Dot Wires

Post by Psyentific » #2530

I'm not sure if I've suddenly started doing it wrong, but it seems to me like all wiring auto-smooths right now. If you lay a wire on a knotted wire, it turns into a smoothed wire.

Can we revert this? Ever since this went through, I've been having a lot of trouble doing my wiring because I never figured out how to do wire junctions with smooth wires.
I haven't logged into SS13 in at least a year.

Same here... I don't know how to use a generator mid wire since this happened (months ago but still)

The new wiring system is a lot easier in my opinion and it also means that repaired cables no longer look like a mess like they did before. Just take a while to learn it in the construction area or something. I'm against reverting to the old one.

how to do wire junctions:
make your curve
make another wire to the center
curve to opposite side
done

I still dont really like this change...

Slowed down the wiring of solars for me.
I am located here, lurking in your posts, leaving piles of transparent wordings and being confused. Oh, I also try to map...

This, this is an example of what I leave for you.

I really hope this wiring-overhaul (which went totally unannounced or atleast I also missed it) was done to optimize the lag the power network makes and such, and not just because some autist coder thought the knots looked ugly.

Same here, and I dont think it was announced.
At the very least, I only learned it when my wiring went screwie due to it.

It was part of an optimization yeah. I actually like it, I hated having to precisely click on the wire everytime when laying the solars.

Though don't forget that the knots are actually required for certain machines like the generators to work.
i dont even know what the context for my signature was

You can still make a knot if you put a wire down over a full wire, or just place a wire on an empty floor tile.
