff you / gibtonite you / KA you to death

i could go on

no complaints here i play AI for fun not to be god, just pointing out here that if your intention is to nerf AI putting it in the middle of the station is actually a buff because all of it's defenses are 100% pointless anyway. your only real defense is the captain & friends pulling your ass out of the fire and that means that being on the station somewhere is actually a good thing.

Pretty much, I hate playing AI because there's nowhere to run and you can't do jack shit. bolt a door, someone hacks it open, turrets, metal foam, turrets plus glass, decon the SMSES via the wall.

actually the AI was moved to the station but it was reverted by Cheri for "putting too many important things" close together.

there were concerns you could bomb every important station system at the same time IIRC

at least if you bomb the AI it won't knock out gravgen and bridge

The engine, grav gen, and telecomms were close together so one well placed bomb would cripple the station. Taking out the AI means crippling the bridge as well. It's just too much to have the AI on station now.

then put it somewhere else maybe with the SMESes so that you can have a non-traitor reason to go near it idk
