Paintballs: Go Splat Yourself.

THISISFRONK, iamgoofball and a few others, along myself, were discussing how the sounds and shape of the lasertag guns and the lasers they make were too similar to the real thing. I chimed in as a joke "why not mak'em paintball guns?"

This is a good simile to what the reaction was.

After much consideration, we came up with the features of paintball:
  • There will be 2 team colors: blue and orange
  • Paintballs are 1u reagent containers
  • They will leave splats when and where they hit
That's all we got now. Feel free to contribute to the idea!

Current people working on this:
Sprites from Iamagoofball,THISISFRONK, and Neinhaus with recoloring by A4Brogan
Coding by Fleure.

We will edit and post sprites to here if wanted.

EDIT1: As I am typing this, Neinhaus just showed me a mask!

I'd be willing to help out on the coding side of this if Fleure wants any help. No hard feelings if he'd rather do it himself though, as coding in cooperation is a tricky beast at best.

As someone who received his first ban for noobishly exploding himself of when a bunch of skeletons attacked me with laser tag guns, I fully support this.

I like laser tag better.
Paintball are actually damaging and would giver minor bruise damage, laser tag is 100% non-harmful.
Laser tag guns sounding the same as real lasers and having the clown almost get arrested is apart of SS13 tradition. Not to mention, lasers are cool.
I'm not sure how you would code in "hit". In laser tag, you get hit with an enemy laser and your down. Would paintball work the same way?
I wouldn't look forward to the station becoming an easel because two guys wanted a paintball war.
Laser tag code is one of my favorites and I've been meaning to expand it with some of the ideas I have.
Don't remove laser tag. Laser tag forever.

Paintball hurts.

Well, it stings a little, but it still hurts.
But yah, as tazers dont hurt I guess this could not hurt in the game.

They have in my experience.
Who knows, might have been a different pressure, brand of paintballs or something.

Wether paintballs should damage people in a game isn't a question of pain. More of "could you expect to reliably kill someone with this?" and with a paintball I would say no.

Could you kill someone with a prop sword if you tried hard enough? Maybe doesn't mean we should simulate that though.

Why not that fake damage, that 1 point of oxyloss damage that makes the bloody screen so real for a few seconds then goes away?

Isn't that how practice lasers do it i think idk?

Or stamina damage. More things need to use stamina damage.
