Probably belongs in Coding, but it didn't exactly seem like a 'code' question.

Dicking around trying to test some stuff on a private server. Added my ckey to admins.cfg with the correct rank in the correct place and it refuses to acknowledge me as a server admin. Insight?

anyway, tried a few different ways but that's the way I tried originally; capitalized my key correctly, tabbed down, etc - none worked.

No dice. Removing the hashtag or slapping a space between it and my ckey didn't work. Still refusing to acknowledge me when I start up a new world.

Is that listed all on one line? I'm pretty sure you need each 'ckey = rank' on a new line.

Yeah, it was all on one line in the file, so I assumed it didn't make a difference. I'll give it a look.

it's all on different lines, if it's on one line that means that notepad fucked up your line endings.
use notepad++ to advoid this

Or wordpad in a pinch.

but notepad++ is the best.

Basically, what's happening, is that there are two main different ways at the byte level to signify the next line in a file, and notepad only supports one. wordpad, that also comes bundled with windows, supports the other, but is clunky, notepad++ supports them and also is just easier to use.
