Burnt Out: The Antag Incentive

So you guys know my opinion. A burnt-out player is someone who has gotten sick of the content the regular game has to offer. So they seek negative reactions from other players to amuse themselves.

I feel like one of the biggest draws to keep them here is simply the draw that is antag rolling. If you're lucky in the lobby, you get antag and can basically do whatever you want. The mindset being "IF IM ANTAG I CAN BE A SHITTER WITHOUT LIMITATIONS!"

Maybe completely inadvertently, for the sake of fairness. The antag system has basically turned into a roundstart lottery that keeps bored players here. Upon which, they don't want to contribute positively to the round afterward.

Is there anything we can do to make it less of an "Antag for me!!" lottery. To over-all reduce the number of griefers?

The only idea I have is a roundstart pre-game antag picker. That secretly tells you got the antag in the lobby. This way, all those roundstart suiciders, and greytiders will just leave and we won't have such a negative experience.

I feel like the people who want to roll antag and murder people are missing out on the best griffs on the station. What's the point of just making spacemen horizontal as a traitor when you can have more fun and cause more salt turning people into lizardmen, or freezing the floortiles, or stealing clothing, or any number of hilarious station pranks which are completely fine to do as a crewman.

Do you want a serious answer? Code features you would find enjoyable that isn't antag bound.

The amount of time people take to discuss how they could improve the game could be used to learn the basics of byond, start coding smaller PRs that reflect what YOU want to see in the game, then gradually be able to take on larger projects.

At some point you have to realize you're going to get a point where just talking about it isn't going to be sufficient. If you want it changed, start actually working on it.
