Can you kill an ascended shadowling with a point blank maxcap bomb or are they completely immortal?

Bombs don't even scratch them.

Singularities don't kill them. They're effectively immortal.

ascended shadowlings are kinda like lord british in that anything that can kill them is probably a bug

They die if they walk into a supermatter shard.

It is settled then. To kill an ascended shadowing you need to make a supermatter shard atmos trap

i always hear about it but i've never found where the "kill point" for power drains is, that fabled one wire/wire line that you can plop a drain on to literally disable the whole station. im too lazy to figure out/study the map in byond itself, so does anyone here know the location/s?

Last I looked the entire station is on the same grid, so you can plonk the sink anywhere except for the solars, obviously not every location is as well hidden

Re: Simple Questions Thread

by Ricotez
The powersink is coded to search the powergrid it is connected to and drain any APC and SMES it finds of power. Almost the entire station is connected to the main powergrid. Only exceptions are the solars and the engine, which power SMESes that then send their power into the main grid.

Incidentally, using SMESes like that is also the only way you can create one-way power lines and separate parts of the grid from other parts without cutting the power flow to them.

how do i make maxcaps? im trying to learn toxins but i cant seem to make anything other than fucking toot bombs.

this is what i've been doing:
-3 canisters with 66% plasma 33% oxygen
-burn all three in the burn chamber
-fill an oxygen tank with 66% plasma 33% oxygen
-fill plasma tank with the superheated gas

and for that matter, i cant seem to attach shit to the bombs either, arent you supposed to be able to screwdriver shit to make it attachable?

The oxygen tank should only have cooled oxygen in it( you can use the cooler in the testing lab, aim for around -140 degrees for a good volume of gas)

The plasma tank and oxygen tank should be emptied beforehand using scrubbers or air filters.

Fill the plasma tank with 200kpa raw plasma, then fill the rest with superheated gas

Is there a way to deconstruct intercoms and construct them elsewhere or make some sort of radio. I'm trying to figure out how to make a replacement AI core in the event of the AI sat getting bombed.

Great place for powersinks is in arrivals maint above prime tool storage, or electrical maint assuming somebody didn't make a camera there.

Nope.

Intercoms arent necessary though, the AI has a builtin headset.

They ae for the downed radio event, actually. Just build your replacement AI core somewhere one already exists, or give it a SBR if its not meant to do anything sneaky.

In virology, what's the point of longevity? Temporary buffs are nice, but a disease curing itself seems kind of counter-productive, especially since the infected can't catch it again.

i figure it was intended to be used with DNA Aide to give temporary superpowers (or for death viruses since if it kills you fast enough it wont matter if it cures itself because you're dead)

The entire point seems to be just buffing dangerous diseases so you can include more KILL THINGS FAST symptoms without the cure just being salt.

It's the sort of thing that's only really useful if you also release other diseases without it so that you can't just brute/burn patch your way through the length of the disease.

To be honest it's kind of a terrible symptom, especially when Eternal Youth exists which buffs shit basically the same amount except for transmissibility, which you're going to use sneezing to force airbourne anyway so who cares.

When you release like 30 viruses (incrementally) people will just spread them around and suffer horribly from 50 different forms of rape.
Still pretty pointless though since you can do the same without it.

Honestly /tg/s viro doesn't do killing very well, but what it does amazingly is crippling people. Blindness, deafness, random genetic defects, and randomly bursting into flame is probably the most robust virus you can get outside of admin viruses.

I am new at playing with athmos. What can i do with this canister?

Results of analysis of the canister.
Pressure: 632422 kPa
Nitrogen: 0 %
Oxygen: 0 %
CO2: 100 %
Plasma: 0 %
Temperature: 6572 °C

Or this one:

Pressure: 501249 kPa
Nitrogen: 0 %
Oxygen: 0 %
CO2: 100 %
Plasma: 0 %
Temperature: 10609 °C

They're pure CO2. You could release them into a room and do a really bad job of suffocating people, I guess, or use the canisters as roadblocks and open them to push people around. They're very hot CO2, though, so if you're into trapping someone in a room and burning-slash-suffocating them alive, go for it. Remember, you need oxygen for a fire to work, but pure hot CO2 will burn (but not ignite) them anyway.

A can that hot will completely destroy anybody on the escape shuttle, or the hallway full of people if you weld the airlocks shut. It'd make an area completely inhabitable for a long time barring a hull breach.

you could use it to gas the liggers, as a borg this would be legit even as a non-antag provided the liggers have been harmful to humans and you deploy the can in such a way that would definitely avoid human harm.

Screwdriver on the defib to get the power cell out.

Shove the power cell in one of the cell chargers, they're on tables in medbay.

When it's charged, shove it back in. Don't worry about doing the screws up, it just works.

I once spent an entire round borging corpses the secborg brought me before the captain burst in covered in blood firing the EMP rifle and was like "WTF are you doing we thought there was an autoborger"

Turns out I'd left my headset in the hallway and not noticed the very active malf round

kudzu is a week not a regular plant - you gotta get weeds with sugar spam, then you can get kudzu. (But please don't, fuck kudzu)

Kudzu is great. Nobody ever uses it because it's so hard to get it, but if you can mutate it to be aggressive spreading and have decent potency, you just win SS13.

Re: Simple Questions Thread

The problem is that it ISN'T hard to get.

A certain cuck that will remain unnamed, used to do it EVERY FUCKING ROUND on basil. It takes seriously 10 mintes from round start (as a non botanist at that) to get 50 seeds and just fuck the entire station.
It's seriously only matched in station fucking power by 6 max cap bombs and the singulo.

Re: Simple Questions Thread

Posted: Tue Oct 13, 2015 10:03 pm
by Zilenan91
Daisy right? Yeah I heard about her. I think the reason it's so bad on basil is because of the big map and low server pop. On something like sybil, it gets discovered instantly because there are so many people constantly moving around, while on basil it can grow for up to 5 or 10 minutes with nobody seeing it at all, making it infinitely worse than before due to the random mutations and area coverage in general.

Yeah I was mutating empty trays that were overgrown with weeds and I kept getting death nettles and destroying angels. Shitty RNG I guess.
