Do you take pride in your job?

Not the real drudge work in the 3D world you use to keep yourself out of NEETdom. I mean the one you choose or select from chargen.

Do you feel any sort of accomplishment or pride in doing whatever role you choose to do well or above standards or is it just a vehicle to get tools/toys/items/whatever to then disregard that job? I'm not expecting a lot of people to outright admit "well, no I just validhunt xd" but I'd kinda like to take a bit of a barometer read on this. Can you remember the last thing you did with your job/role that made you proud of your creation or management? This could be a department thing too since this is a social game by design.

I am always proud when my botanical garden bumps up against other player's rounds and gives them a little push.

Yes, I take pride in shaft-minering as efficiently and skillfully as possible. Namely killing megafauna as quickly as possible. With short rounds and all, you have to be quick about it or you won't get to kill anything at all.

I take pride in being one of the only Wardens nowadays who seem to actually guard and upgrade the brig, as-well as direct security.
I also take pride in being a security officer. I think i'm pretty good at it.

I like my job.
I don't, however, like almost anything surrounding it which made me stop playing most jobs.
Specifically, as warden I don't like assholes who make a mess of my brig (and HoSholes who steal my krav gloves), as barman or chaplain I don't like assholes who never come and visit, as clown I don't like assholes who don't appreciate my puns, as mime everyone hates you even more than the clown but some assholes take it too far, and as QM I don't like assholes who don't keep records or keep them incorrectly. Shit's saved my ass on several occasions, you know.

Generally speaking the role I like the most is drone. You can be as autistic as you want and indirectly affect people's rounds, but you have so many escape routes and usually fly under the radar that hardly anyone will fuck with you unless you waltz right up.
That aside atmos, virology, botany are really fucking comfy and if rounds lasted longer they'd be even comfier. So I also don't like assholes who insist on calling the shuttle as soon as it's done refueling.

I take a lot of pride in my work as an engineer. Engineering is a serious job for people who actually want to help the station.

As security I take pride when I can but that often gets worn down very quickly by tiders and antags and soon enough I'm busting out the combat shotguns and mowwing down people in the hallways throwing people into space harmbatonning people to death while they shout insults at me for being shitcurity.

i am proud of my engineering work when i fix a delaminating SM

When Xenobiology wasn't 'ruined' in my opinion, I took pride in becoming an abductor.

Now Xenobio is basically useless to me since I only wanted to powergame to become my favorite race, not to become a slimeperson that can use a wiz spell to stop time.

For what it's worth with stargazers you can still do telepathy gimmicks and form your little gang without having to turn them all into abductors.

Personally i was proud of my work as a virologist and then as an RnD scientist, i think people still remember the guide i made. Then i reworked virology into something i no longer knew the perfect recipe for, and techwebs made my expertise in RnD useless. I like the changes, but i'm no longer an expert on those departments. So now i pretty much just code and only play to test out my new features.

As efficiently and skillfully as I possibly can. I die all the time, and there are certainly better shaft miners out there. Though its a little hard to judge unless you just spend entire rounds observing shaft miners.

I do like my AI play, though my responsiveness leaves a lot to be desired recently, and my habit to misspell things certainly isn't helping.

I like working in Xenobio and I have a perfect setup of sorts for it, but I never really get the time to ever use much of the things I can make there at all.

It wasn't about the telepathy that I complain is broken or forming my own gang.

I just like abductors. They're my favorite race because I like grey aliens. I actually like emoting stuff besides 'ayy lemoh' as an abductor because it's fun. Mime just doesn't feel the same either in that regard.

none of these things are possible or happen anymore thanks to techwebs and departmental lathes, I know a lot of RD's are cunts and just hole up in science but I miss being able to actually help people because now all I do is play cookie clicker while taking a nap or validhunting in between and its boring as shit

Pretty much.

IMO dead content should either be fixed or removed, clearly there isn't going to be a fix because they added techwebs, so I'm hoping my "REMOVE SCIENCE" idea grains traction.

I love-love-love being CMO. It thrills me to no end when someone comes into medbay one lighter burn from crit screaming about how they're gonna die, falls into softcrit right in front of me, continues to whisper about how it's hopeless and they're lost - then I tell them to hush and let me work, and thirty seconds later they're back on their feet ready to go die somewhere that isn't on my clean white floor. Every "thanks doc" and "you're the best cmo" is validation for me, and gives me the most satisfaction this game has ever offered.

Plus, denying Harold Robinson his much-desired suicide no matter how hard he tries is a special kind of fun by itself.

I love reviving random people with cpr and epinephrine pens!
And I take pride in repairing the station after someone blows up a part of it, even if they usually call the shuttle and leave me behind!
I'm also proud of myself when I steal everything in the station that isn't bolted down and sell it!
Getting drunk and saying dumb things on the general channel is also something that feels me with pride!
I also feel great about how I'm usually the only miner left alive and doing his job most of the time XD

Wait, who in the world screams they're gonna die, while in softcrit, in medbay with a competent CMO actively treating you? You aren't going to die unless you're so close to death that you can't whisper without succumbing, and even then probably not unless you got some nasty poisons in you.

Anyway, aside from shaft miner, I take pride in...
uh...
quarry... mining...? I MAY be job banned from everything interesting except shaft miner.

One thing I do love about shaft mining: shaft miners are actually fucking good at healing people if they've got points. A stim pen will bring anyone out of crit so reliably you can just shank them with it and then leave, and a hivelord core is a universal "Oh, you are suffering from literally any injury or disease? Well now you are instantly and completely healthy, enjoy!".

Okay, fair enough. I guess i don't have much experience with it, as shaft miner you are either a-okay or really, really dead and usually nothing inbetween, and medbay can't help you.

I either slap the bare minimum in brute pack/ointment to get them out of crit and sleeper them or put them in the cryo untill they no longer have negative health points, take them out, and then stick em in a sleeper, then shake them awake.

I really don't like doctors who leave you in cryo untill you heal and then to slowly wake up.
