GAMESHOW

Hello friends! It's been a good bit of time but I'm happy to announce that we've got one more great event that we're hoping to put together for all of you. Similar to the Toolbox tournament, I wanted to put on another type of spectacle type of event that we will be showing on Twitch. We have some very talented people on our staff this time and I have extremely high expectations that we'll be able to do something fun and interesting for /tg/! But even then, we want to give everyone in /tg/ a chance to be a part of the process and have a chance to show up on our stream. We're inviting all people out there who are interested in taking part in our /tg/station gameshow. I hope this can serve as an interesting event and give everyone the chance to compete, even if you can't form a team or whatever like the toolbox tournaments.

I'm hoping to host the show on Twitch, similar to the toolbox tournament, and commentate on it while it's going on. I'm thinking that this will probably be the last event that I'll be hosting so I'm hoping to make the most out of all of it. I've had a wonderful time organizing all of these events for /tg/ and all the wonderful people who have helped out with it. So with that, please read on if you are interested in helping out this event or competing!

GAMESHOW FORMAT

Similarly to the toolbox tournament, people will be able to enter into the tournament (via google-doc this time) and be considered to join the show. We're looking to have 64 contestants so please be on the lookout for the google doc when it comes out. There will be a mixture of games that will test your ability as an ss13 player ranging from fighting, knowledge of gameplay, overall charisma, and just how lucky you are. At the start, the 64 contestants will be thinned out via a battle royale style game to about 16 who will then be eliminated individually with a variety of different challenges. These challenges can range from things that you've encountered throughout your time on /tg/station to just completely random shit that we come up with. The possibilities are endless and just know this is not fair, it will never be fair. You may get shot in the face by me but hey it will show up an epic twitch clip or something. Still, I ensure you that those who make it the most fun for everyone will be rewarded the most. Once there is one last person standing, that person will be rewarded! I'm thinking about giving out a $100 dollar gift card I got from my work recently, this one can go to a large large variety of stores so we can work that out at the end.

I highly expect things to break. We have amazing staff and we have amazing people working on this project, but I will tell you directly right now that I have accidentally crashed an entire event before by making blackjack bots that didn't understand there was no table underneath them. Just be aware that improvision is an amazing skill to have and I appreciate all the hard work of everyone!

Additionally, we have some problems with the last event and having it completely open to the public. We will try to make it so that we can get 200+ people but there is some potential that it may not be possible. Please just keep this in mind during the event. We'll make sure to stream it over twitch to ensure that everyone is able to see it.

Also what if we did this event on a Saturday instead? We could get more players because there aren't as much people working on a Sunday VS working on a monday

If you are going to stream it, consider limiting the event slots to 100 or lower, the last event we had with the casino was unplayable because the millions of players connecting were causing the game to freeze and crash on a minute basis.

it's complicated but yes, we may need to do this. I am creating a backup whitelist for this just in case.

The overall hope is that me and the eventcoders (and some maintainers) working on this can make it so that we can have everyone on the server. Though there is the chance that won't be the case.

Lola's win was a bit completely bullshit and cringe BUTTT it was all luck the whole way through. Yeah Joey is literally the gamerest botany player of all time but c'mon, the last challenge was botany. That isn't fair regardless, TG isn't about botany. Lola did what they could, don't take this too seriously. Maybe I just think this since I was on the losing end of the family feud.

"kill them using a plant" is going for a fucking loophole. The intent of the challenge was win using botany. making a bat from wood is using botany.

I mean I'm a manueliberal and it's a bit sad but this was all a shitshow. I don't mean that in a negative way, I mean that as in, don't take the event seriously, it's a hot mess. it was fun. not like there's a prize for winning or anything (I think). We've had events with prizes in the past and they were even less fair than this one.

also being the bear was nice. I went through that whole event worrying "oh shit I'm not in this one? I'm probably gonna be in the next one then, and that'll be botany, and then I'll lose." Instead I got the cargo one and the family feud one. I really wish the family feud went normally, even if my team lost anyways, because I was really excited for it. Thoughts on the cargo one, if you were just watching the stream you might not have seen the fucking crate goldmine red team found and how fucking hard all of us were working. The tie was super close so that means both teams were on the ball, or it was incredibly easy. It was pretty okay. Lastly on the first round I got stabbed into softcrit before I could do any drugs. Thought I was fucked but I managed to cling in softcrit for the rest of the round. Longer than both people who stabbed me. That felt good.
