Theyre energy swords. Is there a DEEP LORE reason?

Either a really good gameplay reason or a retarded legacy code reason that people will kick and scream about if you try to change it. I think it might be because burn damage cannot dismember?

I think the main reason was that brute can do certain things that burn cannot, such as dismembering.

Because as we all know, eswords are a very recent addition that came after the advent of dismemberment

It was originally because burn damage doesn't have a knockdown/stun chance- dismemberment and bleeding were added well after eswords.

Thats it, I was trying to remember what it was and just threw dismemberment in them as I think that's a good reason as to why its still brute anyway.

I am pretty sure this conversation was had once when dismemberment was first added which is confusing folks

You can't KO/bleed/dismember with burn. I'd be hesitantly okay with changing eswords from brute to burn if the damage was bumped up from 30 to 40 on regular swords and duealeswords to 50.

sounds fantastic, that dual attack power is insane but then again, burn damage

Brute is cutting/bashing/pulping/crushing damage. Burn is temperature/acid damage. If e-swords burned you to death then it would be burn but since they cut you to death, it's brute.

A happy medium would just having items like this inflict brute damage but without bleeding.

did you just assume my damage type?

It should do enough brute to bleed or dismember, the rest is burn (plus a little more)

Why not both?

Because doing both would make hit and run uses, or even prolonged fights favour the e-sword user because now you're trying to heal two types of damage between trading blows.

I think they're hard-light swords more than lightsabers, which would make them really sharp but not necessarily hot.

Super heated electromagnetically controlled electrons (which is a lightsaber or e sword and are possible in real life) so they are mostly brute with tiny bit of burn. As it cuts. Like a welder cuts with fire.

Someone would have to massively overhaul bleeding code, at present it's handled by the mob based on current brute damage to each body part and presence or absence of bandages- the weapon that caused the injuries isn't tracked and bleeding isn't caused on hit, it's caused when life() ticks after receiving damage.

So like Baycode where all your wounds are stored in a list and tracked separately, along with all the other crazy shit they have like untreated wounds having a chance of getting infected if you hang around in a dirty room and so on?

You just reminded me of a time I watched a traitor shoot their target, approach to finish the job, and then missed the character sprite by a pixel, putting their ebow in the toolbox that their target had dropped underneath them.

Why is it that Jedi can use the Force because it's a part of their religion, but when I use force, suddenly it's rape?

Because your means of applying said force can be seen with the naked eye.

Maybe they aren't made of concentrated light
maybe they are e swords as in ENERGY SWORDS
Image
Meaning they are made of PLASMA (the one thing EVERYTHING IN SS13 IS MADE OF)
and maybe they are MEANT to look like lightsabers because the design guy liked Star Wars.
And the sound? Energy swords from halo make the exact same sound.
