In my opinion, Tgstation has taken a downturn in the last year.

Things just aren't fun anymore. Features are dumbed down and removed because of shitty players abusing them until it is necessary for their removal.
Dumbing down and removing those features, and keeping those shitty players results in even more shitty players coming into tgstation.
Shit rolls downhill, and what we do upstream here ultimately poisons downstream servers that suddenly have features cut off because of poor players here.

I was challenged by Joan to back this up with stats.
These stats are rough. Sometimes PRs take months to be merged and it messes up the maths, and sorting through isn't easy, atleast the method I did it.
Fixes (Joan's stats).
In 2015 - 1404 fixes were merged.
In 2016 - 1599 fixes were merged.
In 2017 (6 months) - 1315 fixes were merged.

It's clear that the game is heading toward a less buggy state every day. Push onward to break the 2500 fixes milestone by December!

Removals:
~84 removals. 41 were tagged, I counted about 43 untagged. This number can vary.
121 tagged removals in 2016.
88 tagged removals in 2017.

It's clear my statement stands about dumbing down and removing features. More content is being removed this year. We're already at 88 merged removals within half this year. If we continue, we'll have removed twice as much as we removed in 2015.

Balance/Rebalance:
~305 balances in 2015.
~530 balances in 2016.
~207 balances in 2017.

It's clear 2016 was the year of balance. This year things are still being balanced at a slower but steady rate.

Features:
499 features merged in 2015.
~750 features merged in 2016.
~300 features merged in 2017.

This is clear that in 2016, we had a massive flow of features. But this year we are slowing down.

PRs merged:

~3575 PRs merged in 2015.
~4350 PRs merged in 2016.
~2600 PRs merged in 2017.

This is it. On a 6 month scale, we could breach 5000 PRs merged. And a majority of PRs merged now are FIXES.


This is to a new 2017, a less buggier game.

However, this isn't entirely good. The ratios of balance, removals, and features is creating a negative experience for spacemen as less features and balance is merged, and more content is removed.

How do you check your server connections over time?

On topic, unless you convince the host or a group of developers/admins to set the server on a very strict and well documented standard, then you are never going to see any kind of high level cohesion like what servers like CM have.

Its not that it would be hard, its just that it would go against the style of /tg/ code.
