Can anyone provide some screenshots of what darkness in the station looks like with and without the night vision quirk/trait?

For a more serious answer, I don't recommend night vision. the advantage of night vision is it only costs 1 mutation point to get a view allowing you to use both hands, but a glow orb will be better in the long run. Try light manip instead, it costs 4 points but is more powerful and it allows you to shoot lasers.

Here are some preliminary screenshots taken on Runtime station, in the construction area, with the 'Break all lights' verb used and the area APC's battery removed.
