Making the ultimate tank bomb

Post by ThisIsOurLifeNow » #653222

The anomaly refinery required implosion radius starts at 4 tiles goes all the way to 20 tiles and increases by 2 tiles after every implosion for the same type of core.

Anyone here knows how to make a tank bomb which yields a explosive radius of 20 tiles? The maximum i could reach is 17 tiles after filing an o2 tank with 6000 to 6500 moles of o2 at 3 kelvin and plasma tank wth 47 to 50 moles of plasma at 500 kelvin.

Lot of o2 and plasma wasted to implode a core. Don't know why the developers thought it's a good idea to increase the radius after every implosion and would definitely suggest to make it a constant as i am unable to provide inert bag of holding to new crewmates after the 6th customer as the implosion radius to make an anomaly core becomes 18 tiles by then

Good news: You shouldn't need tritium for core implosions, only research bombs, so you can probably ignore that.

Bad news: You're going to want way spicier plasma than that as your igniter. The burn chamber isn't decorative. You're probably going to want your plasma at least 15,000 Kelvin if you're going to be doing many cores of the same type. If your plasma is hot enough, a full tank of oxygen at 43 Kelvin should get you an adequate maxcap, leaving the TTVs themselves as the limiting factor.

After a whole day of testing various combinations of o2 and plasma tanks these are the readings i have recorded . I have only noted the pressure of the tanks and not their moles as i use the tank compressor to pressurize the tanks which does not display moles but only pressure. From my experimentation the maximum pressure an internal tank(o2/plasma) can contain is an pressure of 2600kpa[50 kpa give and take]. From that observation these are the readings

O2 ,Plasma ,=Radius
2553 kpa(73 kelvin) ,2553 kpa(500/540 kelvin)= 6
2552 kpa(85 kelvin) ,2516 kpa(573 kelvin)= 8
2553 kpa(43 kelvin) ,2553 kpa(500/450 kelvin)= 11
2593 kpa(43 kelvin) ,2566 kpa(1413 kelvin)= 15
2552 kpa(20 kelvin) ,2592 kpa(7000 kelvin) = 17
2552 kpa(43 kelvin) ,2582 kpa(15000 kelvin)= 18

Again these are just my observations after playing with many random values

1) You'll want to put your cooled oxygen in an air pump, rather than a canister, so that you can force more of it into the tank. That should get you over the edge.
2) Pushing your igniter plasma up to 20k Kelvin-ish might help? I don't remember if it does, but that's usually what I bring it to since the burn chamber goes well past that and I also harvest tritium when I do a burn.
