Expected event date (might change) : Saturday, August 4th, 2018 at 6PM EST (11PM GMT+1, 3PM PST)
Expected location : Event Hall Server

Alrighty, we have been thinking about this event for a while now. I will be hosting a toolbox fighting tournament similar to the previous one held by Okand. The difference is that we will be using this event to donate money to charity for a good cause. The event should be about 2-3 hours depending on how fast we get through each fight. We should have a schedule of the event done soon.

Charity and donation information
Click here to donate for /tg/station at their website!
Spoiler:
Image
There will be more info here as time goes on. As of now, we have decided to use Extra Life as our charity of choice for this event. They donate all funds from our /tg/ page to the Children's Miracle Network. All donations stay local to fund critical treatments, healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care. We have a goal right now of $1,000 dollars USD but we hope that we can break that goal. There is an optional $5 dollar donation upon registering (not required), but anyone is welcome to donate!

Some perks for donating: (More coming soon!)
  • For donations of 5 dollars or above
  • VIP lounge access during the event
  • Seperate Discord Role in the main /tg/ discord
  • Special custom workout room for your team (See link below for options)
  • Special team jumpsuits (See link below for options)
(See the image link here for more info. PM my on discord to pick your setup.)

For donations of 50 dollars or above
  • Based in General rank on discord for the week
  • Can post in admin auditorium for a week

For donations of 100 or above
  • Special shoutout in #announcements
Make sure to put your discord name when you donate so I can give you your role!
Tournament Format and Information.
Spoiler:
The tournament (as of now) will be a single elimination style tournament with teams of three. This means that each team will be eliminated when they lose. We cannot guarantee that all teams will play the same amount of rounds since that would require the number of teams to be a power of 2 (which isn't exactly guaranteed) Some teams may play more rounds than others, unfortunately. The tournament will be a 3 versus 3 arena-style team battle where each member of each team will receive a toolbox. The team with the last man standing will be declared the winning team. The losing team will be eliminated. Additionally, Since we do not know the number of players who will be participating in the event, we are unable to tell how many rounds will be played but we believe there will be about 5-7 rounds depending on how many teams we receive.

You can see the previous arena made by Okand from the past tournament here (just to show how big the arena is)
Tournament Rules
Spoiler:
Team rules
  1. Teams MUST not use any performance-enhancing chemical reagents during the arena match (No Ephedrine, Meth, etc.) Any players found violating this will have their team AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED
  2. Teams and all players are allowed to use out of game communication (skype, discord, etc) during this event.
  3. Only teams of 3 are allowed. Teams are allowed to have optional backup players but they will not receive prize money.
  4. Each team should have a team captain that can be talked to on discord (preferably) or in-game.
  5. There is no guarantee you will be able to get into the server depending number amount of people going to the event. If you are a part of a team, you should get there early.
  6. If a team does not have three people at the time of their match, they will automatically forfeit their match.
  7. Teams should report when they win to their designated admin contact (We will figure out who this is closer to the date)
Fighting rules
  1. All forms of combat are allowed. You may throw your teammates/opponents at your foes, you may disarm your opponent, and you may throw your toolbox.
  2. No objects from outside the arena other than what is given to you may be used.(I.E. you should be without any jumpsuit and clothing going into the arena.)
As of now, I will distribute the prize from my own steam funds. The prize will be $75 USD worth of steam games distributed to the winning team ($25 USD dollars each) in the form of games or CS:GO crate keys depending on the preference of the winners. Pork also said he'll throw in $75 dollars for the second and third place people.

Needed help:
ADMIN ONLY POSITIONS:
Spoiler:
Facilitator
We will likely require 3-4 admins to be in charge of handling requests by players this includes:
  • Getting players to their arena (probably the majority of what is needed and why this is particularly needed)
  • Talking with team captains to make sure all players are here
  • Reporting the winner of each match
  • Handling misc requests
Bracket staff
We will likely need 1-2 admins to help us out with the bracket. This will involve helping us manage the bracket and receiving the reports from the facilitator admins about who won each match and recording that to the bracket. We're expecting a lot of people during the event so this will be an important role.

