I made slugpeople

They have the same body colors as lizards, and are slightly transparent. They also have markings, which are only transparent in some parts, and have the same colors as lizards.
The markings and main body can both be different colors. Muh snowflake colors.
They have 2 antennae styles, up and down.
I don't know if they should have hair or not. If they did have hair, then the antenna would layer under the hair.

They'd probably be allergic to salt or something.

The order for the sprites is, from left to right: Male front, Male back, Male side, Female front, Female back, Female side. This is the same for the markings. The antennae aren't gendered.
They're 32x32 each, if they're too small then download them or something idk

Aight I had an idea

If the slugs leave a trail, maybe to stop it being absolutely horrendous, the sprite for a slime-covered tile would link up with adjacent ones, and only the edges of the slime pool would be visible, and the rest of the sprite is transparent. So if every single tile was covered, you'd only see slime borders at the walls.

edit: nevermind this idea is bad

trails would be pretty good, but they shouldnt leave trails if wearing shoes

Do they have a salt allergy/treat salt as poison. If they don't, they should.

I thought how funny it'd be if when they OD'd on a chem or had 50+u of something in their system it would seep out into their slime trail, making them somewhat more chem resistant as they'd 'metabolize' faster, shoes and boots would stop people from absorbing chems but laying in a tile of contact chems would make you absorb it. If the chem was flammable (booze), the slime trail would be too. Then you could have a game of load up the slugman and set him free before dropping a flare in the trail and see if he can outrun the fire.

What erked me about this idea was what if Slugmans were drinking excessive amounts of water (or spacelube) and just running about making slippy floors all over the place. Than I thought you could just inject them with salt or chlorine/sodium mix (which mixes with water into salt), or hell just shoot any slug man dumb enough to do this full of potassium and watch the fireworks. Still probably not work it since each and every slug would be a liability and beaten to death if they were seen dragging water tanks about.

Want to be the most efficient janitor slug ever, drink ammonia and water and shit out space cleaner. /s

If slugs left trails, it should probably be only if they're barefoot. Maybe give them a bonus for being barefoot, like shoes slow them down or something? Who know

I'd say maybe scratch slugpeople and make snailpeople, so that you can have a little more variation. They'd have a giant shell in their backpack slot that can't be removed except by surgery. The shell is where their brain is so if you removed the shell from a snailperson, it's the equivalent of debraining a human. The then debrained snailperson can be converted into a sentient backpack, like a pAI but worse.
As for slime trails, barefoot snailpeople should leave slimey trails behind them, with Davidchan's idea of having shit-tons of some chems in the body making the slime trail contain trace amounts of those chems. Otherwise, the trails would probably contain small amounts of whatever "blood" that snailpeople have, maybe a new reagent called Slime, if that's not already taken up by slimepeople. This means that you can chug water for a quick getaway. Lynching or being racist towards barefoot snails would be commonplace, and a snailperson that's leaving lube everywhere would probably be killed by the AI for being a hazard to humans.
Snails would also probably have plasmeme-level slowness.

I personally think that any non-human race should always have a net disadvantage over humans, even if they have some perks. Maybe for this race you get an undisarmable backpack and a feeling of snowflakeism in exchange for being a slow obnoxious fuck that the crew would love to lynch.

Topham has the right idea here I think. The shell on their back can be fluffed away as an evolutionary hold over. Though the slowness would make sense if they had a slug/snail lower body. But then that means they can only leave slime everywhere.

Other than the lower body issues, I think they should still have eyes where a human does for sunglasses, mesons, etc. Maybe they learned how to mimic human traits to better "fit in?" I can see them having slime-like hair that's used for slimepeople too. (Big ass slime pompadours) It neatly blends in the jelly people idea that has been unused into one race.

Salt should cause minor burn damage.

Depending on how the lower body is worked out here will determine the jobs available to them as well, like lizardpeople.

Maybe, they'd chug along at the speed of golems without gravity, and chug at the speed of a hardsuit wearer if they have shoes on?

No shoes, ever
They have slug/snail lower bodies (if possible, I know about the clothing might be a problem, but chei said it`s doable.)
salt deals a shit ton of burn damage 1u = 5 burn
Snail shells for bags.
Slower movement
Always gravity (because stickyness)

I have never seen people disguise as a human -> lizardmen or vice versa.

i personally think that if we plan on implementing snailpeople then there's no harm in letting them have legs for simplicity's sake. i mean, if we were implementing people-sized snails that'd be a different story, but i don't think we are

Snail people with shells would be acceptable, because shells are enough for the snail association. If we're going to have slugs they need to be legless though.

Maybe when you make a snail character, you could choose to have a shell or not. Then people could be snails OR slugs!

This, I was gonna shitpost about slugs being superior but this would make it really good. Personally legless seems like the way to go, and maybe add hidhing in their shell in some way, like xenos sprites being different in crit or stuff.
