Requesting admins to play Musick

Been always wondering, whats the proper way of requesting/TC Trade for music to be played during spessman? Pray or Admin help it.

In order to play music the admin must have the song in question downloaded on their computer, and it must be less than 1mb. So we can't just do any request.

if you send me your dank meme oggs or midis i will play them. they have to be under 1mb and in ogg or midi format, or i wont play them. dank meme is optional, though.

I remember back in 2013 admins would play anything for you, even as a non antag, as long as it was 1mb or under.

Now they just bluespace arty you for asking.

Space asshole is way over one mb. It used to be built into the game, which is why it was playable, but it turns out including large songs makes the game take way longer to download for everyone with the advantage being a minute or two of fun every two weeks or so. Not a good tradeoff.

Also seriously, a whole mb? Like a year ago I was told that 200kb was pushing it. Look at all this freedom you guys have holy fuck.

Edit: I need more songs. I don't have very many and none of them fit any sort of mood whatsoever.

1mb is the hard limit for uploading any files, anything over a few hundred kbs just tends to lag a bit on the current server's connection.

you can get around the 1mb limit by splitting up songs in multiple parts, but uploading multiple files in succession (especially when theyre all 800kb or so) creates a lagstorm so it's a bad idea

Mostly people treat it as OOC or atmosphere.
Very occasionally I've said, at the start of the round, that music heard is IC. And used it to play nuke count downs and other event based tracks. But that mainly happens on basil as the smaller pop helps to do more RP stuff.