On duty admin
Any admin can apply for this and any amount is acceptable. There will likely be griefing and people who cause problems, so we'd just like some people to be on duty to handle ahelps.

DJ
yeah sure why not (ONLY ONE ADMIN PLEASE)
ADMINS AND NON-ADMINS POSITIONS
Spoiler:
MAPPER
Feel free to reach out to me if you're interested in taking a look at the map and even mapping the event itself. Someone reached out to me last time during the ball but I forgot to respond, so I apologize about that. If you have any mapping experience and would like to help out, feel free to reach out to me. I promise I'll respond back.

Security
We could really use people who designate themselves as security for the event to maintain order. Usually, this is good for people who can be trusted with the role. Likely there will be people who roll for the role when the round commences but we would be happy to suit up people for security if they're not participating in the event.
If you're interested in one of these roles (or you have any other questions), feel free to Forum PM me or ping me on discord @CitrusGender ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵃᶜᶜᵒᵘⁿᵗ#0366

you could make it where the winning team / winning person get to select the charity.

to prevent them from selecting something bad like the alhussar jihad foundation or something, you could make it a shortlist, like wounded warriors, autism speaks, ect ect

This is important so I think this deserves a post.

Do you guys think we should keep all RNG elements (I.E. Disarm chance, toolbox head hit/braindamage chance, Punch stun chance etc)?
There's probably more, but I will keep the discussion here. Please list any other random stuff so we can discuss it. I've also made a poll.

Feel free to raise any other concerns about the tournament and rules in this thread.

I wonder what'd be better to abuse disarm + targetting the head or punch stun + targetting the head. With punch stun you have to RnG a 12 damage max hit to stun them and then toolbox them. = more damage. But its a lot harder to achieve, while with disarm + targetting the head with a tool box. It's a whole lot easier to get, but less damage.

The proper tactic would be to disarm first, punch stun while down. Then toolbox the head for the rest of the shots. If your opponent is plain toolboxing you and you dont get a good disarm in the first time in. You are screwed, but if you do. GG no RE.

On a better note, that's very cool of you headmin administration for doing an event like this! I'll participate for fun, but I don't really use steam that much. My PC's not very optimized for gaming.

The true tactic here is going to be throwing your teammates for the stuns on impact.

Good damage but they dont last long enough. They're good for making your opponents to drop there weapons though. Just gotta make them not pick them up.

ALSO ARE THESE TOOLBOXES FILLED? IF SO THEN WELDER BURN DAMAGE TOWN HERE I COME

These are not allowed.

Additionally, if you're found using it, you and your team will be disqualified and possibly banned.
We get a notification when people use it.

Well yeah but nothing stops you from using macros under the click speed, i.e. shit like this

I mean hopefully it'd be obvious when people do it, but there's no real way to verify if someone is using an external program.

And if you're about to say CHEATING IN A SS13 AUTISM SIMULATOR CHARITY EVENT? WHO WOULD DO SUCH A THING? you're reminded this is the interwebs.

The problem with autoclickers or macros is more that under some circumstances they can allow you to click on things you shouldn't be able to.

I still have the note, but I've talked with rustled about it

For the logistics of putting contestants in arenas: I'd recommend deleting contestants and spawning them in on their side, then doing select equipment with a custom loadout of:

Red or blue jumpsuit, black shoes, toolbox.

This will prevent smuggling in items that can be used for cheating or using performance enhancing chemicals. If they don't get deleted to be placed in their side, adminheal them and select equipment to remove chemicals (I think that removes chems).

This is not a bad idea but this has a lot of admin overhead since there will be many more people than before and possibly 6 matches going on at once.
Depends on how much help I get during the event.

Minor change: The tournament will be moving from Double Elimination to Single Elimination due to time constraints. Thirty teams playing twice in three hours is impossible and a logistical nightmare so we will be changing it to single elimination.

Just a heads up.

all good, you can donate and not fight. There will be a bunch of people who donated but won't be in the tournament.

Big announcement too

I just received word that Spessmanart decided to draw free art for the tournament so we've decided to do a raffle. Everyone who donates will get one entry into the raffle (Minimum donation of $5 dollars) and I'll probably announce the winner on stream when I get it working.

If that wasn't enough to donate then I don't know what is.
