I prefer the gas mask variant of Kor's image. Not only does it more embody SS13 but it also leaves whoever the statue is meant to represent more ambiguous and less identifiable.

I wonder what this crew man did that was so note worthy, or above and beyond, to be given a statue to honor their memory. Likely something to do with Plasma due to its extremely useful properties.

My girlfriend and I prefer the gas mask version as well, but the commissioner was afraid it would be dehumanizing. Customer is always right (except when they're not and you stubbornly finish an alt version that you think looks better anyway)

As to what he did, one of my earliest and fondest memories of SS13 was the singularity tearing through escape, and the head of security rushing an alien queen and shoving them both into it to save the shuttle. Unless I am missing the point of the statue, it's dedicated to all the crazy heroes like that, or the clowns that snatch the nuke disk off the floor out from the under the ops, etc.

Considering the setting of the game you could take 100 interpretations of the statue, I'm liking the idea that since SS13 is sort of the wild west in terms of how far out it is, and that Plasma is essentially the next generation of "oil" that the actions undertaken by the nameless men and women of Nanotrasen to secure a golden age for Humanity are looked upon with respect and admiration.

Every time I look at it I just see him reaching for a lighter in his pocket to light the plasma on fire

No but for real that "nameless hero" statue art is actually like one of the best fanarts I've ever seen of this game
I like to think that I've been that hero at least once before

Thanks, I was aiming to give a nod to those that don't get/want recognition for what they'd done, and their robustness wasn't forgotten.
Props to the "unknowns" and "nobodies" that changed rounds out of the woodworks for good, only to slink into the maint never to be seen again the next.


I was inspired by the statue of the unknowns around the world (Arlington for example). Lotta story and tradition behind that statue; the guards that patrol there don't wear ranks as not to outrank (out importance) the unknowns as a form of respect. That's where I got the inscription too.
