white screen of death

ever since spessmens made me download 42MB or whatever of stuff upon trying to log on at 4 p.m. eastern today, the screen is all white, like so (past round, already over). when readying up, joining the round, etc. it's still white and I can't see anything. Chat works fine and presumably the gameplay itself does, no lag, I just can't see anything



newest version of byond, updated directx like the home page says to.

For once this isn't my fault.

Can you maybe narrow down roughly when this started? Did you change anything on your end around that time?

It started around 4 p.m. Eastern. I tried to load spessmens as usual, clicking the Sibyl link on the front page, and Byond made me download however many megs of data it was before I could get into the lobby. When I did, the white screen started.

Uninstall/reinstall video drivers

Try installing the directx sdk

Go to byond settings and turn hardware acceleration back on.

Disable your secondary video card or run byond on another monitor

This patch took me like 15 minutes to download yesterday, maybe it's botnet or something.

other servers do the same thing but slightly different, like polaris for instance is a black screen of death

Check Goon and /VG/ too

I would do that but it might be too late, uninstalling byond and reinstalling the downgrade (510 stable) seems to have fixed it

Generally, installing this: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... px?id=6812

tends to fix it for most people. That is the full sdk for directx, it includes all the versions and all the optional shit.
