okay I kept watching and what the fuck is this shit? I don't think the AI was malf, yet it literally ignored the entirety of sec getting murdered and yelling for help on comms, HOS does the same, comes to brig, walks into stunbaton range, walks away, and starts firing lethal shots at a fucking DESWORDER. Everyone keeps running to the brig with zero stuns and getting murdered even though legit everyone that died was shouting "DESWORDER BRIG DESWORDER BRIG"

Was this after the Sseth tide retards came?

To be fair, before cloning got removed, this wasn't all that uncommon, when you die as sec the implant doesn't transfer to your other body. In the best antag round I ever played, I used this exact fact to my advantage, after absorbing the HOS and putting on his entire gear, I was able to bullshit my way through security, implanted myself, and had a lot of fun with my private army. :mrgreen:

Also, while I get most of those people were fairly bad at fighting, and shoves were a fresh mechanic that people didn't fully understand yet, it's really interesting seeing this from a modern perspective, given how the whole time I was looking at the perfect points to kick a body under you and seeing absolutely nobody taking those shots. But also how really little fighting has changed as a whole, still reliant on stun juggling. The biggest and most fundamental change in this video that isn't present today is actually body dragging slowdown is yet to be introduced, and obviously adrenals being more useful as a speedup in combat.

I am most impressed by only one person using a bola on you. He could have ended you then and there if he was quicker on the draw of that baton. Something people probably don't remember very well is that stun batons could chew through adrenal antistun if you kept swinging, so you can totally kill someone with harm batons even through adrenals so long as you kept up the hits. And bolas were damn solid means of keeping someone in place. The only problem being that bolas could hit the thrower (because throwing objects didn't ignore the thrower like bullets will ignore a firer), so they weren't very often utilized and took a bit to catch on once the fix was made.

I remember that, and honestly it seems absurd why anyone thought rng disarms was better for department defence. Before shoves, you had to rely on a fucking random number generator to put them into a stun which is a once in a blue moon save at best and by no means something you can rely on executing.

So the irony of the change was that it took a very unreliable (and extremely shit) mechanic that could be used to stun someone, with the intent of removing stuns from the game for being too strong, and replaced it with a stun that can be executed by literally anyone and can't be removed from you whatsoever, while also being quite reliable if you know how to apply it. Disarming an assailant was already good enough, and I think that stun change was more than unnecessary. I'd gladly take a disarm any day.

It was definitely a plus for departmental defence but it also turned every single spaceman into Jackie Chan. Wasn't it Nervere pushing for that the most? (Also honestly it felt like it was something that was only a problem because escalation is a dumpster fire and isn't solved by code problems without unintended consequences as a result)

the game being worse in a number of aspects isnt really a secret, there are absolutely changes to the game that have been negative (from big to small). there are shitloads of improvements as well, but our monkey brains which are programmed to avoid danger so we can live and evolve like to remember the negative over the positive, and the longer you play the more plentiful the apparent negatives will become. with this line of thought it's no wonder people burn out, you go to play the game and all the fun things you remember simply don't exist anymore, and the longer you play the less "fun stuff" will exist, so even though the game is still a blast and has plenty of fun stuff still in it (perhaps even more of it with the rate of new things being added), it still gets harder to justify putting time into it for natural fear of the negatives growing even further. what has fucked me over was stun removals (i still stand by that being a huge mistake), i love the game and have had seriously fun as fuck rounds since stun removals went through, yet every time i want to stun a guy and cant, it gives me this dull sort of frustration. like when you play with your pet, then remember an old pet you used to love as a child who has died of old age and being sad that you can't play with them too. it's certainly not that level of trauma, but i think it's the same basic principal of your brain being biased towards the negatives and it just turns me off of wanting to play even though i KNOW the game is still very fun and good. fuckin sux
