New Players and the Event Hall

Ive been playing on the event hall for a bit, and I have to say I'm super impressed at how interested and nice this batch of new players seem to be. Ive seen them be super helpful to each other, interested in learning, and making active attempts to RP despite not knowing alot of mechanics. I had one atmos tech offer his insulated gloves to another so that they could also learn what I was teaching them about.

If any of y'all have the time, are bored, or whatever, I think it'd be really cool for you to head on over to the event hall and teach the new guys a thing or two about the game. They are super receptive and eager to learn.

It feels nice to help people again.
EDIT: An example of some fun I had as a MD was teaching a player his first surgery. Big Limmy was great. I loved his roleplay.

That was a good round, had one of the atmos techs i was teaching freak out about a ghost whispering to him and threatening him. It was super fun to watch him freaking out about it.

New player using “kangaroo” to insult digitigrade legs is the best original lizard insult I’ve ever heard.

The all-caps can go away and Manuel needs some lessons on how to use /me instead of emoticons but other than that very wholesome thank you.

It's great to be able to teach people without instantly getting greytided and mocked.

I told somebody on Terry just now how Genetics works. He said thanks and started experimenting. He later died in the stationwide-plasma flood while I tried bombing the AI for it (who wasn't even at fault it turns out, just stupid about trying to fix it). Rest in Peace Tom.

They really are delightful to be around. I think we can all learn from the Ssethugees.

I haven't had this much fun since I first started playing SS13. It's so refreshing to play with people who aren't jaded.

Can somebody explain to my why there are so many Ssethfugees at the Event Hall? I've seen no announcements like "If you're new, go here".

Event Hall is the only /tg/ server on the hub.

Panic bunker is currently set to redirect New players to the event hall.

So if someone tries to join sybil/bagil/terry and they haven't been seen on /tg/ they get sent to the event hall, after playing a round they can join mainland /tg/ but this isn't ever explicitly mentioned to them.

Also its on the hub.
