I'd be worried mini-dino. As soon as cats aren't the main focus, what race do you think the players will complain about fetish-wise next?

I thought we already had this argument.

Lizardpeople are not really a focus of removal since they are a true historical handover, they've been in the game far longer than most of us have played it even if their roundstart playable implementation is somewhat more recent.

You may be right. But you have to keep the lizards on their toes.

On the OP, what does it mean that 'remove catpeople' only won by 20 votes? The record seems to indicate the remove won (unfiltered) by a bit over 120 votes.

Oranges could have just smashed that MF merge button instead of going through two polls, the latter one being filtered by MSO as well because headmins say orange man bad

If anything, this poll takes the opinions of the playerbase into consideration and is probably the most reasonable way to approach such a polarizing issue. The filtering is especially good since it weeds out all people who don't even play on /tg/.

I'm not particularly attached to catgirls, but this entire circus around the issue is getting ridiculous. I bet you that half the votes for removing catgirls are just trolls having big lols, yet I see here the most dramatic grandstanding "IT WAS THE WILL OF THE COMMUNITY!!!" like jesus christ, even the poll itself was rigged, you left a single option for catgirls to remain, and in every other option they would be removed from the game, and then you built in some completely unrelated shit into the options, that have nothing to do with the felinid vote, like tieing in the addition of a new race with removing catgirls. It couldn't be more biased, stop bullshitting everyone and just admit that you are ass-blasted by pixels that look like cat ears & tails.

ah yes

the compromise of getting another race that would've been added anyway
and a compromise of a race that was rejected because of being disliked by every maintainer

it was a binary YES/NO poll because there never was a middle ground, like disabling catpeople on one server (like we did in the past)

Anchoring additions only to the removal side biases the poll, without the option to have Ethereals or IPCs added and leave cats untouched the voters who only want the addition are effectively forced to support the rider position of remove cat-people. Frankly the poll creators should be ashamed for using such underhanded methods.

I don't understand all of the tiptoeing around the issues.
A lot of you have taken to answering for oranges, but you're not answering the questions I asked. Could you please answer the following?
Why does the poll that you made hold that it's necessary to remove felinids in order to add etherals?
Is there some reason why a race needs to be removed in order for etherals to be added? If this is a congestion issue, why is it that felinids (the most popular nonhuman race) would be removed to make room when you could instead remove, for instance, flypeople?
Was the inclusion of the "Remove felinids and add <x> enticing new race" poll options an attempt to persuade the voters to vote to remove felinids? If not, what was your specific motivation in making these poll options?
How are etherals or IPCs relevant to this poll's stated premise, which was to gauge whether or not felinids belong in the game? Do you believe that motivating the voters with the promise of other races in any way taints the poll?
Thanks

Actually it strikes me that the data could be extracted from any votes that placed keeping cat people above straight removal in the replacement context. That might show us the true intentions of some of these voters.

Though any removal should stand on its own merit

I believe oranges said that the addition of new species, in this case Ethereals, is only on the condition that in the vote that the option to 'remove Catpeople/Add Ethereals' won. Furthermore he stated that if that vote option did not win that Ethereals would not be added irrespective.

Your thoughts on oranges motivations aside, it does present the vote for Ethereals as a genuine choice since its very probable that they won't be added if Catpeople are not removed.

You can also attempt to argue that oversaturation of non-Human species may not be desirable. We currently have seven round start species you can select from.

The first law of shitcodedynamics states that shitcode cannot be created or destroyed, only converted to another form and moved to another place. IPCs have some shitcode according to all people and catpeople are code considered all shit by some people, so it is necessary to replace the latter with the former to avoid the shitcode appearing in an unknown place on the repo.
