You are the Captain of SS13 on an 80-player Sybil round. The Command staff will be individuals of your choosing - Assume you want the best in every role.

What's your command dream team look like? Current players only.

Here's mine, for example:
HOS - Jack Steiner
CMO - Phoebe Lotsu
CE - Emily Ranger
RD - Lumi Pharon
HOP - Bones McGee

HoP - Daisy Holmes
HoS - Tony Langston
RD - Magni Bronzebeard
CE - Katie Moon or Orlando Faust
CMO - Phoebe Lotsu

I'd call Basil and tell them I can put lizards in command of an 80-player shitfest and pick the first five people to connect.

I pick myself for all roles

And then go fuck off to the derelict and throw drones at walls

I would choose randomly from the nameless thousands who play the game without preset names/personas. They are the better men.

Emily in that rev round the other day, man oh man.
Her defences kept a dozen or more revs at bay until som managed to flank via space. Even then, Emily still escaped, while the hero engineer dunked revs long enough for the singulo to escape and eat most of the revs.

I'd get 5 random people in the stage of the game where they know basic game mechanics and can hold their own in a fight but also take their roles very seriously, i.e. an HoP who wants to do their job efficiently instead of collecting Ian hats.

This is why random names should be enforced, otherwise you have guys metaing hard like OP and the others.

Random names on Sybil, maybe, but on Basil we need fixed names for arpee.

Clown - Shoe-Snatchin' Willie.

What, you're trying to say you're not going to get preferential treatment from many people this way, even though you're supposed to be a completely different person each round? And then when you're a traitor or changeling, you have an easier job because people get used to trusting you (as you play CMO frequently). That's why I change my character's appearance and name frequently. It gets boring after a while when you see the same names popping up each round. And it gives you unfair advantage.

Sure people may in some cases be more trusting of someone who's actually an antag if they charfag, but at the same time you have less room for error when fucking around. You might be willing to overlook a new-ish doctor injecting someone with morphine in a sleeper because they don't know that it knocks people out, but if it's a doctor who's played a lot that's doing it, it's a much bigger red flag, so the meta cuts both ways.

Plus it's just more interesting to have long term relationships for a lot of people. And it's not like the lore definitively says that each round is completely fresh, you could just say that people got scrambled around at Centcom and sent off to another station that has overlap with some of the dudes from the last station, it's not really set in stone.

This. I was a blob CE and spilled plasma by 'accident'. Everyone was intensely suspicious from the onset because people knew, in a meta sense, that I was competent enough not to make that sort of mistake. So it really works both ways. I don't see it as a problem, since there are tradeoffs to being, or not being a static namefag. On one hand, you command more authority and respect, and people will listen to you more, but, as an antagonist, people will be more suspicious if you're acting strangely or making gross mistakes. Honestly, there's no need to force random naming or anything like that, because that would only serve to remove massive amounts of flavour (far more than forcing pre-roundstart naming of clowns/mimes/etc.) to fix something that is an innate compromise, as antag and non-antag, to begin with.

in a game where i cannot hunt and kill people who i dont like, static naming is the definition of a non-issue

off topic but RPD is troll tier blob item, fill every tile of the maint you pop in with disposal chutes and itll take forever for people to clean them up
