OrdoM has passed away

I'm very sorry to report that we received some exceptionally sad news today.

Our friend, fellow admin, and champion of the "short" reply, OrdoM passed away recently.

While this news was not unexpected - Ordo had been fighting bravely against prion disease for some time - it remains as heartbreaking as it is unfair.

Ordo was sharp as a razor, with wit to match. During the time we knew him he was pursuing a PhD, yet he still found time to volunteer here and help his fellow spessman.

In admin channels you were as likely to find Ordo pontificating on history or food or ham radio as you were anything related to the game. But you knew - no matter the topic - that his opinion was informed and valuable, and that he would deliver it with nuance, class and charm.

This community - and the world - is worse off without him in it.

He will be missed.

So tonight, should you get the chance, raise a glass in his memory.

…but be sure to break out the good stuff.

That’s how he would have wanted it.

you know its kinda funny because he was my first pick for host vote and it would've been REALLY fucked up if he died before his term was over

Hearing about this last night made me shed many tears. Ordo was a lovely person, and he tried very hard to make rounds fun for people.

Hope you're in a better place now, Ordo. I'm going to miss you.

I don't think I ever had a real conversation with him, something I regret now. Makes it hard to say something less generic, but even then it's obvious it's a true loss. Godspeed, man.

I never thought I'd ever experience something like this in the ss13 community and that's kinda depressing.
Hope he didnt suffer much, and that he is in a better place now.

I had several long conversations with Ordo, one of which involved us both fantasizing about a network of solar arrays providing cheap and efficient power to the entire globe (the summary doesn't do it justice). The man had big dreams. He isn't the only one who was working away at big changes and taking breaks as a spaceman. I wanted to make it to the day where we'd both made our dreams reality and got to share them with each other, and it pains me greatly that the day will not come. Despite that fact, I still intend to make the world a better place so people with big dreams like him have an easier time accomplishing them, and I hope he would be satisfied by that. This probably isn't the place for big asks, but I hope each of you will endeavor to make life a little bit easier for everyone, too, in your own ways. There's too much hardship and random suffering for us to fuel the fire with hate and malevolence.

I will always remember him as a true kindred spirit, an inspiration, and he will be in my heart whenever any of my goals succeed.
