For some reason I wound up thinking of Dark City, but those are names like Mr. Hand and Mr. Book.
Although the whole "every night the city stops and gets restarted/rearranged/rebuilt with people put into different roles" thing is basically what happens between rounds on the station.

I dunno if the emag, e-bow or any of the other iconic traitor equipment is a reference to anything. I think the emag was first added in... 2003? I don't know, it was way before my time, I was still learning the difference between boys and girls back then
