Bottom post of the previous page:

maybe just remove syndicate keys? it sounds like i'm not the only one who's had that issue. unless there's going to be a policy change to traitor (like making those with synidcate keys illegal to rat others out), it's just pointless. It's a big "rat me out" object. Seriously if you take the key just to rat others out, you have no room to complain about "being forced into coop antags"

i've cooperated with more people than i've been betrayed by.

it's in everyone's best interest to cooperate, unless it's DA

in which case it's DA that's a risk w/e

This whole thread is objectively wrong anyway because syndie keys are one of our most popular items

It's super useful though. I've used it to keep in touch during murder bones. It's especially great if comms are down you still have a way of talking

They are useful, but I wish there was a way to get your TCs back if no one is on the radio.

The problem with making it free is that it also lets you listen in on every channel. If it was just the Syndie chat, that'd be fine (buy an agent ID and voice changer for anonymity), but being able to spy on secure channels is too powerful to be free.

Give traitors one free Syndicate channel key only, and add the channel-spying to the binary key?

If we still had NTSL I'd have suggested a syndie IRC chat for free with the key being the upgrade

I'm not sure about the PDA code but what about anonymous PDA messaging that could only be be checked through logging in
IE once you unlock it their would be a list of Pseudonyms, Mr. Pink, Mr. Black and so on. And you could send them messages. How this is balanced is as follows. It wouldn't vibrate or show the "message sent icon" message sent icon with no PDA messages could be meta'd hard. So it'd require them to have their PDA unlocked and in their hand to check and send those messages.

Keys are common as fuck, and if anything, OP for their price.

Being able to co-ordinate with other traitors anywhere on station, comms up or not is a huge advantage. And having multiple dudes with revolvers/stands/whatever is such a huge force multiplier.
One traitor is most likely fucked if that get tased or flashbanged by a sec officer (adrenal or freedome implants aside). If you're with one or 2 buddies, suddenly that sec officer has to land 2 or 3 successful stuns on different people within a few seconds, to be able to safely cuff people. And even then you can't hold them, or often even cuff them all.
And because (most) sec officers don't just valid salad traitors on the spot, your buddies have a very good chance to save you enroute to the brig, especially if it's just one officer escorting you.

Sure, it could be DA, or someone could dob you in, but for 1tc or whatever the fuck it is, it's rediculously powerful, most of the time.

even if there are no syndies on the channel the secchat can be worth it.

at a glance you can tell if you've been noticed, overhear orders being given out, troop movements against you etc.

i've found it a very handy tool for desword rampages because you can always hear where they're going to show up and be prepared.

This is a pretty fucking huge downside. As cool as it would be to 5-man traitor dream team, getting shot by someone you thought was an ally for your loot is pretty shit. It'd be like if nops were allowed to kill each other to get more telecrystals for themselves.

Really though. Even making these free would be awful, because then it'd just assure that if there was just ONE traitor that wanted to murderbone everyone else and take their shit, then they could.

I use it almost every time that I'm traitor.
I've never been betrayed outside of DA.

There simply isn't really any good reason to betray your fellow traitors rather then work with them (other then to be a dick). 2 guys with 40tc of shit is far, far more dangerous than one guy with 40tc of shit.
And now that the escape alone objective has become family friendly, the only genuine reason left is having them as your kill/maroon target. (something that already got removed from ling, because family friendly)

Also as Cik said, even without other traitors to work with, having full comms alone (for 1tc!) is such a powerful advantage

Before these keys, working with other traitors required a lot more effort and risk, since it meant actually meeting face to face, out of earshot (and sight) of non traitors, which made it far easier to double cross if they chose.

Every single time I've ever used one of these I've been ratted out to sec by other traitors and summarily killed by either them or sec. This isn't even on Double Agents, some people just want you to hate playing the game.

I've always gone out of my way to help fellow traitors/lings. Like two days ago a fellow ling got found out and N20 gassed by sec and along I came to save the day.

Most of the time they usually feel indebted to you and help you out with your objective. And if you're their target then they might decide that the greentext isn't worth killing the nice woman who saved their asses (long shot I know).
