Secret notes are real, but players who join after public notes were added to the game generally wouldn't have one unless they've done something warranting a secret note, examples of secret notes are stuff like suspected metacomms, suspicion that someone's ban evading, etc. By default, notes added before a certain date are secret by default and you have to ask an admin to make them viewable to the player.

to my knowledge the only time we use secret notes are cases where making the note public would defeat the point, like noting for suspected metacomming since if it was public the person could see that the admins were watching out for it and change their behavior

its not something you really need to worry about

the team literally fights itself over not using secret notes on people very frequently
unless you do something very, very bad that absolutely NEEDS a secret note chances are you will not have one
the vast majority of the people I see do not have secret notes on them

people were arguing about if secret notes were appropriate back when i was an admin before

unless you're doing something that really truly warrants it like mentioned above (eg. potential metacomming) they don't get used

one time I had someone ask me over voice to check their notes so they could see if an admin they dislike gave them a grudge secret note badmouthing them and I just fucking laughed in their face

Notes are real, when a changeling absorbs someone, they get all their notes, if they are a traitor they get their PDA code and objectives.

To clarify, it wasn't JUST that there was drama with the people in it, but that a discord existed at all that was a meta hangout for catplayers and just fucking anyone who was invited wherher cat or not. It wasn't that exclusive in all honesty.
